Passes are closely bonded to Tanki Online from its primordial ages. Over the years, Tanki Online added and took away  numerous passes of various influences, but I dare to say that Pro Battle Pass exceeds all of them.  The special option that allows the player to freely fashion his battle to the slightest detail, makes this pass an exceptional tool.

Historical Background

Pro battle pass has its origins in No-supply pass that was added to the game way back in early 2010. In that  time, the battle customization  was pretty limited. No-supply pass represented a simple garage component that allowed the user to play battles with disabled supplies for mere 500 crystals. As the game developed further, the demand to modify and expand the options in No-supply pass increased, which led to the introduction of the Update 208.

This update brought the alternative to disable or enable crystal boxes and micro-upgrades in battles. Since the pass no longer offered just „no-supply option“, it has been swiftly given the name known to most of us -  Pro battle pass. Since that time, new gimmicks have been implemented to the pass so that the players can adjust their battles even more efficiently.

Present Use

Time and number of kills/points/flags

You surely must have noticed that Pro battles have different time and kills/flags/points restrictions. Normal battles are limited in maximum battle time and have constricted number of kills, flags and points respectively.

Pro battles are different due to Update 294 that renewed the timer option as well as number of kills/points/flags. This update allows the user to manipulate the timer and CTF, CP and DM/TDM values to desired number. The top is specified by number 999 representing the maximum.

Upgrades

Another implementation of the Update 294 offers tanker a choice to turn on/off the  micro-upgrades. As MUs play a crucial role in battles, it is of the utmost importance to have the option to freely regulate the influence of micro-upgrades in battle. If a player possesses highly micro-upgraded equipment, enabled MU option will most likely ensure his advantage in battle. On the other hand, disabling this feature creates a fairer environment for players that are looking for balanced gameplay.

Bonus Boxes

This option simply enables the player to shut down the supply drops (a.k.a. predictable drops)  in the map. Since one team can be naturally stronger when it comes to supply drop possession, it is necessary to evaluate your skills in this sphere. Disabled option of bonus boxes also creates a premise of the smoothest gameplay as players can fully concentrate on battle objectives which negates the burden of continual screening of supply spots.

Gold boxes

Recent addition to Pro battle pass truly fulfils the professional attribute. Those players that desire to play on really top level can now sleep peacefully as their less professional teammates will no longer be attracted to the gold lure once this option is selected.

Supplies

An option that was adapted from No-supply pass, is one of the main settings that the player is looking for when he creates Pro battle. Especially the professional players that base the game solely on skills and teamwork benefit from customization that eliminates the significant supplies power.

Smart supplies

Smart cooldowns (SCD) update was welcomed, but also criticized improvement of the game. Everyone who remembers that time when players roamed the battles with all three supplies activated at once, will confirm that facing such powerful enemy was a pain in the butt. SCD forced the players to involve a bit of the brain into the supply use.

However, this update negatively affected one specific group in Tanki Online. If you are familiar with collocation „Drug wars“ you must know that SCD killed or at least heavily restrained this particular mode. To satisfy everyone, development introduced the option to turn off the SCD in battles, which now allows to partly resurrect the old days of limitless supply use.

Format battles

Probably one of the biggest booms in Tanki that gave rise to a different way of playing. Fans of format battles could at last say; „No more Smoky/Prodigy in XP-K.“ The norms and rules of format battles have been specified. Nowadays tankers are able to choose from four formats – first three are allied with Railgun and Wasp/Hornet gameplay, today´s place where legends are born and skills are honed. Last one is parkour mode accommodated to requirements of players that have a different gaming tendency.

Private battle

Tired of random strangers that join your battle and afterwards let you down? You want to play with those you trust? Then this option is something you should check before you create a pro battle. Private battles are only visible to your invited friends.

Auto-finish

Early battle termination is another great update that eased the gameplay by lot. Often the battles have been endless, all the efforts were in vain, and players were just aimlessly burning their free time. After some edits, auto-finish was re-introduced in the game. Pro battles, though has the option to disable it, you know, just in case you are willing to wait for opponents to join.

Weapon change

Weapon Exchange is something we take for granted, but in the past you had to play the whole game with equipment selected before entering the battle. Disabling weapon change inserts fun and strategic component to the game. You have to analyze the map and predict what combos will players use in the map. Based on that you have to tag together your own combo. Once you join you can only play with that one turret, hull and color.

Future Possibilities

From the recent observations one can say that Fire/Wasp format is needed. Players really enjoy this unofficial format, usually on special occasions like celebrations. It has the same problems as present formats had in the past. They are mainly focused around disrespecting the unofficial rules of the format.

Another question that arises to attention is the prize of the pass. For  higher ranks, prize does not represent any problem. The amount is perfectly matching the ability to save required crystals. However, on lower ranks where the popularity of the pass is slowly increasing, it can still be problematic to gain five thousand crystals for a single pass. The question is, if  Tanki will be prompted to change the fiscal politic of the Pro battle pass.

It´s hard to predict what will players need to customize in the future or what the trends will be. What the future holds is unknown, but lets hope Tanki won´t implement anything like this bad... evil .... thingy qVm8Vt8.jpg.

There you go, that is all summed up about the Pro battle pass that in present days can be considered one of the best tools tankers can find in their garage. Feel free to comment on the Pro battle pass´ usefulness in the comments below.

Pretty good article if you ask me, it almost seems like an article from the official newspaper. The style of writing, the content itself, how everything is split up between sections. Very nice.
