Bubbles for all Staff Members

Recommended Posts

You all know how Chat Moderators have the little ? bubble next to their name, why not have one for every kind of helper.

Why?

  • So players know who to trust completely when asking questions
  • Prevent confusion when saying you are a helper
  • Tankers know your job and can ask you specific questions about it

I like to talk to tankers and answer their questions. Quite often I have been asked "If you are a Helper, where is your badge/bubble?". Instead of referring them to my profile every time it would be easier to have the bubble by my name.

Players Reasons

Jet3228 - people should be able to know the players that help hold up the tank community

Maybe they could also add in an extra part on each Helpers profile

I love the way you called it a bubble :D

In my opinion, it's more like a icon :P

To be honest, this'll be a good idea to have in the game, it will be almost impossible for someone to trick someone in to thinking he / She is a helper of the game.

Candidates should also get one, so that we are able to tell who is being tested.

Great idea overall :O

Yea it's kinda unfair to see only chat mods with those icons. You guys are working too so you deserve it, and finally we can get rid of those who say "i am forum mod i will contact angelreaper and banned you forever"

Gold is for Admins, Silver is for full Helpers and Bronze for candidates.

eSports should be a trophy icon like the avatars on the forum, while help site should be... idk, something else.

Whatever the signs may be, there needs to be an option to mouse-over the sign and see what it stands for in chat. Also the player's job title should be written in the box that opens up when you click the name.

It's a decent idea, and I don't necessarily disapprove of it. But there are some likely consequences that may result from the implementation of the idea and someone needs to play Devil's Advocate.

  • Confusion: Currently, chat moderators are the only ones with the icons. If there are suddenly a whole host of iconed staff members, less knowledgeable players will assume that they are chat moderators as well. Even if the icons were different shapes, these players still will still be confused.
  • Misinterpretation: Confusion leads to further consequences. This will come about when a real chat moderator bans someone. Ignorant tankers will assume that a non-chat moderator banned them, which could cause problems. Also, other players will begin asking non-chat moderators to ban players. When they are unable to, it will seem as if the staff is corrupt and will just bewilder players.
  • Staff/Player alienation: In the past, players and helpers have been very alike. But, at least in my mind, the gap between the two has been widening and widening. A large portion of the population believes that moderators are out to get them and only do their job for crystals. If every singly staff member is issued an icon, no staff member will ever be viewed the same again.

And, obviously, all staff members will suddenly be spammed at in low ranked chats, and will be bombarded with friend requests. It is still a good idea. It would ensure all players will be able to recognize a player who knows what he is talking about. But, at least in my opinion, it is not without flaws.

It all comes down to the purpose of the bubbles' introduction. They were added to the names of Chat Moderators so that any player can immediately recognize a chat moderator for a non chat moderator. It will undermine the entire purpose of the bubbles to have every staff member wearing a bubble, especially since chat moderators are the only ones who's responsibility it is to work in chat. Since the entire purpose of the bubbles was for simplicity, it seems a bit counterproductive to make it more complicated.

I could hmm agree with you with this bubbles idea. But on the other hand... English community already have a lot of staff members... Imo it won't be good if every single helper will get that bubble on chat... It will looks like christmas on chat. Chat mods have this icon cuz we are working on CHAT. Forum mods have their orange letters at forum for example. Maybe better to add note about being a helper in profile of specific player...

I'm a Help Site Consultant, Chat Mod and eSports Helper. If the purpose of this idea is to let players know what jobs we have, then I must have three bubbles next to my nickname. To be honest, I wouldn't like that. Me having just one bubble would mean the system does not show the full (more precise) information about me as a staff member. And having three bubbles, as I mentioned, is too much.

Sorry, but I do agree with this. Also don't forget about alternative accounts. They have to get bubbles too so NO ONE EVER can claim to be a staff member (or a staff member's alternative account)... Imagine what the chat would look like!

Let's take Facebook mods for example. Their job has nothing to do with in-game Chat. If players want to ask a question to FB mods, they can ask on the Facebook page or via Forum PM. If players want to ask a question to a Helpsite Consultant, they can ask it on the Help Site.

I see no problem with the current system...

Says the one with chat mod avatar and a blue name on the FORUM.

I agree with this idea, seems like a change for the better and fairness for all staff members :)
