Greetings Tankers! The upcoming Clan System is the subject of much excitement and speculation, and there are plenty of Tankers who are eagerly waiting its belated release. And now, that time is drawing very near. With the announcement on this subject in last week's Vlog,we now have an idea of what to expect with the first section of this large update. Here I have collected everything we currently know, and added a few ideas of my own.

According to Episode 122 of the Vlog, several Veteran clans have been given Clan System Licenses to test the social part of this new feature. This heralds its much-anticipated arrival, and not before time ; The Clan System was first announced in the 102nd Vlog, on August the 16th 2016 and it was at first planned for November later that year but technical issues meant its release had to be postponed.

Let's take a closer look at this massive update.

The Clan System - Breakdown :

The system is scheduled to enter this game in 3 different parts: Social, Economy and Clan Battles. The Social section is the part currently being tested by the established clans, and their are two known 'Dummy' clans (test Clans set up by the Developer team, and the Official Tester team). These two are named Tanki Online, and TO Testers.

A past Vlog also mentioned that the Clan System would be available for players of all ranks and preferences, appealing to players who are new to the game.

The 'Social' Element :

This was the first element to be completed, and subject to further testing it should be available Game-wide sometime in the next few days. In this section one can purchase a Clan License, by clicking the Clan button at the top of the page, and it is available only by using real currency.

Once the license has been acquired, one can assume you can simply activate it to take you to the Clan Creation screen. Here you decide on the name, the name tag which will appear next to every clan member's username, choose an appropriate flag (community depending) and then write a brief description.

You (as you purchased the license) will become the leader of the clan, titled as 'Supreme-Commander'. Once this is done, you may promote your most trusted members to the rank of 'Officer', now renamed as 'Commander'. These players will have the great responsibility of recruiting new members into your clan. There are also 'Sergeants', but their role is still unknown.

But one does not have to be approached by an existing member to join a clan. Simply search the name of the clan in the special pop-up, then click 'Join Clan'. A request, very similar to the style used in the Friends System, will appear in the clan you wish to join. The 'Requests Management' page displays your current pending requests, and possibly even showing the requests clans have sent to you.

Finally, the last part of the Social Element is the Clan Chat. Here, members of the clan can converse freely without being interrupted or distracted by the lobby chat. An interesting feature allows clan members to all participate in the same chat, regardless of which server they are currently on.

Savage's opinion : 10 members isn't a lot, considering most clans are usually more than twice this size. I also hope that the "Clan application" method will be improved, as it seems far too simple at this stage. Also, having the option to invite other players (members from other clans to discuss wars etc) to the Clan chat would be a neat feature.

The 'Economy' Element :

This section may or may not have been completed, as not much information has been released regarding it. What information we do have, though, is highly interesting and definitely highlights the positives of joining a Clan.

The 'Base' Clan is essentially just the Social and Clan Battle side of the System, and the Economy section requires Players to function. A special Clan currency will form part of this element, available to clan members if they fulfill certain conditions in game. This currency can then be used to upgrade your 'Base' clan. Some of the know upgrades include bonuses on crystals and Experience earned, entrance to Pro battles while lacking a pass, daily supply gifts and other special perks. You can also expand the maximum number of members that the clan can hold.

Savage's opinion : This section sounds very worthwhile. The potential of getting free supplies, more crystals, more members into your clan and free access to Pro Battles seems to be the reason why many players are already asking to join clans.

The 'Clan Battle' Element :

This mechanism, in the words of Tanki, is a huge step towards eliminating the mult problem. You can create special battles which will only be available for clans, so there is no danger of a potential sabotage. Once a member of any clan joins an empty clan battle (or an empty side), only players from his or her clan will be allowed to join that team. If a member from a different clan joins the opposing team, only players from his clan will be able to join from that point onwards.

Savage's Opinion : I'm not sure how this section will start eliminating the mult problem, since all clan wars are created in private anyway, and players join only through invitation. However, the ability to play in public without the risk of sabotage seems promising.

Now, we move onto the Clan Interface, which will be released along with Social part.

Clan Interface :

The Clan Profile from the tester clan 'Tanki Online'.

This is essentially a clan's version of a player's profile, and displays information regarding the clan and its members.

We can see that it displays the Clan Name, Tag, Description, Date of Creation, Number of Players, Clan Founder, Total Kills, Total Deaths and Average Member K/D. There is also a list of the members, showing (as well as Kills/Deaths/Position in the Clan/Experience) their time spent in the clan, and their last visit.

There is also a button where you can send a request to the Clan, and probably once the other elements are added the Interface may expand further to include their current amount of Clan Currency, the Clan's victories and defeats, and possibly a button that sends that clan a war challenge (but obviously it would have to have restrictions emplaced on it).

Savage's Opinion : The Interface seems fairly concise at the moment, and here I can speculate a little. Because Rank, Kills, Deaths and K/D seem to be fairly prominent features, my guess would be that a new player gives the clan an amount of currency corresponding to those 4 statistics (Example : The Clan would get more currency if a joined compared to a ).

I'm not sure I like this idea, since clans may become more interested in K/D and Rank rather than skills.

How Will This Update Affect The Game? :

There will be a lot more interest in clans, and this update will definitely make it accessible to more players (people who are ignorant of the Forum, players who find the Forum too confusing etc). More interest will also be caused by the bonuses on option fro Clan members, and Clan Wars will become more frequent, and this update may move Tanki up to a more competitive level.

I don't think this will do anything for the mult problem though, because multing in clan wars wasn't usually (as far as I know) a problem, as I have stated earlier.

Conclusion :

I think there are still some tweaks to be made to this System; some refinements could be made to the Social side, and the Clan Interface. The Application method seems a little cheap right now, and I'm sure there are plenty of ways it could be improved. Maybe a new 'Trial' role could be made for members on test at the clan, allowing the leaders to see if the new player has potential before accepting him or her.
The System  on the whole though will be a positive update for Tanki, and I believe it is a step in the right direction.

Be sure to look out for more information in the upcoming Vlogs.

Update 01/02/2017: A new Pro Battle icon was added, symbolising whether the battle was for clans or not.

Update 03/02/2017: Clans are now available for the entire community, though the price is not for a thin wallet.

I hope you enjoyed reading this article, and hopefully I'll be able to do some other similar works in the future!

Thanks for reading!

Second Review: Price $36 USD (46 AUD) for basically looks and only the benefit of clans joining battles. Not worth it.

You did well though ;)

I think Developers are operating under the assumption that more players that traditionally are not associated with eSports will participate in clans because the function is accessible in the game and not through external site. I still remain skeptical in regards to the claim that it would reduce the mult problem.

Nice job :) Looking forward to the next one
