Playing Time on Scoreboard

Recommended Posts

I walked into the middle of a battle some time ago and it was one of those "unending battles"(Glitch I think) where the timer says something crazy like 0:30:18:65, it looks like the battle hasn't started from the lobby, and the battle goes on and on forever until server update. The players there had very high scores and the highest person had I think 10k points and the lowest guy(besides me) had 5k. Then when they saw that my score was like 200 they started sabotoging me and saying that I was a noob and told me to get out of the battle.

This brought me to the idea "Playing Time". The idea is simple. Right next to your D/L, there will be a column for the time a player spent on the battle. Also, next to that column, there would be a "Pts/Min" column where it averages out the number of points a player gets per minute. This will help players know if a player has been spending a lot of time on the battle and how much progress they have in the battle.

Some questions answered:

1. Will the time keep on going if the players in on Pause Mode?

Yes because it shows that a player has not been active for a period of time.

2. Will the Pause Mode time be shown on the scoreboard?

Maybe. If this idea becomes popular and the devs feel the need for it then maybe yes.

3. Will the time keep on going when you hold down tab?

No. It might cause a lot of lag and headaches to see those numbers move every second.

4. Hows the time formatted?

All Battles less than 1 hour: Minutes:Seconds

+1 Hour: Hours:Minutes:Seconds

Valid

This is also useful for finding out mults. If someone gained around 100 points and then just went on pause, resetting pause every 5 minutes to avoid getting kicked, then their K/D will look like that of any other player that recently joined the game, however with the addition of this timer it will be easy to see when someone has spent ages sitting in pause mode and not playing for the team.

I guess also good for the players themselves to just be able to know. Maybe you'd want to keep track of the time you spent playing or if you join a battle you want to know how long other spent playing it.

You know to add on to this idea, maybe we should be able to vote to kick some people out only when their pts/min have become lower than a certain number.

If this idea become automated, it's best. :P

Good way to expose AFK Gold Hunters xD Ok on a serious note, great idea. It can also help keep track of stuff like how long it takes for you to complete a 5 flag Rio CTF etc.

This idea will effect the parkour battle's scoreboard too. It will help you keep track on how much time you spent on parkouring and when to leave the battle to go to a real battle for XP and Crystals.

Sry but No.

If I joins takes a double damage and use m1 thunder with m1 hull and playing against  m1 and m0 hulls playing poligion cp full of players.Come and destroy 4 to 5 tanks then capture their point.Capture 2 times and destroy 15 tanks(Drugging Badly) in 4-6 mins My score will be 350 and  I will be kicked for my skills?

this will be good since the Pts/Min idea is good enough to ban the mults that sabotage the battle rather than going through the tedious job of recording the 5 min video and uploading it for mods to verification

Pros

  • extremely simple to implement
  • a valuable assist tool for violator mods
  • will deter mults and sabotage
  • doesn't impact on any other areas of programming
  • doesn't impact on tanki's bottom line

Cons

No you wont be kicked. You can't be kicked because you are too good. You can only be kicked if you do nothing in like 20 minutes.

This isn't a kick topic. This idea is an idea to display information only. I for one would like to know how long those 2 players have had 0pts for on that side I'm considering joining. If I see they've had 0pts for 7 minutes then cya later - I'm finding me another battle with no mults. If you're scoring 350pts in 6 minutes then I'm joining your side!

Given that this game is plagued with mults on every server and in almost every competitive battle, there is no reason why this shouldn't be given priority status. The only objectors to this are those who like to mult and sabotage and maybe tanki themselves because mults are clearly beneficial to them having done nothing meaningful to combat them in years.

Oh yeah some people have been asking me whether or not if the playing time would be shown for each player when you are looking at a battle from the lobby. The answer would be that you can see the time and see the overall productiveness of a team.

So let's say a 15 minute battle started off 9-0. Then a group of overpowered players that drug hard join the losing side and the score quickly becomes 9-5. When you are looking at the battle, you might try joining the winning team so you have more odds of better funds and more points. With this idea, you can see the average points per minute for a team. So on the bottom of the score ratio, you fin in smaller font something like this.

      9               :              5

116 Pts/Min       :         512 Pts/Min
