The Ultimate Guide to Deathmatches: Polygon DM

I will be writing my next few articles on mastering  DM battles. I will be starting this with a popular map - Polygon. This guide will help you dominating these battles easily.

All About DM:

  • Deathmatches ,  a popular mode of Tanki , is a mode where the tanker needs to play solo. In this mode, kills matter more than the damage done to the enemy. For example, You are a Firebird and after firing at the enemy Mammoth you bring his health very low. But suddenly a Railgun fires at the Mammoth and gets the kill . The Railgun gets the experience. In short you must be a "Kill-Stealer" to win DMs

Dominating DM Battles:

  • To dominate a Deathmatch battle , you need to make sure that you don't team with people [see picture below.] You may be thinking "Why are you saying that?" and the reason is teaming with someone reduces the number of tankers you can kill. There can be some exceptions like teaming with a person who is hard to kill for you , but chances of that happening are less.

  • You should also know which enemy is on the least health and can be killed. You should decide killing which enemy would take away your least health.

For example , a Railgun-Hornet somehow manages to shoot a Titan-Smoky thrice and the Smoky has also dealt some damage to the Hornet and you are standing beside them, you should kill the Hornet first because it has low HP. Then you should turn towards the Smoky and kill him too. If the other way would have been chosen , it could have happened that the Railgun would have killed the Titan once you would had damaged it and then hidden somewhere. You can only truly dominate DMs if you think in this way.

Dominating Polygon DM:

Polygon is a map which isn't incredibly suitable for camping. It is completely open and therefore a player needs to keep change his position to get a good score and crystals. Now, let's get into details about fighting in this map with different Turrets and Hulls.

  • Firebird: A turret useful in this map. Its fire can be used to destroy light and medium hulls easily. In a drug battle , it can be extremely over-powered. Firebird with the "Compact Tanks" alteration can put you on the top of the table.

  • Freeze: It can be useful if you know how to use the turret. If the supplies are available , then with a double damage it can get many kills.

  • Isida: Its high Damage-Per-Minute can make it useful for killing players and stealing kills.

  • Hammer: The best choice for DMs especially Polygon DM. If the three shots are used wisely, it can kill at least three people before you face death. If used with "High Capacity Drum" alteration and a Double Damage , it can easily help you to reach the first position.

  • Shaft: It isn't a good choice as many close range weapons are playing in the map and can put you at the bottom of the table.

  • Ricochet: Great choice as the walls can be useful for the ricochet effect. If used wisely, can be a great tool for coming in at the top of the table.

  • Striker: I won't suggest you this until you are an expert in using arcade shots. A salvo cannot be always used in such maps. But yes , if you know how to use this turret , you will rule the match!

  • Thunder: An all-rounder turret that can be very useful in DMs because of its splash damage. With double damage , it can be very dangerous.

  • Twins: Its never-ending ammunition can make it useful for continuous firing on the enemy and for stealing kills. Its splash damage though makes it dangerous to use as the danger of self-destructing can bring its position down in the table.

  • Railgun: A great turret to steal enemy kills. If used wisely by hiding yourself at every moment , it can be very useful.

  • Vulcan: A nice turret to continuously fire on enemies with short breaks in middle. Can help in getting many kills in one go.

  • Smoky: A turret to steal enemy kills but should be used at the right moment or it will give advantage to kill the tank to someone else.

Now let's see which hull can be useful.

  • Hornet and Wasp: Useful with Freeze, Fire, Isida, Railgun, Hammer and Twins. It can get kills by moving and hiding around the whole map.

  • Viking, Dictator and Hunter: Useful with Thunder, Smoky, Striker, Fire, Twins, Ricochet, Freeze, Hammer, Railgun and Vulcan.

  • Titan and Mammoth: Useful with Smoky, Thunder, Striker, Vulcan and Shaft.

Thats it tankers! Hope you liked this guide. My next guide will be coming soon :) Till then, go dominate Polygon DMs!

Approved.

Good job. Nicely formatted, and some good points in there. There are actually some decent camping points (for Deathmatches) in Polygon, at the very top of the map, or behind the houses. But yes, it's usually important to keep moving.

Edits:

- Added colour to the subheadings.

- Edited title.

- Corrected some grammar errors (remember "let's" is the correct contraction for "let us").

- Rephrased 1 sentence which didn't make sense.

- Corrected a few typos.

Looking forward to reading the next one :)

good attempt

the advice appears to be for DMs in general and doesn't go map-specific enough

try writing more deeply and explaining the map's areas DM-wise; and where one should operate or what one should do if one is using a certain turret in Polygon DM

more pictures would be advisable

You try camping anywhere but someone will come and spawn near you and you have to leave the place then

^ The sentence which sounded odd was originally worded like this.

"Only if you think in this way will you dominate DMs".

It sounded a bit too much like a Yoda quote to me, so I changed it to "You can only truly dominate DMs if you think in this way".

I camp with no problems (usually) in Polygon DMs. It just involves some tactical mine placement.
