Ability to buy any modification within rank

Recommended Posts

Many a times when we often try to buy a turret or a hull we can buy the next level modification such m1 m2 or m3. But however people with high rank and low crystals are not able to buy some turrets' lower modification because of their rank. For example, when a new weapon releases, in order to try the weapon, we HAVE to buy the highest modification possible. In my case it would always be m1 or m2. So I can't buy m0. There must be a feature so that I can m0 so that I need not waste crystals.

Declined

This restriction was purposefully added to prevent players wasting their crystals on useless equipment and thus putting themselves in a difficult position with their crystals. For example, you want to buy Firebird, but only have enough crystals for M1. You decide to buy M1, but it's useless and weak in battles where everyone else is using M2s, yet you just wasted over 7000 crystals for no reason. This restriction is meant to prevent that kind of situation.

At least let us buy M0 turrets because otherwise I would not know how to really test it. I like the update that you just buy straight to M3 because you save crystals but what about those other times when we had to buy M0-M3

If you really want to, you can make a new account. Although I can't help but agree that it seems like developers did this not just to allow players to save crystals, but also to force them to spend more when they want to test an item.

When I bought Magnum, I bought it without sales but tbh why should I waste my time making a new account and earn crystals just to test that weapon. I don't use test servers anymore because no one really uses it for testing and it just lags.

Well, you either spend more crystals, or invest more time. That's how it works with most things in this game (and in many other places) ;)

I know this has come around before, but I'd like to revisit it.  That once a level of equipment is unlocked, the immediately preceeding  level of equipment should remain available for purchase still.  In the past its been argued that effect of the equipment is not sufficient to warrant it remaining available.  However, in light of protection modules, I'd have to disagree.  There are numerous varieties of configurations available in modules in particular, and I have a lot of trouble trying to afford new modules, at 250k, I've managed to buy exactly 1.  To put this in perspective, if I want protection from fire, or twins, I'm still using marine and swamp protections.  So if I could still buy M2 equipment it'd be a definite improvement over nothing or m0 level equipment.

Same goes for weapons.  Although I've probably paid more attention to weapons, and purchased the ones I use the most, there are a lot of spaces in the garage, where I would not buy M3 because in normal play it is pointless to me, I can't use it well, or it just doesn't suit my style.  At times however it would still be handy to be able to have backup weapons of different types that might be a bit underpowered, but give you a better chance of finding something the enemy doesn't have protection from.

It's not like these sales are going to replace m3 sales, in fact in the end, I believe it could well be argued that over all sales would still improve, given the chance to sell the same thing twice, rather than just the higher level equipment.  Some of the higher end kits would still be nice at this kind of rank too.  I never managed to buy one kit along the way to where I am now.  They were always just out of reach.  First time I'd actually have the crystola on hand for one, they'd gone away permanently.

Aunty.

You have good arguments, but unfortunately developers made it very clear on numerous occasions that they plan to keep this restriction as it is now. After all, it does stop newbies wasting crystals on weak equipment and it also forces players to buy crystals in order to get equipment for their level, so why would devs want to remove that?

Not sure you're really removing it, after all, if you want level appropriate equipment, you'll still have to buy it somehow, if you're buying to many lower grade weapons you'll never get there.  Its not a solution to more power, its a solution for filling a gap....   Perhaps some of those newbies need a steeping learning curve :)  Something over nothing is an improvement, even if its not the best available...    anyway, still worth airing out occasionally..
