The Upcoming Shaft Lazer Update: Discussion

What are your thoughts regarding the lazer they may implement on the shaft? Is it a way to better balance the game or does it nerf Shaft too much?

My opinion: It nerfs shaft too much.

My explanation: Shaft is supposed to be a stealthy weapon, after all, it is a sniper (usually). If Shaft had a lazer on it, players would target shafts MUCH more, allowing them easier kills.

There are already some major disadvantages to using shaft: once you are sighted in, someone can EASILY sneak up from behind and kill you AND shaft has a relatively low DPM when in arcade mode AND Shaft has a very slow turret traverse speed.

Another disadvantage to the implementation of lazers on Shafts would be the lag increase. For many people, the lazers would not be a problem, but for people with old or low-end computers (like me), having lazers moving all across the battlefield would lower our FPS to almost nothing (I already have trouble getting 25 frames on Monte Carlo with only 4 or so people on the map and on large maps like Temple Ruin, I barely can get 5 frames with no one on). So please, do not implement lazers.

Last thought: if you add lazers to Shaft, you would also need to add them to other long range weapons such as thunder, railgun, and even smoky so that it would be more fair...but then that would increase the problems stated above and would actually buff short range guns (in a way).

I hope my thoughts have helped out the Tanki Community in some way. Thank you for your time.

Playing with shaft is actually extremely hard, but no one understand this. Because they see only shaft's strenghess because if person don't look at carefully, person don't see weaknesses detailed. İ think, many people who says this is good, didn't try shaft or didn't use much time. Actually, other weapons are extremely unfair against shafters(especially railgun) for many situation, and shaft have less advantages.

We get our kills when opponents didn't see us, so this will be extremely hard.

Who will stop light shot-and-hide tankers without using same tactic? Who will stop drugger-short ranges easily with double power? Who will stop flag carrier 5 meter away to opponent flag point? Who can stop same player again and again? Who will use herbs effectively? Who will make the game "unpredictable"( we need this)? Who can play with extremely lags?

Who will stop pro light tankers and giive a chance other players?

Try to fight against 2 rail vs 1 or 3 mixed gun vs 1, try to use this gun while moving in DM with 3 extremely hard railgunners. Try to use this weapon against isida with double armor without any double power. Try to use this weapon on medium range against smoky or thunder while it is doing shot-and-hide. Try to use this weapon this weapon while capturing the flag. Try to use this weapon for entering opponent base and defence. Try to use this weapon for surviving on open area. Try to use this weapon while your opponents are using drop points but you can not use because scope mode.

İ can write many of other scenario about shaft's downsides while it is not using laser.

Well I do think that shaft laser sight would de-buff it way to much, but instead of having a straight-up light, but just a single dot showing where its point it would be better, because a single dot doesnt give position away to much.

Aside from the fact that the lazer is actually super cool, it actually helps if you have more than one Shaft, so that you both know what each other is on.

It might give away position, but seeing how fast Shaft charges, it shouldn't be too much of an issue. Just don't scope 24/7. And don't stay in one place. That would get you killed anyways.

Anyone thought of the possibility of using the lazer as a fear tactic? Just shine it somewhere and nobody will go there. Might help for a more cooperative team.

Also, it won't shake anymore! That's a plus!
