Parkour Life Hacks

Simple tricks that can come in handy

Unflip a tank

You can shoot the edge of the tank, with enough impact force and good aim you'll flip him back.

Another way is placing mines next to the flipped tank and pushing him on these mines.

Get on a tank

Sometimes you don't have a ramp or a place to jump from near by and you might be using a non recoil turret or a heavy hull. In these cases there are a few more ways you can use to get on another tank, even a really tall one.

The simplest way is to use mines, but there are more ways in case you don't want to waste your supplies and make black marks on the ground.

If you have an edge near by you can lean off of it just a little to get your front raised high enough to get on your friend. Or you could do an Edge Jump.

Your friend can shoot you while you are pushing each other, it will raise your front enough to get on him. If one shot isn't enough but your hull is light enough to be raised up a little this way, just shoot a few more times.

If you have a cliff, tree, broken fence or anything else that you can easily make a ramp on it, use it to raise your front and then turn sideways towards your friend. Or you can have your friend making a ramp on it and then you can swing and get on him easily even with a non recoil turret. The steeper he is, the easier it will be to get on him.

Don't get banned for flood

When you count down in chat, start counting from 2 instead of 3 to not get banned for flood, will also be more convenient because you don't really need this extra second of waiting.

Remove black marks

When recording a video, you can remove all those ugly black marks that were created by mines and thunder shots from your previous attempts by having a Hammer shoot a wall twice. Hammer shoots 9 many pellets at a time, and only the last 10 mark stay in the map without fading away so 2 hammer shots are enough to remove all other marks. The marks will disappear slowly but surely, and additional Hammer shots will not speed up the process.

Don't take splash damage from your own shots

If you go through a wall from it's invisible side (easiest to do in Rio through the big yellow building) you'll be unable to damage anyone with your shots, but no one will see your shots and will not be affected by them so it's mostly good just for doing OMP with Thunder if you want to save on supplies. With Magnum it makes your shots visible and you will be able to impact others, but you still won't be able to damage anyone. You also won't be able to pick up boxes with this bug, so you'll have to use your own nitros.

Mouse Control

You probably have heard about the Mouse Control in Tanki Online, but many players, especially parkourists, don't use it. Despite the fact that parkourists calls mouse users 'noob', there is nothing to be shy about it.

In the cases where the jumper has a railgun, it is extremely difficult to quickly look front and shoot because of the turret's slow rotation speed. The mouse control solves this.

In other cases like where a helper is flipped on its side in order to shoot the jumper in air, it is rather obscene to not be able to look at the jumper and time your shot correctly. Mouse control enables you to look back yet shoot front.

Using mouse to parkour is really helpfull. To enable this feature, you need any browser that supports mouse control (e.g. Opera and Firefox) or the Tanki Online Client. Once you start playing in any of the platforms, make sure that you enable mouse control in the settings. A tick mark should be beside the "Mouse Control" in the Settings Menu. Go to a battle, and rotate your turret to your desired position; then hold your RMB (Right Mouse Button) and slowly drag your mouse in order to change your camera position without changing the rotation of your turret.

Do NOT let go of the RMB or else your turret will move towards the position where your camera was looking at. You can freely move your tank and camera position without changing your turret position. If you get tired of holding the RMB, you can simply press Enter, and your camera position will be still. To move, simply press "Enter" again.

To shoot, you simply need to click your LMB (Left Mouse Button).

Sometimes you will get REALLY tired of holding the Right Mouse Button: So you can simply hold the RMB for a short time, and then (without letting go of the RMB), switch tabs using Alt + Tab on your keyboard. Once you have switched tabs, you can go back to Tanki by switching tabs again, but this time, in Tanki, you will realise that you don't have to hold the Right Mouse Button to change camera position.

Note: If you press RMB again, or click your LMB, the feature will reset.

Is this still true?

The number of pellets was decreased from 21 to 9, and the amount of marks that can stay without disappearing is 10. means now the hammer needs to shoot twice to remove everything, but yeah still true, hammer is still great for removing marks. thanks for reminding me about it tho, I should update it and say one shot isn't enough anymore

Want to bump but have ping over 100? Use railgun instead. Since railgun has a delay, it is more of an anti lag turret.

It doesn't really avoid lag, the game client still got to send a message to the server telling exactly where you hit with that railgun, and if you have lag and the message arrives later it's exactly the same as if you used any other turret and lag made it look like you shot late.

It does have to send a message to the servers, but not unless you do not rotate your turret. My life hack was for the bumpers. When a bumper will shoot with railgun, like at battle time 1:32, the jumper will receive the information that railgun was triggered at that time, so obviously it will automatically fire at 1:31 (railgun's warm up is about 1.1s). Either way, railgun works better for bumping

If whatever I said above is wrong, at least your team mates won't blame you for lagging XD

U never seen a lag where a railgun charges and doesn't fire until a few seconds later? lol

And the server won't make assumptions about you not turning your turret while you're lagging and your messages aren't reaching the server. I'm a programmer so I have an idea of how this stuff works "behind the scenes" and what is logical for the game designers to do, plus I made some experiments to confirm this ofc :P

oh I forgot to tell you... they changed Hammer so bump doesnt work with it the same anymore, but its not cause of lag, it just pushes instead of pulling

That's a good thing, right? If more push, then more bump. And how can it 'pull'?

you did that trick so many times and didn't notice how it works? lol

The shot pulls the jumper behind you, if it would push him it would only slow him down

I don't get it, how?

When someone bumps you, you accelerate and move over him even faster than you would if he didn't shoot you, even though he shot to the opposite direction.

This one only works in space mode. And it's best to try it in Rio where the barricade and ramp are side by side, well sort of. Have someone use rail and hornet and have their back ends toward the barricade and that they are flat on the ground, make sure they are pointing their turret at the barricade, this way they can see who's coming and be ready to shoot them up. Now the other person should get a light hull and maybe fire and should start coming over the ramp and over the barricade and over the railgun. Now the railgun should start firing while climbing up the barricade and shoot at the fire as it comes up. This would require timing and practice. But once mastered, you won't have to worry about tapping those keys anymore.
