Map rotation/cycle

Recommended Posts

As the title simply says.

The game needs to have map rotations, playing on the same map for such a long time gets boring.

Let's say they're 40 maps in-game; every 3 months or so the 15 maps that are least popular get replaced with new ones, the maps that were removed get reworked on to suit a better gameplay style or they simply return in the next rotation of maps. This does require more work for the developers but that's what MapMakers are for ...

I think it would be better to make some special events in unpopular maps, such as increased fund and gold boxes every week. So that players would regularly try out those maps and get some crystals.

Similar to what  said in his topic, it is other alternative to get unpopular maps being played on but what if the event is over? The maps may die down again; not played on for other few months till the same thing happens.

good idea

Good luck  !

Thanks C:

This would be good, the return of Deck-9, Canyon and Moon Silence would be good if this is implemented.

Yeah, they could return maps like them back and again if they aren't as popular they could easily be reworked on. Moon silence won't be back, that's very unlucky.

Mapmakers better forget about real life if they gonna do dis

Great idea, but maybe 4, instead of 3 months, and 12 maps :)

I know I was just giving an example, at the moment they're 70 odd maps in the the game, this is something that would probably be added into the Unity version if anything.

Interesting idea. I'd prefer a system where there are special secret gold boxes one day a week in rarely seen maps. The golds are 1.5k instead of 1k. This could motivate people to try new maps.

This seems to be a common idea but like I said before, what if the players only play it for that reason; then hardly gets played for a few months or when ever the next mini-event for that map is.

XP players will be forced to use other maps besides Sandbox, Red Alert, Parma, Barda, Kungur......

Yeah I had that in mind, that's why I said the least popular maps rather than maps that I see everyday.

KK, how'bout this:

Topic for player-created maps to be submitted.

Every month, the top 15 less popular in-game maps get switched with the top 15 most popular player-created maps.

Devs have no additional work to do, players are happy. Win-win!

DECK-9, CANYON, MOON SILENCE, ABYSS, COME BACK. Great idea, 5 stars.

OK ... this is becoming a "what maps would you like to return" topic lol

They could all be part of the rotation apart from moon silence, that map won't be brought back into the game. Maybe a gravity type map could be possible in the unity version without the whole anti-cheat system activating but we'll just have to wait.

y u no upvote for real pls, i wanna get upvote streak pls

15 might be bit too much though. And you can't say the top 15 player-created will always be quality. Maybe 5?

pssst, btw, what's your old nick? I never saw you before.

Accidental downvote.

I like the idea, and came up with something similar to it a while ago.

Stupid touchscreen...

It happens, it's fine.

You do have a good point, 15 is quite a bit but the game has currently 70 odds maps, only changing 5 wouldn't be enough. Instead limit the amount of maps to 40, then you have 30 spare maps that can later be used in the rotation as well as new maps.

My old nick was crashyoyoyo.

This will most likely be a thing in Unity. Re-working 15 maps at regular intervals will take a lot of time, so the developers would much rather release the new version of the game ASAP and then work on a system like this, if it will be necessary. In the current Tanki Online we';; have to live with what we have and I'm pretty sure than no radical changes will be made to the current system.

But.......they would have to find it first ;) that's where the map variety comes into play

The devs wouldn't announce it. It would be a special thing you would have to go looking for.

First, I have to say, if its necessary right now, it will probably be necessary later. And If you don't think its necessary, please tell me how many times Lost Temple is played per month compared to Silence and explain how its fine. The developers have testers to spot errors in updates, so why not have those who submit maps help find ways to improve current cards when they need to be reworked?

Now the other part, forgive me as I am going off topic.

Maybe not for cards, but what about mouse controls. Is that not a major implementation to the current system? The basis of your saying they would rather get the game out on Unity doesn't match their doings. But that is a different topic.

I honestly wasn't expecting something like this to be implanted into the game right now anyways. I don't like to think it but maps are the least of the devs concerns at the moment, but I really do hope something like this is introduced into the game.

Ah I got it, so it forces players to try out and play different maps if they want the bonus.
