Better roof hitboxes

Tanks aren't meant to be on the roofs anyway, so having this feature will have no benefit for battles. Parkour is OK even with this visual glitch, therefore the change isn't necessary. The only thing it will do is cause maps to load slower and possibly cause more lag because the building's hitbox will be more complicated and will require more complex processing in-game. This will probably be fixed in TX (if it isn't already).

Ok. Tanks have guns and strong protection. If they were made for having tea party's on rooves don't you think they'd have wings too? If you wanna learn how to get on the roof of a house in parkour my advice is to buy the PRO pass (so you don't self destruct) then watch the Tanki Online flying parkourist Vlogs to see how they do their awesome parkour. Then just gather some people from the general chat together and start your parkour. End of Discussion, cause there is no point of discussion this topic any further (No offence). But as maf said it gives no benefit to the player when being on the roof. Yes it might be a good sniping spot for certain turrets, but think about it. How easy is it to even get on? It takes several people to get one person on the roof. In normal battles those several people will fail; Reasons for this is cause they will just get killed in battle by the enemy team. Or they will just run out of time cause the battle will end quickly once enemy team has captured all your flags. Risking your team's match won't help you win. In parkour you just have to get better at flying in the air by mines and thunders/hammers shooting you.

And who said i want to learn how to get on roofs? I know how to do it good enought but there is this visual glich and sometimes it seems like you are already on roof and then you hit the invisible walls. Also there has been a lot of times when i have to think if that invisible roof will get in my way when i shoot.

How does madness loads in fast with all those complicated hitboxes?

And here is example what i expeience A LOT

In XP/BP, it does matter a lot. Yet I'm sure it will not be implemented.

Yes it does.

Ofc because i showed tank on roof everyone thinks only about parkour (Such a limited brain) but not about everything else it comes with.

Hm, this guy actually makes a strong response with a couple good points. If hitboxes weren't so disproportionate to the actual prop, it would likely improve gameplay since anyone who's played XP/BP regularly would have experienced obtrusive hitboxes on more than one occasion. That valid point makes this part of the response misguided...

Tanks aren't meant to be on the roofs anyway, so having this feature will have no benefit for battles.

...and then Dage also makes a fair point in refuting what you say here:

The only thing it will do is cause maps to load slower and possibly cause more lag because the building's hitbox will be more complicated and will require more complex processing in-game.

It would seem many maps with complicated hitboxes don't have severely different loading times or lag based on this factor, and remain perfectly playable despite their complexity.

I would also doubt how much changing say, a dozen hitboxes in a large map to make them more complex would really affect the in-game processing when the map has hundreds of other hitboxes to load already?

And finally...

This will probably be fixed in TX (if it isn't already).

Surely this isn't actually a reason for rejecting an idea for Tanki Online? After all, they're two separate games. If an improvement can be made to Tanki, I question how "TX will have this improvement" is a valid solution to the problem, for the improvement is desired in Tanki Online.

Heck, to address the only part of the explanation offered for Declining this idea that I haven't yet touched ("Parkour is OK even with this visual glitch, therefore the change isn't necessary"): it actually does make parkour more annoying for those who aren't 'parkour pros', as an unnatural and obstructive feature for parkour that one must get used to.

In short, I think this player has a valid point when raising an example of the general problem of very inaccurate hitboxes, and that there's definite merits to 'fixing' these hitboxes for TO's gameplay which haven't been properly addressed here. It's not a huge deal, but this fix would certainly improve both gameplay experience and the quality of the battle environment.

P.S. And I wouldn't normally comment, but I personally think this idea needs reconsidering or rejecting on a much stronger basis than the one offered.

Yeah, good points. I completely forgot about the fact that these corners often block shots and that is indeed annoying and requires a fix. And yeah, I guess I shouldn't be saying that this will cause maps to load slower, but I think the reason devs didn't do this yet is because non-cuboid hitboxes are somehow a lot more complicated to work with. I'll keep this idea under review then, until a developer actually explains why this can't be added (or maybe it can and they didn't get to it yet).

Simmilar thing is what i posted about dictator hitbox.

Its also cube but could be shaped differently meaning it wont get damaged when someone hits air above its front.

That idea gor rejected too for no good reason.

Also more useful for parkour.

I remember. Like I said above - developers did this to keep the game mechanics simple. I assume that having an entity with a more complex shape than a cuboid makes it hard to work with in terms of programming.

But, why when you decline an idea for Tanki Online, you mention Tanki X?

So that people know that this idea has already been implemented in the new version.

New version of what? These are two separate games. Sometimes you say something like "It will be implemented in Tanki X" (there are plenty of such examples in other topics). We all know that the only thing Tanki Online and Tanki X have in common is the publisher AlternativaPlatform. And nothing more than that.

Here's an example. I'm the proud owner of two Volvo cars in real life, and Volvo is owned by Geely. If I want some improvement in the next generation of Volvo V40, they can't say "No, but it will be implemented in Geely Emgrand EC7". You understand what I mean? :)

Sounds interesting to went from Declined to under review xD Good idea btw.

Let's face it, the two games are pretty much identical at the moment. Same equipment, same maps, same gameplay, same concepts. Pretty much the only difference is the interface, graphics and the way equipment upgrading works.

But I get your point, and as soon as OBT starts I'll stop declining ideas if they are already featured in TX. I'll only mention that the feature is in TX, so that the player can go and use it there, in case they didn't know.

And different platforms, separate servers, separate technical support, separate communities and so on. Still, not the same game. The publisher is the same, but they are two different products from the same publisher.

The last sentence sounds like softly forcing players to switch from Tanki Online to Tanki X. I hope that's not the case.

As TO moderator you SHOULD NOT recomend players to play different games.

LOL it's a game made by the same developers. It's not like I'm drawing away their player base.

Not forcing. But if a player wants to use a certain feature, then it's good to tell them that the feature already exists in a similar version of the game, in case they didn't know.

Oh c'mon mate, they have something in common, no one disputes that. But Tanki Online and Tanki X are two separate games. Two different products.

More like:

- Can I get leather pants?

- Sorry, we don't sell leather pants but you can buy them from our other store over there. Just keep in mind that they may be a different model than what you are looking for.
