Disable supplies by default for normal battles

When the "no-supply" battle pass was first introduced, the reason no-supply battles were behind a pay-wall was because developers considered the 500 (per battle) or 5000 (per month) crystals you pay for entry to be the payment instead of using supplies. So in no-supply battles you pay crystals directly to save supplies, while in normal battles you "pay" by having to use supplies, but don't pay for entry.

 

However, that no longer applies, because PRO battles are much more than just no supplies - they are an extended set of options that requires payment just like in any other game: you pay extra to unlock more options and custom content for more interesting games. Not to mention that you can make PRO battles with supplies now, so you end up paying for entry AND using supplies.

 

Therefore, I think it makes sense to consider supplies to be "bonus content" which makes battles more interesting and fun, and in order to unlock it the player should be forced to purchase a PRO battle pass and use supplies in PRO battles, while default battles are kept as boring as possible, with no supplies, formats or any extra options.

 

Simple logic, don't you think? :)

Hmm. I think a much, much better option is to be able to turn supplies on or off for non-PRO battles. Every Gissmo that has tens of thousands of every supply would feel a little cheated, don't you think?

I'm sure if the player has thousands of supplies, then they can also afford to spend 5000 a month on a PRO pass.

No, what I meant by that is players that have spent a lot of crystals on supplies won't be too pleased they can't use them in the majority of battles :P.

 

Two other points that I thought of now too:

 

1) Games would be a lot harder. I would LOVE that, more intense matches etc, but I know a lot of tankers don't share my enthusiasm.

 

2) Supplies would become non-existent. Tankers wouldn't spend 5,000 crystals to be able to use supplies that they have to pay for. Generalissimos would, but your average player looking to save as much crystals as possible, probably wouldn't.

I personally wouldn't like this to be implanted much.

One of the most interresting battles I've ever played, was 4 hours  of Silence M3/M4 (other account; until Server restart), with turned off supplies. We had only those drop boxes, and my team was behind ilke 80:40 flags as I entered. In those 4 hours we managed to turn the tides and ended up with about 110:85 flags. This is about 1 _successfull_ flagrun all 3 minutes - and a lot of failed tries in between. This battle was not boring at all ;)

 

Playing without supplies is very exciting once you are used to it.. because at higher ranks it increases the need for better tactics. You can not simply activate a HK if they catch you on the wrong foot during your attack. You have to adapt and become a midfield attack supporter then, until you are downed. You have to work more as a team, instead of having a team relying on that 2 or 3 hardcore druggers, that bring in the flags and win the battle for their team.

Thats true, but right now only dedicated players join those matches. Its rare to get Major's/M2 combo's/mults (unless placed there on purpose) in them. If no supply battles became free, those battle would be full of the just mentioned players. Leaving the fun and the hopes of one team winning behind. 

Supplies can reduce this gap in some circumstances.

If a player or a team can only perform by using drugs, then they do not understand the term 'game' and probably have not the right skills. In my 'humble' opinion all these drugs are nuisance only. Look at weekends, full of superdruggies, who can absolutely nothing than drive into the middle of the game and use one drug after another. What has this to do with a game? I would more call this psychological disorientation.

I respect your opinion.. and have a different one.

 

When gismos create battles they have learned pretty well, that the rank range shall be set accordingly. I see it often that my higher ranked XP/BP friends are in public battles that I can not access from my current rank.

 

So keeping Majors and red-stars out of highranked battles works fine today - if the creator of the battles cares for it.

Besides -> for gismos -> the default-rank range for the creation of a standard battle -> does not include major. Thats true.. it is possible to adjust it _down_ to Major, but the default rankrange for creating new battles starts higher. This already helps a lot.

No dude its not ''simple logic''. I know what you're doing. You wanna make everything more expensive. If this gets added then normal battles won't have supplies. In a way that would be super awesome and wait normal battles don't have supplies... Ok I'm up for this idea. Its seems awesome :D

I don't like druggers and drugging, but this wouldn't work that well.  All the non-drug players would go to this battle, as a result the battles where drugs are legal would be FILLED with druggers trying to out-drug each other as fast as smart cooldowns allow.  The whole point of drugs is to give in an advantage, but where's the advantage when everyone else is doing the same thing?  Like on the test server lol.

 

I think instead, the pro battle pass should be cheaper, and pro battles should allow you to choose a specific set of hulls and turrets (ex. only twins, ricochet, viking, hunter, dictator allowed.  \

 

HOwever, I could see this being implanted if TAnki found another way of making money, such as allowing buyers to customize their paints.  It wouldn't affect gameplay, but a lot of people would pay real money for a custom paint.

There is a big difference towards the testservers: in the real tanki drugs are not for free.

That's the only reason why they waste them on the testserver as hard as they can.. because they are for free.

I don't know.. I cant even remember that I met a player higher then Major, that did not already own a pro battle pass.

 

Towards your second concern.. maybe it _would_ be better, if the non-pro battles would have a switch to disable drugs; and per default this switch is off (non drugs=default). Then attach a certain symbol left to the battle name (like the star for "pro" today..) and it could work. But this deviates a little from the original idea.. lets see what Mafioso thinks about it.

OK, people with too many supplies can afford 5K pro but not everyone else = alomst no pro battles below gissimo ok

 

just make non supplies an OPTION in non pro.

If you can't afford a PRO pass, then why would you want to waste your supplies on PRO drug wars?

I am playing drug wars every day at RU2. But I don't need a PRO pass to play them, nor I want something like that.

You have to buy a PRO pass as well as supplies.

So in that case if you don't have crystals - play normal battles like an average non-paying user.
