New Battle Mode - Battlefront

Concept

 

I thought of this a while ago, but I never posted it anywhere - until now!

 

Imagine a line in the middle of the map, separating the two teams' bases.  This line will by White by default. The goal is to push this line all the way to the back of the enemy's base - this is how to win. You must fight to gain territory, and ultimately conquer the whole map. The line is moved as far as there is no tanks fighting against it. In order to move it, you must kill enemy tanks preventing your progress and push the line forward.

  • @Thekillerpenguin Post 3: This will depend on the pre-set weight of the Line.
  • @Meowmix56 Post 8: You can shoot through the Line, however, you can only pass the line by going over it by the use of buildings/hills (or even Parkour :P), or by the use of Tunnels. So you can't go through the line, but there are ways past it. You can press yourself up against an immovable object as a defensive action; the enemy team will be forced to kill you in order to progress.
  • Gold Boxes @Loser_100_percent Post 17 and @newrohan Post 32 - From the time the alarm is sounded to the time the Gold has been taken, the Line becomes temporarily breakable. You may pass the Line to get in position for the Gold. The same rules apply, however: You can not push against your team. Since the Line is breakable, it will not and can not be moved during this time.

Ideas and Suggestions

 

I LOVE this idea. The only thing I would change is the pushing of the line. Pushing the line is not really realistic. the movement of the line should change not by means of physical force from a tank but bye maybe rate of kills or area where most kill are made. For example, if red team people at their base are getting killed alot the line will move to the red base, so you have to make an attempt to go to the enemies base(kinda like conquering land). So in my opinion, the line shoud be moved that way, forcing teams to be offensive and get kills deep behind enemy lines. Can you imagine a battle in berlin?? or dusseldorf, that would be a great battle. this mode also requires that many tanks enter the enemy zone so one drugger wouldnt change the course of a battle.

Mechanics

 

Creating the Battle

  • When creating the battle, you will have the option to chose the Map, number of players allowed per team, weight of the Line, height of the Line, and any Pro Battle specifications.
  • How the Game Ends - The battle can end in 2 ways - 1) Time Limit 2) Line is pushed to a certain point of the map.
  • 1) The team that is winning when the time runs out wins. Obviously :P
  • 2) When creating the battle, you can select which percentage of the map has to be 'conquered' for the game to end. Say the battle is created to end at 75% - the game will end when one team has pushed the Line past 75%.

 

The Line

  • Line will have an option for weight. The amount of weight determines how much force is required to push the line and advance your team's territory. This prevents a single lucky Wasp from winning the game in 2 seconds. The line can have a weight anywhere from 900 KG to 2000 KG (higher weights recommended for higher ranks). A 900 KG line can be pushed by 2 M0 Wasps, and 2000 KG line will require 2 M3 Titans.
  • Line will also have an option for height. Height can range from 0 meters to 50 meters (or max height of Map props). If there is a path that goes over the height of the wall, tanks may enter the enemy team through that path. 
  • The Line can be passed through by the use of tunnels.
  • Tanks who have passed onto the other side of the Line can not push against their own team; you must be on your own side to push the Line.
  • Line will change color, Blue is blue team is winning, Red if red team is winning, White if no team is winning (default).

Pre-Battle

  • Each team must have within 1 player of each other to begin to push the line in small maps. 2 for medium maps, 4 for large maps.

Fund

  • The Battle Fund will be divided between the teams depending on where the Line was when the battle was ended. If the battle has a percentage-to-win (view Creating the Battle), the percentage set to win is what the winning team gets. If the percentage is set at 75%, and the fund is 1000 crystals, the winning team will receive 750 crystals to be divided among themselves. The losing team will receive 250 crystals.
  • If the battle was set on a time limit, the place where the Line was at when the time ran out is what the winning team will receive. Say Red team has the line at 60% when the timer runs out; Red team will get 60% of the fund, and Blue team will get 40% of the fund.

Score

  • Points for kills will be the same as with Capture the Flag and Control Points Battle Modes.
  • 5 Points will be rewarded to a player for every meter he/she has helped 'capture', regardless of how many tanks have helped move the Line.

And maybe how fast the line is pushed back can be determined by the tank's weight and power stat. For example, Titan is slow. So it can't get to the line very fast. However, if it DOES get to it, it can push it very hard. As for light tanks, they can get to the line easily, however, with their light weight and power, they'll push it with less force. . .

 

I like it. It's like a modified version of TDM. Except it also makes conquered territory as a factor in winning.

 

Battlefront. . . reminds me of Pokémon. Battle Frontier. :lol:

Ah, but Wasps will die quickly from enemy fire ;)

Takes a bit more strategy than that!

Sandbox Battlefront + 4 Wasps on Nitro = win in seconds. It doesn't matter how many are taken out in that scenario as long as at least 1 of them pushes the line to the goal.

 

I like DidYouKnowThat's suggestion. The power stat on your hull would be more useful.

Alright but how do you push the line?  Mere presence over the line extending it seems too much like cp.  Physically pushing it?  Pushing beacons that generate the line?

 

Power might not be the most useful, considering you have to hold back all the tanks pushing against you as well.

 

Will the barrier be impenetrable?  Can tanks cross it?  Can you shoot through it?  It would be neat if you could only cross through tunnels or buildings to attack the other team.  Or if the barrier had a set weight so most hulls could not push it at all singlehandedly. 

 

Battlefront. . . reminds me of Pokémon. Battle Frontier. :lol:

Reminded me of starwars battlefront

 

Also what about buildings or objects on the map?  Can you brace yourself in front of an immovable object and completely halt the line until somebody kills you?

@@Meowmix56: Your team will be able to physically push the line until the enemy team starts pushing back. You have to kill the people halting your progress in order to move forward.

Not necessarily. Perhaps if the Goldbox can drop in the middle, it would be more of an incentive for players, and urge them to conquer the land that would be the drop-spots of it. :D

May the Blitzkrieg begin. LOL.

 

By the way Trombone, not only weight, but shouldn't Power be affiliated with pushing the boundaries and/or maintaining them as well? I think I only read Weight on your updated part. Oh well, your opinion. :P

More Power = More strength to push Weight. The Weight of the hulls wasn't mentioned :)

 

As for Gold, it won't be far more of an issue than for CTF

 

 

 

No hull would be OP here. The heavy hulls have more power to push, but are slow and big targets. Light hulls can act as support and as quick-acting reinforcements. Medium hulls can do pretty much everything :)

Hey trom, 

It would also be great to add the fact that if, for example, the blue team has 3 strong tanks on the line, and the red team has 2 light tanks on the line, the blue team would still be able to push the line slightly  :D

 

Other than this, I love the idea of 'Battlefront'! Hope the mods can make something out of it!
