Gold Box: Mult-like players are ineligible

Currently when a gold box falls, everyone is eligible to take it.
This includes those who join battles who do nothing except ask the question, "Gold yet?"
 
Let's make a change so that only those who are contributing can take the box.
It's quite simple and it works in a similar way to the Kick2 suggestion. (The most liked forum post in tanki)
 
Read this carefully...
1. Get the Mean score for the players on your side.
2. Get the Mean work rate for the players on your side. (requires time spent in battle)
Only players who have achieved 55% or more of either Mean are allowed to take the Gold.
 
Those who don't meet the required score or work rate are exhibiting mult-like behaviour and therefore not allowed to get the box.
 
This will only encourage players to participate and contribute.



Comments:

I think it would be fair if those who join and press P and wait, will not recieve a warning of gold dropping.


Why not put the gold box in a "reserve" once it is picked up and if the person who picked it up doesn't meet certain requirements by the end of the round then the box is forfeit and added to the battle fund instead?

I opened a topic about auto kicking mults or bad players in general.

Gold box should be a matter of luck. But tanki ruin the game by announcing the drop with 20 seconds in advance. So there are a new kind a saboteur - the gold box hunter. They don t play, they just wait for gold.

Heck, Tanki promotes gold box hunting. Just watch a V-log.

NEW?!?! Gold hunters have been around for years (since gold box was added) and I must say that when the gold box dropped at every 700 crystals fund, the sabotage from people entering battles to catch it was a LOT worse than now.

At one point they made gold drop instantly, so there was only luck to find one. Good time for me. But this hunters protested and we got this ugly mess now.

Well, it was a good update to remove the sabotage caused by gold, but having the gold dropped instantly completely ruined the fun and adrenaline that was associated with waiting for the gold box to drop. Developers decided to find a compromise and reduce the time between the siren and gold box, so that "professional gold hunters" would still have the opportunity to use their skills to catch the gold, while it was still fair for less experienced players.

There is nothing wrong with the announcement of the gold box.

Gold box hunters who sit and do nothing are saboteurs and need to be stopped.  They've been spoiling games for years.

The delay between notification and the drop is irrelevant.

Tanki has become unplayable. Many tankers are playing DMs because team battles are ruined by mults and fly hackers. 

Instead of implemeting the new kick system, TO is creating updates we don't need like mouse controls and new camera speed.

Tanki don't encourage sabotage but are facilitating it by doing nothing to stop it.

I don't like this solution.  It seems bizarre to have people in a map physically unable to take a dropped box.  And a lot of people, because of latency, skill, or gear can not be in the upper half of their team.  It excludes a lot of legitimate players.

 

Here is a better solution:  Increase gold box value to 5k but make drops significantly rarer.  If any players have been in a match for more than 5 minutes but have a k/d below 0.1 as well as a low score (to protect isidas and flag runners) gold boxes will not drop.  This breaks the entire strategy of lying in wait.

 

The increase in value is essential, one can not underestimate how many of these people there are or the scale of the fit they will throw if they perceive that they will get fewer free crystals.  Even if the actual drop rate ends up being less than one fifth of the current rate, the perceived average crystals would not change.

 

It would be nice if they did get rid of the warning, having 20 seconds mostly benefits lighter faster tanks.  I think the warning time is mostly balanced around smaller maps and previous versions with fewer possible drop locations.

You think all youtubers stay in pause during battles? They know that if they play, there will be more funds, so more chance for Gold. If you watch their video, you can see they are playing.

 

Gold waiter in battle are nothing compared to russians or arabs using mults in enemy team...

i never said that but just bcuz 1 player is inactive it doesn't mean that gold wont drop so some of them just wait for it to drop & might take it while the players who fought hard to make it drop might not get it

What about people who join and immediately see the alarm? Would they be blocked too?

 

I feel time should be a factor too.

 

If the tanker leaves within 30 seconds of getting the gold box, he should recieve only 1/4 of the gold value.

No it doesn't.

There is no reason a player should have less than 55% of the team averages unless he his there just to sabotage or just catch gold. You either understand the maths or you don't.

And we still have the same sabotage abuse.

So lets assuming a normal five person team with two people drugging.  Scores are 600, 600, 180, 180, 180.  Very common with the druggers being the only ones able to ignore the opposing teams flag defense.  All three non-druggers are under the threshold and would not be eligible for the box.

I don't think that this is really fair. If somebody is really trying, but is just that bad, it's not fair that he's not allowed to get the gold. Something that I think would be much more fair is if the people who can't get the gold are the ones who type phrases like "GOLD PLZ ADMIN" all the time. If you type more than a certain number (let's say 2) of similar phrases, then it will become impossible for you to get the gold. IMO, this is more fair.

I agree with the idea.

 

However, in another topic, I proposed another idea that would made gold boxes available to more people, and also be a matter of luck more than of plan or skill. Division of a 1000 cry box in two 500 cry boxes that fall at the same time in different places of the map. Maybe in that case a shorter period would be more appropriate, but anyway, that's the concept.

If they all joined the battle at the same time then yes. Those 3 would not be allowed. But if they joined later than the druggers then they probably would be allowed.

 

Even without drugs their score should be higher because while drugs give you an advantage, it's not that big of one.

 

55% in this case would mean 215 pts need to be registered.

Better start scoring mults!

Even without drugs, you still should be achieving 55% of the average scores and work-rate.

I don't think that this is really fair. If somebody is really trying, but is just that bad, it's not fair that he's not allowed to get the gold.

If you're trying then there is no reason why your work rate should be less than 55% of the average of the other players on your team.

I think about these things before I post them. Don't assume that it's that easy to defeat. It's a well thought out idea.
