Bring back the old 'FAQ Questions and Answers' thread

Recommended Posts

Tanki says to "use the help site" instead of the forum for asking questions. But the thing is - who checks the help site? Looking through the recent help site questions, there seems to be only one main contributor - Adequacy. I believe that the old FAQ thread should be in the forum again. For those of you who don't know, this FAQ thread was one giant single thread where players could come to ask and answer questions. It was very effective - if a newbie had a quick, basic question, users could provide a quick response. The thread worked great - mods answered questions and many knowledgable forum users answered questions too. It was very easy to use and was linked directly with the forum. The current help site is a separate site and is barely touched by forum users. 15 hours ago, I asked a question, but it is still "awaiting moderation". If that old FAQ thread was here I am almost certain that I would already have solid answers.

TL;DR - Old FAQ thread was much more efficient, checked often by multiple users and moderators, and easy to use. Current help site has very little users, and long wait times.

Thanks for making this topic. I consider it a fact that the Help Site is a failure. I mean seriously, who even uses it?!? Plus, it isn't even supported for Mobile -.-

Just keep the Help Site if you want, but please, bring back the FAQ section <_<

Help Site was created with a genuine reason of concentrating all the FAQ's in one place. A single source of answers for all and any questions. Well, seems like it's still going to some time for older users to get used to it.

Help site is where Only CORRECT answers are given by the staff to the players, where no misleads are, also the developers decided it would be best that all the info about the game wouldn't be spread about so players wouldn't become confused.

If you need help click the Help button, I doubt it can get any simpler than that .-.

Look at this example.

And now look at this:

If you look at the time stamps, it took TWO MINUTES for me to get two answers...

The problem is, it seems to be that only one moderator is running the site. And questions are taking a long time to process. I posted a question 17 hours ago and it's still stuck on "awaiting moderation".

With the old FAQ thread, misleading/incorrect questions weren't really a problem. Second of all, normal users are allowed to go onto the help site and answer questions, too. And i'm not so sure how that thread was confusing - You post your question on this thread and players give you answers.

Also, if I need help, I shouldn't have to wait 17 hours (and counting) for my question to even just appear publicly.

Then the help site will have to be removed

That's basically what I'm asking for

Why not have both?

Cause users who are willing to answer questions (like me) are going to have to check both sites. I don't answer questions on the help site cause I believe the help site is rubbish. Bring back the FAQ thread and I will, just like I did when it still existed.

Edit: Fixed minor mistake

Don't say things you have no idea about. Issho is an extremely knowledgeable person who has been involved with helping the community since past many years. He was, if memory serves me right, Administrator of the Consultants group. So, doubting the credibility of his answers is baseless and wrong.

As for the topic, I do support reopening of FAQ section. While the help site is useful for getting detailed answers, it's certainly a long and tedious process to get an answer to a spontaneous question. Perhaps, only the topic 'Q&A' can be brought back and not the resources. Help site will still be used as for clarification of answers but one would easily be able to get a quick, precise answer to a query instead of searching for related queries on the help site. I don't see why it's not viable. After all, every forum in the world has such a topic.

I agree, bring it back.

It would stop so many topics in the forum for just simple questions. "How do I use in game supplies?" "When does X Kit disappear?(by rank)" "What map has the highest funds?" etc

I always see topics like those. The FAQ thread was perfect. I don't even bother looking at the "help" site, its just another forum I need to learn to use.

The old FAQ thread was efficient only due to the fact that users got used to it — if, instead of systematically complaining over new updates, features and projects, all of you could actually try and visit the Help Site more often, get to use it and find its characteristics, you would surely see how better and more organized it is.

The fact that you do not even use it doesn't mean that other users do the same — do not assume that if you do not like something all the other users won't aswell.

The old FAQ section was utterly outdated, not organized and NOT NEEDED anymore — Help Site and Wiki contain all the information needed related Tanki Online and, when something is missing there, it is added as soon as possible.

Forum was not the place to keep a FAQ area, it was just another duplicate of informations posted somewhere else.

As I already told you in PMs, it is not a matter of fast replies — all of you tend to want things done in few minutes, but this is not how the world moves on, you are probably missing some basic points here.

When someone is reported in the Chat Violations section, you want to see him / her banned just 5 minutes after you posted your report or you go to complain for the slow service — the same goes for all the other aspects of the Game.

NONE of you is able to wait the needed time. You must understand that we are not robots, we are not here 24/7 and we are not your slaves, we are users and peoples like you, so you must learn to wait your time when asking for something, it is something called "being patient and polite", thing that some of you really miss to know.

There is only one Help Site Consultant at the moment and he replies to 50+ questions' topic a day, both with already answered questions or with new questions and issues — I am sure that you can wait few hours for an OFFICIAL reply instead of coming on Forum and receive the following:

  • random post by the usual flooder
  • random post by the usual troll
  • random post by an user which doesn't even know your question nor the answer to it
  • random post by an user which posts his / her own question

This is also the current situation in the Problems and Solutions' section — players randomly join topics and reply to them, but only few players (which I must be gratefull to) are able to give a correct answer, an answer that is on the same level of the ones given by official Helpers.

It would really be better to make the Problems and Solutions' section pre-moderated, like the Chat Violations or Game Violations' sections, or maybe even close the Problems and Solutions' section and move it on the Help Site and let more Helpers reply there, this will reduce the amount of utter nonsense posted everyday and that bring users with issues to be even more confused.

Same, It's hard to track your questions on the help site. Plus, sometimes your question hasn't been asked before or none of the answers help.

How is it hard to track your questions? There is a HUGE search bar in the top-center of the page, it is pretty easy to use it.

The Help Site was made on the purpose of giving solutions to known issues OR follow the users in finding solutions for unknown issues — both things are done with OFFICIAL replies coming from the Devs, if those things do not work for you specificially, it doesn't mean that the fault is on Tanki Online side — for instance, if you are having lags and you already followed all the options on the Help Site, but you still have them, the issue is most probably on your side, we won't be able to do much, but you do not have the rights to claim that our answers did not help you.

False. The Q&A topic was an immense basket where topics like the ones you mentioned above were thrown (merged) into, nothing more.

The issue is, like I said in the first part of this post, that most of the users want everything immediatly, BUT NONE OF THEM EVEN BOTHER TO DO SOME RESEARCHES.

"How to change password?" "What does this kit has?" "Why was I banned?" "RANDOM QUESTION HERE" — if users actually started to stop being lazy and looked around, they would surely have found plenty of places where an answer for their questions was already posted!

In 5 years of being in the Game, 3 years of being an Helper, I saw really a little amount of users claiming to have taken a bit of their time to find a reply on their own, they all preferred to slack over other users of Helpers' knowledge, they all preferred to be lazy and drop a topic or two instead of searching for their answer.

We are not here to do your own actions, we are not your tutors — we can help you where needed, when an unknown issue comes up and similar situations, but if we already provided plenty of answers for something you must learn to find and read all what we posted about that something instead of re-asking the same thing over and over.

In conclusion, the fact that you do not bother to "learn to use it" is just another example of laziness — congratulations for being a good example ;)

P.S.: You can now claim that I am annoying, bad etc.. I do not mind, honestly.

Also (@@FC_BayernMunchen), "FBI was an hero, now we are stuck with Issho Fujitora" is a false claim, he indeed spent more time than me in that topic, but both me and FBI were Consultants (and, lately, Consultant Admins) at the same time and we both spent hours of time answering there.

You are claiming that I am useless — I'm fine with your own opinion, but I suggest you to visit the Problems and Solutions section and find out who gave the most detailed anwers during the past months, maybe you will find something ;)

All the answers given on Help Site, on Wiki and in Problems and Solutions' section are official ones, given by Devs and expanded by Helpers — Devs give short-specific answers, we are the ones expanding them to let users understand them.

As said by issho they don't need to close the help site people just need to actually pay attention to it. But (thus is Mike and multiple others opinion) they really need to make it useable on a mobile (phone / tablet) cause that is how most people (like my self) get on the internet
