TTK's Thoughts on: Patch Update #451

Welcome, fellow tankers, to the series where I give my (totally unbiased, of course) opinion that nobody asked for, and where you get to listen. Today I'll be talking about the update that got a lot of people salty, including myself. I'm going to give my opinion on Patch Update #451. But more specifically, on the changes to Daily Missions.

In case you were unaware, this recent update brought a lot of seemingly minor changes to the game. It affected Micro-Upgrades, rank brackets, bugs for Magnum, and Critical Errors. I'll start off with the most boring changes, which I deem to be the bugs for magnum, rank brackets and Critical Errors.

I hadn't noticed any bugs for Magnum, so I don't really care about this. And I still suck with it. I also care very little about wider rank brackets. Although I suppose some Legends and Generalissimos don't like having Majors in their precious XP/BP matches, I don't mind this change at all. Critical Errors are a bit more important. I hardly ever remember getting critical errors, but I've heard horror stories of people getting them while first in a high-fund battle. Now, this seems to be replaced by Tanki either needing you to restart, or it freezing completely for a few minutes for me. I also don't care about this.

I absolutely love the changes to Micro-Upgrades. It means that fewer steps are required to reach the next modification, along with seemingly less money. It also means each upgrade gives more of a change. The final upgrade for my M2 Viking was done with this system implemented, and I really liked it. This update also increased the price of Speed-Ups dramatically, seemingly by 300%. M3s now have 20 MU steps in order to make M4 equipment harder to achieve. Interestingly enough, M2 modules now have ten steps to complete, while M3 modules keep their 15.

And now, for the real reason I wrote this article: The changes to Daily Missions. This almost universally hated change meant that daily missions could not be earned or completed in PRO battles. I didn't realize how much this would affect me until I tried to quickly finish a "First in battle" mission in a PRO battle. I convinced another player to join and cap the flag, but quickly realized I couldn't complete it. I'm not saying I agree with the "worst update ever, this update ruined Tanki, money-grabbing developers, noob admin" crowd, but I think this update could have been done a little bit better. Oh, who am I kidding? I hate it too. I rely on PRO battles for several reasons. I need them to join trainings with my clanmembers; I need them to join battles without supplies so I can keep a positive k/d ratio; I need them for my Hill CTFs; and, I need them to quickly complete "collect boxes" and "first in battle" missions. As a condolence for our inconvenience, the developers have increased rewards by 10, then 20%.

The reason behind this is simple; to stop the "farming of daily missions". They said in the livestream that the "honest" players who didn't exploit the loophole in the daily missions system would just have to suffer. What I don't understand is why they don't just make it impossible for them to be farmed in tiny battles, or just remove them entirely. Think about it; If players can't just enter a small battle with their buddy and collect the drop boxes they need, or finish the one-kill battle quickly for the first place mission, the problem would be solved. But for some reason, they just don't want to do this.I mean, if a post about how someone dislikes the daily missions update gets double the likes that the topic has, you can sort of imagine there's a problem. That's right, @Maf's post actually got 78 likes, and the update got 36.

Seriously, there's an issue here. You tried to click on them, didn't you? gotcha.

Therefore, a question arises. What are we going to do about it? Well, if you have no problem using supplies constantly, you should be good to go. But for the rest of us, We have four options: either play in quick battles and be hammered by supply users, start using supplies more, only complete good missions, or shun missions entirely. I have chosen the fourth route. If I get supply missions, I will most likely ignore them. But if I see a Premium mission, a Gold Box mission, or a mission with a reward of over 1,000 crystals, I'll probably try to complete it. High rankers are less effected by this, as they can get more income from just playing in PRO battles. Of course, there are still Super Missions, which take thousands of kills to complete. Poor XP/BP players will take months to finish the Super Missions, even though they could have done them before the update.

In short, I think the daily missions update overshadows the good in the other smaller changes. I hope the developers see this article, and change their minds a bit about the change they've implemented. Until then, I'll have to keep grinding in Poly CPs and Hill CTFs for crystals.

Approved.

Edits:

-Removed random capital letters.

- Fixed typos.

- Few punctuation errors corrected.

A good, honest opinion. English and grammar are generally sound throughout - much improved. I did not know that the M2 Module steps were reduced, so I learned something today. Maybe saying that you don't care about any of the bugs/rank changes is a little blunt, because it matters to some people (and when you write an article, you should make sure that you're not going to offend/annoy your audience because of this).

Still, a nice read. Keep this series going!
