Empty the chat

Recommended Posts

I am not sure that this idea would be accepted, but read it.

This exist in some multiplayer games, so why not here.

The idea is about to make some changes in lobby chat. When you start a conversation with someone, only the person who are you writing to can see your message. Not all players.

For example: If I write something to my friend, only me and him can see what I wrote. Same for opposite. So not all players would see it. That's why I meant "empty the chat". The chat will be empty for everyone. But I think this will reduce lag for some players. But if someone writes something as single player, I mean not to person, then that can be seen by everyone. I mean, he didn't select "write in chat", he just wrote the message. Admins can see what others are writing to friends. That can stay. So chat violators won't raise if this was implemented. What do you think about this idea?

I'm not sure why I would want my message not to be seen by anyone else. But I don't see any harm in this idea. :D

On the one hand, it's a good idea if you want to talk with a friend in the lobby chat without getting interrupted. On the other hand, talking with your friend in the lobby chat can give rise to a conversation with other players as well, possibly resulting in new friends.

But then you can violate chat rules and you don't get banned because moderator on that server can't see your message, or if there is no moderator players can't report you because they don't see your messages (except your friend).

There you've got an interesting point. Though, if only you and your friend can see it, other players won't get hurt by it. Your friend, or the player you're talking to, can still report it and if he gets hurt by what the violator says, he can add him to his block list. Though, you've got a valid point!

Interestingly, I went through the same thought process as yours. :p

What moderators do is (try to) keep the chat clean of abusive and offensive content so that everyone can have a nice time interacting with each other. If someone interacts with someone in private, there is no other person who can get offended by the chat messages. But of course, if private chat breaks rules and is caught by a moderator, the violators will be punished.

Moderators should see all the posts if he wants to cause its his job. But I think this should be an option. Personally I don't like it private chat is much better.

This would be good as an option that you can tick. Definitely useful considering how much flood there can be in chat when there are multiple people having conversations.

+ less people will be banned

- there will be more chat violators

But nevermind, you have already banned enough words, think about it
