Hitting a turret > will turn the turret > instead of flipping the hull

Recommended Posts

I propose that

A hit at the turret should do 2 things:

-> result in turning the turret and setting the enemy out of aim
(this would be new.. works like the hulls rotate today if you hit their corner)

-> and lift the hull up from the ground a little but not as much as today
(as energy is already absorbed partly by the rotation of the turret)

edit: While still a direct hit to the central turret area (lets say central 40% of the witdh) will not rotate the turret but  work like today (i.e. flip the hull)

So these high punch weapons can continue to defend themselfes.. while flipping is less of a sport then today.

Tanki states that flipping got harder as it needs more skill now.

True it got slightly harder to be flipped by noobs. But this is not of much use if you get higher ranked and face only skilled oponents..

remark:

I don't know what happens if two Twins fight each other with that new system ;)

So,when hitting the turret, only the turret will turn and NOT the tank?

yes.

The turret will turn away and the hull will just lift of the ground.

If you hull is on the move in full speed, and the turret is hit from somewhere from the side, then this will result in a hull-turn as well, as only one track will have ground contact at a time.. but the effect would be different then today.

We are waiting for Mafioza's comment :)

I'm not sure about this one. On one hand it would remove the annoying issue of teammates flipping one another, but on the other hand a few guns would lose their powerful strategy of being able to flip other hulls. Smoky and Railgun already got nerfed, so flipping enemies is now more difficult, but with this update it will be physically impossible. I'm a Smoky fan myself and I wouldn't like such an update. Although I do admit that I sometimes wish that impact wouldn't exist when I play with a no-recoil gun and get flipped by a smoky or rail...

Also, what you're describing seems like a very complicated set of calculations that the system will need to do to work out what gets flipped and what doesn't. I'm pretty sure the current system is much more efficient in terms of server load as it's only a simple impact calculation.

I thought about the calculations a little (only very little :P) and came to the conclustion that already todaythe impact is calclated in respect to the ange you get hit. Watch how the tanks raise up when you hit them.. there is something like hit-angle specific lift.

So if the turret is hit you just take the same calculation and reduce the effect on the hull by 50%.. and then you have three zones on your turret on each side.. one turns it left, one facing to the enemy works like today (flips it), one turns it right.

As smokey fan you would be ablie to fight more efficiant against heavier hulls whereby the hull does not move so much if you hit them. But if you hit  hteir turret.. their aim gets deflected ;)

I actually kind of like the idea of having the turret turn a bit. Esp. for turrets like railgun. Maybe make this only an XP/BP game-mode effect?

Waht is your reason to hve it only for XP/BP?

I think this should apply to all kind of weapons.

Maybe if could effect some turrets more then others.. in order to promote some less popular weapons / less effective weapons more then others.

I agree, and the problem about flipping it can be solved. As discussed above that when hitting the turret will rotate the turret+lift the hull up,so by shooting on the left or right side of turret,it will lift the tank left and right respectively and the tank can be flipped. So i agree on this idea....

this will mostly benefit turrets like smoky rail rico & this would make those OP

well today they turn or flip your hull while with this update they turn your turret.

Does this make much of a difference?

The main advantage of this feature is to prevent flipping, that some guys specialice at  (to flip other hulls).

Tanki is a game that uses physics. For something like this to work would throw off physics because in order for the turret to turn but the hull not to flip, the turret would need to be disconnected.

If something hits your turret at "non-center" with a certain amount of impact force, the turret will spin and this "consumes" 25% of the impact force.

The degree of turn depends on how much impact force the weapon delivered.

The remaining 75% of the impact force works as usual and lifts your hull a little.

Does not sound so weird I guess ;)

not every rail or smoky shot can flip a tank & if a rail or smoky shot hits your turret it knocks off your aim & only hammer is capable of doing this bcuz of its impact force

flipping a player is all about skill & its not easy to flip a player using a short range turret in a map like desert just be hitting the tank

The higher the ranks the more people master flipping on purpose, no matter if smokey, rail or Hammer.

Once you know how it works (situation, exact aim, aiming upwards a little) it is not much of an issue to flip others frequently.
