Story Of My [Tanki] Life

Early October of 2014, my Sophomore year of High school, the whole school district received personal Chromebooks for students, something I was looking forward to. No more textbooks, no aching wrists from writing notes and the fact you can take them home to "do homework." No...at home, I'd either listen to music, watch Minecraft on YT or I'd be surfing Kongregate for cool games. Small games that only took up to an hour to beat or just online games with other real players.

One night, I had gotten bored of doing my math homework, which there was always a lot of. A nice packet that would have to be finished in a week. Sadly that teacher hadn't gotten on the Chromebook train. Anyway, I headed over to Kongregate and did some searching. When I came across Tanki Online, I just had a hunch it was a good game, so I clicked it.

Thus, my Tanki Online career as a non-turret-turning-mult had begun.

I remember Twins and Thunder were my favorite turrets, and Wasp was my favorite hull for its speed. I caught on a heck of a lot quicker than the other players because I actually used the controls presented on the screen. The first battle I played was on Boombox, which at the time, seemed like a HUGE map and I fell in love with it. With my lack of skill, doing what I could with my Wasp which, at the time, only had 60 hp. I hated the Railguns always one shotting me.

Back then, I knew nothing of the game, thinking buying exp would help me and making micro upgrades was worth it. In those days, you had to upgrade an items stats individually and to M1 an M0 Wasp costed at least three times the actual modification. "Beginner's Pass" didn't exist then, either. I realized I was weak compared to the players who were slowly converting to M1s, my Wasp/Twins M0 combination becoming useless and thus...I quit Tanki.

The following year, Junior year, I switched to a different school, made some friends, and it happened to be quite a number of said friends were big on Tanki Online and they practically begged until they were blue in the face for me to start playing again. So, I did and I named it @Derpman171998. Only problem was the fact I forgot my log-in info, so I had to start over. This time, I decided I wasn't touching Wasp OR Twins. This time, I got the Commando kit and Universal Soldier kit. I played with all kinds of combos with those items and Hornet/ Ricochet became my new fav.

This time around, Brest was my favorite map, blasting noobs from out of sight and killing the Shafts up in the enemy base. I had a blast. This time, I bought only the 1/50 MU, since the MU were all together in ONE purchase and FAR cheaper, but still a ton more expensive than the next modification. As I went, I got quite a few M1s, those being M1 Hornet, M1 Ricochet, M1 Firebird, M1 Mammoth, M1 Shaft, M1 Smoky, M1 viking and M1 Isida. All cheap ones. Isida, for its self heal, easily replaced my Ricochet, then Shaft replaced that.

This time, I over spent. My M1s still did me good - Shaft for sniping with high damage, Isida for the self-heal and Mammoth when things got tough. I had a lot of fun on this account, but I hardly played with my friends, since they were hardly on. I played on this account for about three months, getting as high as 3rd Lieutenant.

Then, one day, in a DM match in Stadium, there was a real cool player...I forget his name, but he offered me an account named . The rank really impressed me, being so high. He said he'd trade accounts with me and so, I gave him the password to my account, like a fool. I had lost everything...but I still had an urge to play Tanki. So, again, I started over.

This time, I made the name @LoganFranlkin171998. I spelled my last name wrong on purpose, so if anybody wanted my account, they'd try to spell it the way it's supposed to be, thus making it hack proof.

I played a LOT on this account, having learned quite a bit. I found Shaft to be the best way to get anywhere without needing to spend too much. This time, I got only a couple M1s, those being; M1 Viking, M1 shaft and M1 Firebird. Reason is, I knew Viking was fast, had good health and was great in all areas in battle as Defender or Attacker. I didn't know what mid-fielding was then.

With this account I was working on the MU on my Viking and Shaft, getting the Viking up to 20/50 and the Shaft 24/50. Not only that, I had gotten the Lead paint and upgraded that fully. With that said, I kept to maps good for sniping, like Monte Carlo, Brest and Highways. Monte Carlo was my favorite. I rarely got less than a 5.00 K/D. The best I did was 62 - 0, no supplies used. Although, there was an Isida on the team who'd come by now and again to fill my health.

Back in those days I was the best around in my rank with Shaft. I remember taking out teams of Mammoth Shafts on my own, being half way to M2 with heavy Shaft protection. I was proud of myself. But, then ranking came slower and slower and my patience ran out. Camping and picking off players got real boring.

If you guess I started over AGAIN, you'd be right!

Foolish me stuck with Shaft Titan in my senior year. @NoobTanker18 didn't last long.

Early October I started over YET AGAIN. by now I had gotten used to it and didn't even look back. This time, I made an account, one that I felt gained quite a rep and you might know it:

    @Epic_Space_Mango18

Anybody want an autograph???

This time I had great knowledge of the game. The best way to earn crystals, the best combos, tactics and maps for such combos. Still before the first rebalance, Smoky M1 and Viking M1 were the way to go in Tanki. I had a killer K/D which got as high as 21.3! But then it dropped as I began facing M2s, but I knew it was for the best to NOT MU and save up. Afterall, Captain was a long ways away to get Northerner.

By the time I got to WO5, my eyes caught sight of...Voltage...damn that Electra paint was sexy. I stopped spending crystals entirely, no drugs MU, hulls or turrets. By 3rd Lieutenant I had saved up for it! This was possibly the greatest peak of my Tanki career up to date. I had finally gotten a full M2 tank and NOTHING was going to stop me! The double damages were addictive, the high armor made me feel like @Godmode_ON!

With this kit I ranked up faster than ever before! Quickly I had made up the amount I spent to get Voltage and I kept on saving. Going on into Christmas, the assault mode on the holiday map brought in mad crystals if you were on red team. As I reached Captain, I had saved up to 177k crystals. I could get ANYHING and more! at 40% off I got an M2 Hornet, 50% off I got M2 Hammer and 50% and 70% I jumped it all the way up to 24/50 and got the M2 alteration, giving me two more shots in my drum. I mean, throwing double armor on my Dictator and Hammer with this alt can still take me out in one clip.

Although, Hammer, in my opinion, with this alt, isn't a good match with my M2 hulls.

No biggie. I got Northerner 60k off during Valentines!

"Don't spend ANY crystals!" I was told.

I spent a good 300,000 and still got it!

So, now on Mango, I was getting it good. 8 M2s, three turrets, three hulls and two modules! Tanki would soon know my name and my power, that I was right up the buyer's butts as a free player. Each day was nothing but triumph as I'd increase my XP/BP skills and in free-format. I got to Brigadier when...you guessed it...

    I started over.

    Why?

Again, I spent too much and I don't feel I can get enough for even a Paladin kit from where I stood.

So, I made another account: @ESM_Unbeatable18. This one didn't last long. After all the rebalances, Smoky viking wasn't the same before the rebalance.

And I began a new. Heck I got so good at it, I'm prepared to need to start over again if I have to.

But, I feel I got it the best this time. I got to 3rd Lieutenant on this account before my Beginner's pass ended. By WO5 I had 144k crystals saved up.

    How?

Well, I kept my M0s until I could get Stinger, which I could have had at WO4, but wasn't in the garage at the time. Also, remember the May Day celebrations? 1.25x funds for two days, 1.5x, then 1.75, then 2.00x fund for two days...yeah that gave me a huge boost being dumped on top of my Beginner pass. Even if I was in a losing battle, I'd get more than if I won without the fund increase!

So, of all the OP kits in Tanki Online, I settled for Stinger kit. The reason is simple. It's fast, agile and it has Isida! Even though it's lost its self-heal, it'd gotten a big damage buff - I bet if you stuck a Paladin in front of me, with the same amount of protection against my Isida as I'd have against his Smoky, bumper to bumper, I'd still be standing.

Then again, my Hornet is 8/10! Going to be 9/10 by next week!

And you know what? I haven't spent a PENNY on this account. I got my Stinger, now I'm borderline M3 on my Hornet. I only did a couple MU's on my Isida. The Isida's damage buff serves as the biggest reason I got it. Don't need to MU a turret that can already take on M3s AND heal team mates. The first two days I had Stinger, I earned 20,000 experience! I was so amazed I got a HEADACHE! It was 1:21am, anyway. My brain was begging for sleep.

Now I find myself here today. During my time in Tanki, I've made and lost friends, and...a couple enemies. I've been in Tanki Masters before it closed, I was in Complete Control, Happy Dragons twice and I tried and failed to run my own clan named Rise Of Forgotten Legends [ROFL].

Through my career, one player has stood by me, a player I'm glad to call my friend. A player some of you may know and despise.

Thank you, @Deadwords, for all the great times :)

My plans for now...to get an M2 Railgun, finish the MU on my Hornet, then save up for a decent M3 kit. I've got a few on my mind, but my first pick would be Jack Hammer. From there...I'm just gonna have fun and lots of it :)

The one important lesson I learnt from this article is... drum roll...

I should probably start over...

Good work writing all of that! Definitely was worth your time (and mine, too)  :D

Everyone had to start over few times.

Sliced, don't start over again pls.

I already have a nickname in mind if I have to. Well, two, actually.

Besides, the only real change is the look of your tank as you move to the next modification.

And the fact that there are less mults and nugs as you go farther up the ranks

Nice amount of the hours spent on the Railgun.

You shouldn't have bought Railgun M2, better save for M3 as you already have accounts on which you can play XP/BP with M2.

No, it's a good thing I got it - I can do so much more with it, plus I more than paid it off just the rank of Captain. bought it at the start, ended with 101,340 crystals as I ranked to Major :D

Master of the Taiga (Yes im a copycat) is cheap, anyway.

Well, you made the right call in skipping m1 hornet and m1 rail and m1 isida and going straight for those their m2 versions.

I'd like to comment on this. I have over 150k crystals, am reasonably far from ranking to Major, and I have got as many M2s as you. This account is my first, starred approx. 2012, and I have played much less time, overall, than you have. Somehow, I think I have gotten a better value for time and work than you, seeing as I have done this the hard-working, buy-as-you-go way.
