Being able to select paint in a kit

Recommended Posts

Credit to jdc20181 for the idea: "I think, even though this was declined, that they may eventually allow you to choose paints from a set of paints - of equal or lesser value than the one default with the kit, but they aren't going to let you switch anythng else - it would make the kit a different price which would take too much time."

Since paints are only for looks, I think this would be a great idea.

For example, say someone wanted the Predator kit, which has Jaguar paint (300 000 crystals) but they didn't like the way the paint looked. They could choose to replace it with any paint (at their rank) that costs 300 000 or less.

Seems like a nice idea, but very unlikely that it will be implemented. Like I said in your previous topic, kits are non-negotiable offers, so you either take what you are offered or ignore it. And that includes paints too. Besides, changing the kits to include a whole new paint selection menu seems like a lot of work for not much overall benefit.

This could be abused -- someone could buy the mightiest kit and change it's paint for something like Orange or something...

So? That person would simply miss out on getting an expensive paint. How is that abuse?

I think he is referring to the massive discount put on kits with expensive paints (e.g. "Predator", which has an 80% discount as it contains Jaguar).

If you took Jaguar out, you would still get 80 percent off the equipment in the kit... see what I'm saying?

I think he is referring to the massive discount put on kits with expensive paints (e.g. "Stormbringer", which has a 70% discount as it contains Zeus).

If you took Zeus out, you would still get 70 percent off the equipment in the kit... see what I'm saying?

Well, you still pay the same price, which includes Zeus. This isn't suggesting to reduce a kit's price by choosing a cheaper paint.

The only catch would be they would probably have a set number of choices. So its still a non negotiable offer, meaning everythig stays in the same price bracket, As I said in the declined suggestion, about kits I said that it could be possible to switch those up. But they would still be from a select few of a equal or lesser value.

So if it were such a kit for Red orange and blue paint you wouldn't be able to get something like one thats 100k crystals only in that price bracket

For this to happen they would need to re-price paints, which they will do eventually, and have them in a certain price range. They did it with Turrents and Hulls - they are cheper now bost are between 20k cry and 40k cry. Which I know there is a 20k cry difference but you get a kit for a fixed price its what ya get.

You want cheaper stuff thats fine, but just remember once that kit is purchased you cant get those discounts again.

Kits are purchased as a single item, so if you wish not to have a paint, there is still a way to get specified equipment you want - from Turrets, Hulls, Paints, Protection, Supplies sections in the garage. *1

Get the eye of developer, you can't always allow everything, especially they will not cross logical rule being there for years. *2

As says: "You can't get everything on discount" on idea for being able to make own product kits, that also worth for this, you can't get any paint on discount. You're going to say "but only those paints with less price" but especially consider above mentioned *1, *2. :)

This would work, it couldn't be abused, and a lot of players would love an update.

However, I don't think it should be implemented. Kits are kits, after all, and even a small customization option ruins the "kit" feel and purposes.   It's not a "pick and choose" package, however much I would like that.

Or just get rid of the paint from the kit and open up the paints to more ranks. If paints are open to more ranks, then it means it opens up the possibility of more sales.

It would be nice to see more budget paints included with kits instead of the billion dollar varieties. Even if you can't choose, and leave the

expensive ones to those with nothing else left to buy.
