Welcome readers! As you all avid contest fans might already know, the results of the Time Capsule '16 contest were posted in the last issue. Well, me and a couple other Reporters decided to host it again, because why not? It was very interesting to read a year old stuff - it did cause a bit of nostalgia, didn't it?
__________________________________________________________________________________________

Introduction:

Your task in this contest is fairly simple - you need to put a message for the future readers of the Tanki Online Newspaper. In one year's time from now, the winning entries will be posted for everyone to read!

Aptly said, the main objective is to create a written message to the future readers of the Newspaper. Be creative! Mention the recent major community events. Include pictures, the community's dreams for the upcoming year, or even speculate on the future of Tanki Online, Tanki X and the Newspaper. There are no strict guidelines. The goal is to create a definitive message that will intrigue the 2018 readers of the Tanki Online Newspaper.

Rules:

As usual, here are the rules of the contest:

  • There is no minimum word limit, but due to the large variety of events that have happened and that could potentially happen in the future, I have increased the maximum word guideline to 3k words.
  • Your entry will not be disqualified if it passed 3k words, but it will definitely lower its chances of winning.
  • Plagiarism is unacceptable - doing so will automatically disqualify you from all future Newspaper contests.
  • Only one entry per entrant is allowed. If you post another entry, it will not be counted. However, if you want to edit your entry, you're free to do so until the deadline. After the deadline hits, any changes will be reverted/not count.
  • All entries should be sent in a PM to @Hexed. Any entries posted elsewhere will not count.

Prizes:

There can't be a contest without prizes, right? Thus, the winners of this contest will receive the following prizes:

1st Place - 35000 Crystal.png
2nd Place - 20000 Crystal.png
3rd Place - 10000 Crystal.png
Consolation - 5000 Crystal.png

Entries will be judged on the following:

  • Creativity - how creative and intriguing the message will seem to the future readers.
  • Grammar - how many mistakes or errors will the message have.

Example:

To serve an example, here's something I wrote:

Time Capsule '17 Entry:

Okay, just a bit of a foreword: most of you will probably be laughing your chairs off the entire time you read this, but hey! My original name was DestroyerPdox - the time at which I was an avid Tanki Online player just like any other; you know, the usual XP/BP, parkour, micro-upgrading and test drives (when they were actually a thing lol).

At the time of writing, I am known by the name of Hexed - quite an unusual name, right? By the way, girls actually dig it. I am a Newspaper Reporter, a Wiki Editor, a member of the Anti-Ostrica Protesting Campaign and an occasional Tanki player.

It's the 8th of June, and well, I have reached the point in the entry where I should be getting forward with what was happened recently in the game - what major changes occurred, what type of celebrations happened and generally what kind of stuff the community underwent. Therefore, let's start with the most recent celebrations: Tanki Bday '17.

Tanki's 8th birthday was actually fun. There were x2 Gold Boxes, a free reward (2922 crystals, eight of each supplies except Gold Boxes and a free day of Premium time) which was actually symbolic to the days and years Tanki has been alive. There were a whole lot of other things, including a special paint available in the Garage, two special offers (one of them actually included another paint, Retina), special gifts and missions and of course, the usual festive vibe within the game.

If we actually move a bit more back into the history, the most epic celebrations were the May Holidays, Iron Days, April Fools Day, Cosmonautics Day, Women's Day, Valentine's Day and a whole series of occasional weekend sales in the game. The whole lot of these included special paints, sales and discounts, themed items and many other goodies.

Now, here are some of the "major" minor things that happened recently:

  • The European servers (EN, DE, PL and RU) were merged together to create multiple EU servers.
  • The new Communicator panel saw it's release in April, a system that completely changed how the lobby worked.
  • Two new turrets, Magnum and Striker were released.
  • Cedric, leader of us penguins, hosted a couple of livestreams, asking some hot questions.
  • Tanki Online launched on a popular gaming host, Steam.
  • The most sought-after feature, the in-game clan along with the Clan License was released.
  • Lots of server restarts, balance changes, new waves of alterations and downtimes also happened.
  • Clan "I Don't Know [iDK]" won the Lords of the Points [Economy Category] tournament and brought home the prestigious Acid paint.

Now that we've gone over the what-happened-in-that-past section of the article, let's move over to the future. In this section, I'll basically talk about what the community is trying to achieve in the future, some of the developer's development plans for the game and a couple other things, so read on!

One of the most significant changes Tanki is currently working on is upgrading the game from Flash technology to HTML 5. Once they complete this step, the developers are planning to integrate a matchmaking system in Tanki. It basically works by creating perfect battles and then redirecting people into them by taking into account their in-game profile - their rank, experience etc.

One of the many other changes the developers are planning are to combine XT equipment with their normal counterparts. No one knows how will the feature work, but speculations give three possible outcomes:

  • XTs can be bought for 500 000 crystals after you've M3'd an item.
  • XTs can be bought free free once you've M4d an item.
  • XTs would be given to you once you reach a specific experience base with an item.

Of course, all of those are just speculations and again, no one knows what are they actually planning to do.

Here are some other minor changes the developers are thinking about implementing in the game:

  • Saving player's progress when leaving a battle.
  • Notifications about completed micro-upgrades.
  • Improved CP mode.
  • Pop-up tips in user interface.

Okay then, now let's see what the community as a whole is trying to achieve in the upcoming year. First off, the obvious gain-more-players campaign saw its start with the release of Tanki on Steam. Fun fact: Tanki X also followed suit and was released on Steam a little after Tanki was. All of the community, the developers and the managers of the project are trying to increase the game's playerbase, something that is not easy to do at all. The community is also trying to bring back eSports, especially in the EN community. Events, tournaments and special celebrations are due to remain active and hopefully improve over the next year.

As for the Newspaper, I think that the original theme and setting of it will stand firmly - you know, the usual contests, articles, guides and so on.

And now, prediction time! For the upcoming year, I predict the following:

  • There will be a new rank, or a set of new ranks.
  • Possibly new turrets and hulls - a hover hull is already being planned!
  • There will probably be a new community.
  • And lastly, who knows, Semyon might make an appearance.

= END =

Word Count: X

Deadline: 28th July, 2017

Get working tankers - may the best message win! Good luck!

xD

I might actually go for this, not because I fancy myself as a writer (I don't!) but because I want to leave something for Tanki and all my tanker friends

Do anything you want, but make sure it revolves around the key idea.

shouldn't the prizes be substantially increased, I mean 1 yr we gotta wait...

The prizes are the same as they were one year ago, when the contest was originally initiated. The prizes will be distributed on Sep 1st, but the entries will be reveled next year.

What is the goal of this contest

Can I send it today, please?  ^_^

Btw, can I write it from the point of view of a future tanker? I mean,

August 01, 2018.

Tanki Online

Hello everyone, I am from the future. From 2018. And, I am here to give you some 'secret' leaks about what had happened for us and which is going to happen for you. Bla Bla........

Hmm, I read the introduction once again, and it says, "A message for the future readers". Can you elaborate it more, please?

Sorry if I'm troubling you... Ty

You need to write a message for the future people who will play Tanki and read the Newspaper - and you can't write "from the future".
