Well here it is, 10 000 posts. It feels like only yesterday I joined the forum and started playing the game even though it was over 6 years ago. So, I thought I would share some of my best memories with all of you in a totally original topic idea. Enjoy it!

 

 

Wait, how do you do that? 

 

I was introduced to Tanki Online by my best friend in real life all the way back in late February 2011. I immediately fell in love with the game when he showed me. That same day - as soon as I reached my home, I started my own account. I wanted my nickname to be lukey, because that was my real nickname then, and funny enough it has been stuck as 'lukey' till this day. Sadly that name was taken, so I decided to add a 0 to the end of it. You can probably guess why because I'm not telling.  :rolleyes:  After leaving the game to load for ages I finally logged into the lobby. There it was, a Summer Sandbox DM titled "For Newbies"; so I joined it. 

 

After I loaded in, I spawned with my M0 Smoky Wasp. There on my screen I saw this blue box falling from the sky with tanks rushing towards it. I had no idea what it did, nor did I know you could even collect it! Or that it was the life of Tanki.

After that, I headed to the garage. I looked through everything in the shop, every paint, turret and hull. Reading the somewhat entertaining descriptions that they all had, especially the paints. I looked at the prices, then at my balance which consisted of a mighty 10 crystals. (Which is what you started with) I thought to myself, "How on earth do you save up that many diamonds." Not thinking that it would become easier to collect more the more you ranked up. So, I bought the much loved 'Holiday' paint for 0 crystals and received a pop-up. "Congratulations on your first purchase. Your reward: 5 crystals" I truly felt rich at that point. 

 

I continued to play and rank up. Making the progress of about a rank every two days. (Don't judge, I was noob then.  :lol:) I also bought everything new I unlocked - which was a very bad idea, especially since I liked none of it. I bought both Firebird and Hunter costing 5 and 10 crystals respectively, just spending all the crystals I was just gifted from Tanki. 

 

After some disappointment, I finally found my combo: Twins-Titan. Or so I thought till I played a Serpuhov CTF. I kept driving down to the center the map, every time I would be killed by 2-3 Railguns. After doing that for about ten minutes, and trying different routes I turned salty and was about to rage quit. That was till I saw my first Gold Box! Not knowing how to activate drugs I kept trying to catch it, not even knowing what it did. I just wanted to get closer because I had never seen anything like it before. After failing again and again someone eventually took it. Typically, thanks to my good luck I managed to reach that spot just moments after it was taken by an enemy. So, I waited there, thinking another would drop soon... 

 

Now what read would this be without my first Gold Box catch? My very first Gold Box catch was in a Sandal CTF a few days after Tanki's graphics were updated to what we know today. I was using my trusty Twins Dictator and when I was midway re-spawning I saw that shiny golden box on the right side of the map. Being a First Sergeant and still not knowing how to activate supplies, I rushed as fast as my tracks would go to grab it and take it's loot. Sure enough I reached it and took it with a cheeky grin on my face. I was so excited I jumped from my chair and barely even noticed the green text on the screen saying 'lukey0 has taken the gold box'!

Now it was approaching towards the end of 2012, I had bought some nice equipment and saved up a lot of crystals. My first M3 purchase was Twins and I broke my first keyboard within the week loved it! My main hull was M2 Dictator and the combo worked well, but I was WO3 and was starting to face Tier 2 equipment so I was beginning to feeling weak. I had saved roughly 14 000 crystals and I was expecting a small New Year sale to purchase M3 Dictator, M2 Mammoth and M0 Shaft if I ranked in time. Then, out of know where appeared the biggest update in Tanki; The Rebalence! I came home from school that day and I was shocked. Everything I had bought was refunded, and I couldn't wait to spend those crystals again. Completely forgetting about a possible sale I rushed to my garage and bought; M1 Dictator, M1 Hornet, M1 Mammoth, M1 Ricochet, M1 Shaft and finally M1 Freeze. Possibly the worst choices I made in my entire Tanki career. Everything but the hulls and Freeze were badly nerfed after the Rebalence. Despite my bad choices, I persisted on!

 

A really clear memory for me during this time would be playing on the Gallery map that was added to the game for a short time for testing purposes. It wasn't the only map added at the time, the second one was Crash, but it didn't have any crystal box drop points so it didn't interest me very much, and I think others felt the same way. It was rarely seen on the server battle lists. Gallery was a great map, plenty of crystal drop points for a mult like me and the 'ribs' of the map were a great place to snipe from with Shaft, I even caught a Gold Box up there once! I played it all the time and it was a great map even though it had a huge FPS drop. I'd love to see it in the game again eventually.  :)

 

It was around April 2013 and I was nearly Second Lieutenant. I was keen to rank, as I wanted that M2 Hornet. I would also be able to play on Silence II, a map I badly wanted to play since Silence I was my favorite map. Not because it was like 80% of the map choices on the battle list and a great way to mult for crystal boxes. I ranked, in Silence of course. The adrenaline was pumping, I just couldn't wait to buy that M2 Hornet. Once I did, I wasn't disappointed. It looked and felt amazing, I loved it! I quickly ranked again, now to First Lieutenant. I decided to give Ricochet another chance so I also bought that M2. Umm, well, what can I say about it? Nothing really appropriate here... Little did I know that in just a few ranks I would be versing something much more dangerous in Polygon DM's.

I was just a little fish in a huge pond. In other words: an M2 Hornet M1 Twins (Yes Twins because it was stronger than M2 Ricochet, still trying to figure why to myself.) versing M2 Mammoth M2 Twins. It was time time in Tanki when diversity was non-existent. DM was Mammoth-Twins, that simple. So, after being obliterated for a while, I knew what I had to do. Simply not play DM.

 

I ranked to Major very quickly and just my luck, Tanki had a 'Choose your discount' sale on. The most voted for hull would be 50% off, so I voted for Mammoth and cheered it on behind my computer screen. Wasp was its main competitor, but sadly the votes were rigged in the end. People cleared their browser cache so they could cast another vote. In the end both Mammoth and Wasp were 50% off, I was over the moon! Literally. I rushed to my garage to buy it and M2 Mammoth was a dream come true. I was ready for Polygon DM's. 

 

Quickly gaining both XP and crystals it wasn't long till I ranked and I needed a special purchase which came right in time. Tanki Online's 5th birthday was right around the corner, so I waited it out a week and bought that beauty on another 50% discount. Certainly worth it! I also bought M2 Dictator, not sure why. I guess I just wanted to try it as an M2 version. Ready for combat I quickly took my M2 Twins M2 Mammoth and Sandstone into a Polygon DM. I could feel the power behind my tank, quickly rising to the top with other M1 Twins M1 Mammoth's quickly wanting to team with me, I took no prisoners. After finishing it with drugs because an M2 Smoky M2 Mammoth (Another very common combo for DM. I know, not the best variety in battles back then.  :lol:) I won. Wining battles, especial Polygon DM's was very easy now. Them crystals started to pour in!

M3's here I come! 

 

I won't bore you with anymore details about Twins Mammoth - I basically ranked to Lieutenant General with it. My only purchase between then was Emerald at Major General which meant that Thunders were no-longer a threat.  

While that was happening, testing of the well-know Micro Upgrades was underway. Once it was released on 18th December, just days before the New Year sales, there was also a surprise. Crystals for ranks! I earned a massive 160 000 crystals thanks to the update and that boosted my saving's even higher, I was ready for the New Year sales. 

 

When the sale day came I purchased M3 Hornet, M3 Viking and finally M2 Railgun. With my new Emerald paint I was very happy. I certainly enjoyed using Railgun, it was very different to Twins.

When I ranked to General, a 50% discount was on Railgun, I couldn't wait to buy M3. On Double Power, or now known as Double Damage, it could 1 shot 90% of the enemies I would face. This lead to me having higher than normal D/L's and often coming first in most battles I played.

I continued playing with the same combination, favoring Viking over Hornet due to it having more HP. June came around fast and another good sale was expected. The developers didn't disappoint, 50% off the whole garage! The sales were announced about 3 days in advance and let me say one thing, they were the longest 3 days of my life.  :lol: Soon enough, the day came and I purchased M3 Ricochet, M3 Firebird and M3 Titan. I was now suited for all situations. Now another important factor happened, Gold Box catching. Titan was a beast for it back in the day. Considering I mainly played Polygon DM's and Silence CTF's I started bringing in the crystals from them. The power pushed any tank with ease and the HP made it difficult to destroy, I became a force to be reckoned with. 

 

It wasn't long before I ranked to Generalissimo. You can see my nubby attempt at a rank-up party below.

 

 

A grand moment in my career that happened nearly 3 years ago

 

And for the last time here you will hear me say "A 50% discount arrived just in time shortly after I ranked, now I can buy..." It was my beloved Dictator. The hull I had always wanted to buy M3, ever since the Rebalance all the way back in early 2013. It truly was an emotional moment. *Insert tear-dropping emoji* In a matter of weeks later, I bought Clay, then Zeus and finally Twins in a 70% sale, and Thunder - but I will end it here. *Thinks to self* Maybe I will write a Garage analysis next, I've always wanted to do that... Nah, this wall of text would have scared them off by now. 

 

 

That about does it! I could really dribble on about this forever but no one will want to read that.  :lol: I hope you enjoyed the read and possibly learned something new from the game. As you can probably tell by now the game has changed a lot in the short 6 years I have been here.

Another 2011 veteran :D (I joined in middle 2011, and yes, I'm still a Colonel - multing at its finest...)

 

14000 crystals... That is an astonishing amount... I remember being WO5 and struggling to save 3700 for railgun M3.

 

The reason I'm still only Colonel? After the Rebalance, I basically rage quit Tanki completely, taking about 4 years to get from WO5 to 3rd Lt. Did you play during the Euro 2012 celebrations with 200-500 crystal gold boxes?

That's so cool history and dreams achievements, wish i had the enough long time else to prove my future and dreams sadly the game won't be as fun as it used to be in past... although i had old history since the middle of 2012 but i remember nothing regarding this wish i could be eSprots veteran one day and type my topic about achieving this in forums soon.. and i enjoyed your sense of humor and jokes too, good job. =)
