[solved] Video game addiction by

For years, people have been trying to get a grasp on controlling their addictions. A familiar matter of addiction that can be drawn parallel to today’s world is the matter of video game addiction. Over several years, research data proves that video games are in the process of entertaining us to the point of us depending on it for entertainment. “These kids now-a-days can’t just go about and do something” says several parents. Video game addiction is clearly a desire to entertain ourselves that eventually would affect the life of the player. Those who have overcome it certainly had their will switched on it. Quite to the contrary, several had made attempts that gradually worsened their addictions. Some even say,” It’s hard, I can’t seem to get a hand on it. There’s no way once you’re addicted”. Well, if you ask this question to me I’d say this: “Well, there is old sport; you’ve just not tried enough.” But the best way to start is from the base. So, let’s start our venturesome trek!

Video game addiction is an impulse disorder forcing the player out of his connections in the real-world, he chooses to remain in virtual-reality, be social making new friends and sharing ideas in virtual-reality, while things happen in real life.

The psychology behind it?

People ask why these games are so addicting to the point of people losing their real-identities to virtually connect up with someone or pleasure themselves in these games. And the answer is: Addictions are caused when the brain secretes neurotransmitters like Dopamine between the synapses or the empty spaces of neurons or nerve cells, this repeated process pleasures the person and pulls him into playing games.

What are its symptoms?

Following are symptoms of video game addiction:

Ø  An urge to play the game constantly, not interested in other activities. Prefer to talk constantly of the game.

Ø  Loss track of time: People with addictions lose track of time. Sometimes, people sit with intent for few minutes, and they lose track of time and find that several hours have passed.

Ø  Inability to control: Addicted-people seem to find it hard to control their addictions. They may go online with the intent of playing for few minutes, gradually extending their minutes.

Ø  Neglect real life: People tend to leave their reality after they have been addicted. They grow distant from their friends and family and eventually lose focus on everything except gaming.

Ø  Hiding their addictions: People who are confronted with some negative or uncomfortable situations tend to hide their addictions.

Ø  They also deny of the time they spent on playing when asked about.

Ø  Sometimes, these people spend money on upgrading their computer for better gaming experience and sometimes they spent a disproportionate sum to buy things in the game, pointlessly.

How to control your addiction?

Well, several people have asked me on how to control their addiction and what I am about to say here is what exactly I’ve told to them. Controlling your addiction is to control the pleasure of playing, and what more people offer are therapies and suggestions to parents like solitary confinement [:P], which is quite different from mine. You just need to write your problems, basically your symptoms, say you wait till work or school finish playing, writing it down and control that desire, control and make sure you find a suitable alternative in real life and force yourself to limit your time, eventually this will help you. Consequently, your addiction is solved. I think this pretty much sums up my article.

A guide to choosing and changing equipment by @Raredust

It happens to all of us at one time or another. You're in a battle, fighting like there's no tomorrow. No matter how hard you try to earn kills and points, you just can't get it done effectively. You have to change your equipment. You go to your garage, impatiently waiting for the screen to load. The screen loads, you scroll through your garage... but... you must wait 9 minutes before you can change your equipment.

Here are a few basic tips on choosing and changing your equipment:

Plan ahead-

Before you join a battle, change into the suitable equipment for the map and number of players in the battle. By doing this, you'll still be able to promptly change your equipment while in the battle. You will not have to join it, change your equipment, and have to wait 15 minutes if you want to change your equipment again.

If the battle you want to join is almost full, you'll want to join it immediately. This is because, after you are suited into your desired equipment, and you proceed back to the Battles screen, the battle may be full.

Choose the most suitable equipment -

This tip is obvious, but very important. Choose equipment that is appropriate for your situation. Typically, this basic tip varies with the map in which you're battling; suit yourself well with the size of the map. It will also vary with the equipment of your teammates and opponents; find out your role on your current team.

With paints, this tip is even more important. If many players are using Freeze, immediately grab a paint that provides a reasonable amount of protection from Freeze.

In addition, you shouldn't change into a paint just for its looks. This is good for showing off, but if you want to play to win, it's just not the best choice.

Use your common sense while changing equipment. Take the entire situation into account, and change your equipment respectively.

Know your equipment -

Get familiar with your garage, and take note of your upgrades. The higher the upgrade of your hull/turret, the more effective it will be in battles. To a degree, choose your equipment, not based off what you believe is a more effective hull/turret, but based off the upgrades of your hulls/turrets. Here's an example:

You join a Rio battle. You feel that Railgun and Hornet would be an effective combination. You have M1 Railgun and M0 Hornet. Instead, you should use M1 Railgun and M1 Wasp; because the upgrades of the combination are higher.

Clearly, in the example above, the recommended choice is quite obvious. In different situations, however, the choice of your equipment may prove to be difficult. As you become familiar with your garage, and the level of how well you use your different hulls and turrets, you'll be able to more easily choose your equipment.

Be quick -

While changing equipment, the battle does not stop. The time that you spend in your garage, deciding what to change to, is precious time that you could be using to eradicate tons of metal. Before you even click Garage, start thinking about what you want to change to, so that you burn as little time as possible.

Things to remember -

1. After you change your equipment, you will have 15 minutes before you can change it again.

2. If you want to change equipment, and you haven't destroyed many tanks or earned many points, you should: change your equipment, leave the battle, and join right back into it.

3. In a battle, after each round, the amount of time that you have before you can change your equipment again immediately ends.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Though so simple, perhaps this guide has planted some seeds, or given you some unknown or forgotten tips and information, or some ideas for the future. Or perhaps... you already know everything in the guide...

Regardless, good luck on choosing/changing your equipment in the future.

[Case study] T.E.T: XP battles by :

Xp battles: The art of hide-and-seek

Quite to the contrary as in other games, Xp battles are games based on the gameplay between two or more railguns in a match. The game specifically focuses on a team match on CTF [Capture the Flag]. In this case study, we shall delve into XP battles, why it’s crucial and what are its problems.

Xp battles are battles where people fight in the same combination as others. The Xp battles focus on railguns. This standard helps refine the precision of the tanker and so the turret and hull movement.  Furthermore, the gameplay is addicting.  In the battle, a fellow railgunner chooses to camp or attack for the betterment of his team. Risking his footing in terms of life, he surges to take the opponents flag to lead his team to victory. These battles are found in Server 1s’ of the three communities.

Normally, the Xp battles are made on 7 flags which are, indeed, small. All the same, tankers get an average of 500 per match. The problems with playing in matches having high flag differences, say 15 flags, are in fact risky. The reason: High flag differences are comparatively time-consuming than normal 7 flag matches and they are prone to ruiners; there’re added chances for ruiners to come with Smokys’, Thunders’ and other equipments, which pose a threat for the railgunners in reloading. There is also the question: Why risk all your time and money on long battles when ruiners can enter in and steal your precious crystals? When an Xp battle is ruined, the average tanker uses the “/vote_username” command to ask a moderator to sent him out though I’ve never seen it happen, or change their equipments.

These are normally the reasons for Xp battles getting ruined. In fact, with the enactment of Smart Cooldowns, the “Xp battles” have outshone other battles in terms of popularity, which led to ruiners entering them without the right armaments.

There’re rules for playing in Xp which when not followed can lead to its ruining:

·        Hornet and Wasp m1s’ must only wear equipments whose protection is 30%. Example: Tundra, Clay and Picasso.

·        Hornet and Wasp m2s’ must only bear paints with a maximum protection of 20%. Example: Sandstone, Savanna and Forester.

·        M3 versions of Hornet and Wasps’ mustn’t use any sort of paint. Though, you see them on prodigi, Digital and sometimes on Forester.

Note: If you see any prodigi or paints that are in violation of the Xp rules, please take a picture and if in connection with a moderator or any of the staff having the right of dismissing tankers from games with appropriate decisions. Just to enlighten you that Xp battles are in the process of being made official. Here are several cases of ruiners:

This case was posted on 15/Oct/2014, when the reply was a bit unexpected.

This case supports my claim that Xp battles are being made official and developers are in the process of it.

Note: All cases after the 26/Oct/14 are dealt as violations. And the reply was in favour of Xps’.

This process might take a long time and the developers are progressing on several other upgrades. To fasten, this process, I therefore, urge you to like and support this topic in Ideas and Suggestions

To the Xp ruiners: Why not let us railgunners have the excitement in the three servers of the communities, whereas you could have a total of 60 servers !?

To the Xp lovers: Help vote the topic in Ideas and Suggestions to fasten this process.

Thank you!      smile.png

Tanki Online Scene: Stadium by @Raredust

Humans... the insensible beasts... At the moment, I am ashamed to be called one of them.

I sit in my rusty M3 Hornet. Eight tanks await behind me. I glare into the foggy arena in front of me. Two tanks crash and shoot in the arena, trying desperately to eliminate each other.

Every year, thirty random fighters are compelled to duel. This year, I... am one of them.

An explosion appears in the arena as the crowd cheers with glee. As I ponder, questioning life, I am suddenly beckoned. In front of my eyes, a heavy, metal gate opens with a heavy squeak. The operator of the gate looks at me, like I'm about to do something minor... Like I'm about to get on a roller coaster, and he's just doing his job. I look away from him in disgust, and proceed into the arena.

My surroundings suddenly become louder. The insane crowd yells, boos, curses, and cheers at me and my opponent. I don't understand what has happened to the human race. I don't understand when or how humans became beasts. I don't understand...

Right there in front of me, my opponent awaits. The amazing tank specifies zeal; but I wonder who is inside the tank. I wonder what he is thinking. I wonder if he is thinking the same thoughts as I am. I wonder if he approves of the fight, or if he's disgusted. I wonder if he's silently wishing me good luck. I wonder if tears are running down his cheeks. I wonder...

I hear a loud, unclear announcement declaring that the fight would start shortly. I position myself in my small, compact Hornet. I realize that my life... my short, brief life, could be over in a few moments.

Two yellow, majestic beams of light project into the cold sky, signifying the start of the fight. I brace myself, and swiftly speed forward; battling for the sake of my life.

Yeah. That's why I thought when I wrote. I asked myself how can I make millions of others read and understand and employ this method? At that time, Remaine A.K.A PowerCordOfJustice A.K.A I3rilliant introduced the Editorial again. Since it's the press, it'd get lots of view and some people would read it. So, I sent it as a submission. And luckily it made it into the front page. I owe Rem for that thanks. Remaine.
