(Issue 5) Response to sales (TWG)

Yay, Sales! Woo hoo! (Yes, I just used Comic sans, eat it :P.)

Hello all, it’s me, personia. So. I’m assuming, from the title, you can tell what this is gonna be about. That’s right, I sent a little questionaire to some of you (randomly) to see what the opinions on the Christmas sales were, and this is what I got back:

1. How do you think the overall reaction to the sales are? And why?

drazeruzumaki:

Pretty negative. Do I need to say why? :P

Dragon_judgement:

Eh, in all honesty... there's more negativity about it from the players I have spoken to... not sure if everyone else sees different reactions or not.

Mr.Sarcastic:

Its clear that the overall reaction is negative, mainly because the devs did not give a 50% sale like last year.

I mean come on, isn't this supposed to be Christmas?!?

icerugby:

Overall? The atmosphere seems to be leading down the path to the beginning of a riot but in the end we can't do anything about it.

Why? 50% is basically a given discount expected for Christmas but since it's not a full blown 50% sale everyone's become highly concentrated with NaCl (salt).

bydolord:

Well, most or all are not liking the sales... Players wanted more from this company and they shocked all by doing the opposite.

KillerGnat:

People hated it, 'nuf said. Many of the people who play Tanki are immature kids who seem to think that Tanki owes them a good sale rather than a sale being a privilege. I think most people need to settle down and remember that this is a game. The reason for these "riots" is pretty obvious: no 50% sale. You can give them a great map, a new battle mode, and super gold boxes, but if you don't give them a good sale, they'll revolt.

2:What are your reactions to the sales? And again, why?

Drazeruzumaki:

Not angry or anything but a little dissapointed, still got a different list ready so it is still good.

Dragon_judgement:

Well. If I told you I almost never bought anything on a sale, would you believe me? Because it's practically true. The only time I ever bought anything during a sale period was when we had that huge Micro Upgrade sale. ANYWAY, sorry to get off topic. Long story short, sales don't do much of anything for me. Couldn't really care any less for them.

Mr.Sarcastic:

I'm quite p***ed at the developers for this, but I'm guessing this is because Tanki X is coming out, and they want as many existing players as possible to leave.

icerugby:

I'm pretty disappointed with the paints and MU discounts, but not to the extent to which I'd write out my discontent and fire off negative comments at the devs/marketing team which would obviously not make any difference. The marketing of these sales is actually amazingly thought out. Least used paints, hulls, turrets discounted with the highest %. I'm not saying I agree with the percentages but its a nice way to balance out the currently large community of firebirds and isidas.

bydolord:

Well I'm not into most sales due to not needing items  or on lower accounts my rank is not there to buy what I want...Also I only use rico... But I do buy other stuff like paints and drugs so this sale failed players.

KillerGnat:

Gotta see what it's like first.

3:What do you think could be changed about the sales?

drazeruzumaki:

Well this sale is a little different since they are giving the maximum sale for the least popular equipment. Actually there is a plus point of this sale too , idk if the devs wanted this but players may start using the not so used equipment more

Dragon_judgement:

I'm not sure why Tanki has gotten into this thing of where you have sales for specific things for every day of their events... I don't remember it ever being like this until recently. Kind of annoying and inconvenient (I'm speaking on behalf of the players now); even though I'm not a huge participant in sales, pretty sure some feel the same way. Paints on sale one day; Turrets on sale the next; etc... what's the purpose of it?

I would talk about the percentages, but we all know why the sales won't be higher than they already are... why people still continue to get upset about it is beyond me. I'll add that I personally never believed that high percentages in sales ruined TO's economy... I really just saw it as a way for them to get money out of our wallets; those willing to spend anyway.

Mr.Sarcastic:

I think the sale percentages could be changed to at least 45%.

Mindless categorizing of discounts

icerugby:

At least change the MU discounts to 40%+ and I'd be happy

bydolord:

Well they should have listened to players all over and not one group like they do all the time... The sale should not be done in weaker turrets and hulls to the most used… It should have been a equal sale on all items so all players can buy something. I understand why they did it but this sale will not be as bountiful as what they think. Players only buy if sales are good for them not the other way around..

KillerGnat:

Nothing, outside of the fact that I would of course like a bigger one :D .

Other Comments:

Mr.Sarcastic:

Oh,and another message to the staff and buyers who will get p***ed while reading this : You all get a salary/buy crystals. We non-buying players don't.

icerugby:

Not too badly presented by the tanki team

And, last but not least, my own opinion:

  1. How do you think the overall reaction to the sales are? And why?

The overall reaction? Terrible. Almost nobody that I’ve seen has been positive about the sales, basically because the sales aren’t all at least 40%.

2. What are your reactions to the sales? And again, why?

I’m a bit hacked off really. I planned to buy Hornet m2 or rail m2, but no. The sales were bullpaki, and thus I got NOTHING. Thanks.

3. What do you think could be changed about the sales?

Make them all 40%. We don’t want that ridiculous variety. Give us a flat rate of 40% or more and we’ll be happy.

So I guess the only conclusion that I can come to is that tanki hasn’t made many people so happy this year. There will be some who will surely come and flood this topic with cries of “You should be thankful!” and “It’s better than nothing!”. No. I would prefer no sale to this, this ‘get my hopes up’ rubbish…

Good day to you all. I hope you had a very merry Christmas   and a   happy new year.

Knits, I forgot to edit that. Now I look like a stupido when I say "I have to see them first." Keep in mind that Per sent the PM before the sales, so of course I couldn't give my reaction.

Nice

Thanks you flooder :D.

Nice

But many of the interviewees were probably clueless whether you were asking about prev sales, future sales or overall sales.

Thanks, and I told them that it was about the Christmas sales.

Pretty good questions, I guess. You interviewed the right people. ;) Try removing the spoilers.

Thanks, and I will do next time. :)

Spoilers make articles look 'nubish'. So, as TNT said, remove them. And one other suggestion, try to format headings and sub-headings, like for example; your questions and the names of the people.

Other than that, it is a wonderful interview.
