Battles in the Pro section are created by the players. So it is easy to see which Pro Battle maps are the most popular.

But Basic Battle maps are chosen at random by the system. You have to chose from the maps currently in play. So which ones do you seeks out? Which ones do you avoid?

And what else do you have to say about this stuff? Comment away.

[i hope I did not miss any. --- I did, Forest,,,out of order added at the end.]

I really don't mind which map is selected. It depends on the mood, I guess. I don't like not being able to select the map, but at the same time there aren't really any maps on which I would completely hate playing.

I am a personal fan of Parma, Rio, Serpuhov, Kungur, Iran, Highland and Desert. A good, balanced Iran CTF is one of the best experiences in Tanki. Too bad that rarely happens.

Not many hated maps, only maps I really despise are Lost Temple, Highways, Esplanade and Gravity

I only play non pro battles for missions anyway, so Ill chose the battle that suits my mission the most - for drops ill go somewhere like kungur, for finish 1st ill go Highland or Desert (easy for twins), for Dm experience/crystals ill go to Polygon and so on.

"Hate" is a strong word. I really just mean, which maps do you try to avoid.

Like Maf I will play on most of these maps if that is where the game I need is (with the exception of Lost Temple CTF). But there are many I prefer to avoid if I can.

Sometimes I try a map like Highways or Lost Temple. After about 90 seconds of being repeatedly pummelled by drugging shafts and magnums from goodness only knows where, I give up and leave.

I have had good experiences on some maps, but I wouldn't really say any are a consistent "favourite"...

Aleksandrovsk, Barda, Deathtrack, Desert, Molotov and Osa are my favorites - not many camping spots, few ramps, no self-destruct zone, relatively open. I avoid playing Brest, Lost Temple, Highways, Highland, Silence, Noise, Gravity, Serpuhov, Parma, Massacre and Rio due to snipers/campers/self-destruct zone. Where's Red Alert, has it been removed from the game?

Missed Red Alert and Silence.  Rats on me, thank you to you..  A-editing I go.

We have a lot of overlap in the like/dislikes list.  I like Parma but that is with Wasp/Vulcan or Striker. I tend to avoid it with my other combos.

Massacre is by far my favorite map. Yes it is wide open for snipers. But if you hug the terrain you can avoid a lot of their threat. The uneven terrain makes aiming and shooting on the move challenging.

I used to really like Highland but now Magnum has really reduced the fun on that map.

I have to admit that the main reason why I don't play Massacre is because the uneven terrain makes aiming too difficult. I figured it's easier to ignore the map than trying to learn to play it but I realized I'm missing out on a fun experience.  I'll try it again in the future but I don't think my Smoky will perform well there.

I know how that feels, sometimes I'm forced out of Aleksandrovsk by those damn Magnums, a group of them will camp on the elevated section  (beside the bridge) and they just sit there blasting the spawn points, it's hopeless...

I forgot to mention Polygon (especially CP pro battle) I detest it. Too many ramps, we spawn near enemies, little room to maneuver and the ditch in the middle is like a black hole, once you get in you can't escape. it's good for farming crystals in pro mode though...

Wow we share many map opinions. :)

My main weapon is Smoky and it is OUTstanding on Massacre.  When I was learning it was the first map I felt gave me the old "home field advantage".  that was even before I moved to assault ammo.  With big impact and uneven terrain enemies often just miss you completely. Every game and team is dfiferent of course. But quite often I mange to get to the enemy rear (Viking) and then it is feeding time on Shafts and Magnums. With Titan I often operate near that central mount with the billboard laying waste to tanks comin' 'round the mountain when they come (they go 'boom').

I'm farming most of my exp in Wave CTFs right now, but yeah, basic maps are getting boring. Monte Carlo would be a good edition :)

Highways is mainly a Shaft-Railgun map but Lost Temple not so much IMO.

As you know I used to play hornet-freeze and Lost Temple was my favorite map of all time.  The opportunities for strategy and teamwork are essentially unlimited.

the only heavy hull you have is m1 so...assuming your m3 shaft protection isn't MUed alot, unless you drugged yourself shafts with heavy capacitors don't have to drug to pummel you.

highways is too easy to play with shaft. the only reason i play a lot there is to stop other shafts from abusing it.

If i notice some shaft playing there every day i make sure i join on the other team and smash him.

Its 38%. And that's the reason I don't like those maps

Myself being a Smokey and Hunter combo player I try to avoid the big maps where my gun isn't effective at long ranges where I have to dash across the map and avoid being hammered by all sorts of long range guns and artillery so, i like to stick to medium and close range maps where my combo is more effective, but Dusseldorf being a huge map i enjoy playing with my combo being that it is street fighting and there are a lot of places where you can set up ambushes, I just have to avoid the long corridors where long range weapons could be waiting.

Not many responses so far I guess. But still I am a bit surprised to see my least favorite maps seem are leading the poll. They are on my list because they tend to be the shaft campgrounds.

Forgot about Lost Temple... now it's Magnum-heavy.  No place to shelter.  And if you need to cap flags for missions - forget about it. Many battles finish 1-0. As soon as a team scores they switch to half isidas and just plant mines - dozens and dozens of them.  One of easiest maps to prevent caps on.

I have always played a lot of Chernobyl maps until they introduced Magnum.

Lost Temple and Highways have the least interesting gameplay and I rarely visit hem.

Iran remains to be my all time favorite.

I miss having Opposition around in the battle list, that used to be a very popular map with nice gameplay.

OK this might be a bit of a rant but lets see.

Over the years I'll admit I've spent a bit of money on tanki - when I first joined I was really quite terrible in my view looking back. Eventually I bought premium for what it gave, the protection from all turrets at 15 or 20% helped my noob skills elevate. Over the years, I've dropped the odd 10-20 bucks for special deals or 1-2 months premium. Always buy with the best deals I see. Buying in a game really isn't as bad as what the tank community makes it seem. For a comparison I spend about 60 bucks a year watching movies in theatres. If that is about 6 movies = at best 18 hrs of my time. In a month I'll play maybe 30-60 hrs of tanki? an hr a day, I can sometimes finish all battles in 1 15 min game. I just do missions at this point. Anyways, I've finally afforded a few different turrets, a couple hulls

So to the question of MAPS.

For me, at this time, its all directly correlated with missions / enjoyment / combo I choose. If I'm going for drop boxes, the larger maps I would vote down here like highways, instantly grab my attention for quick missions. When you get a mission that says collect 10 speed boosts, if you go to any other map than highways pls rethink your life. (I'm just kidding, you can naturally collect boxes anywhere, but highways you can finish a mission like pick up boxes other than repair kits in like the first 30 seconds of any new game. Now for missions where its gain xp specific. Capturing point I think there are some maps that are best suited for easily capturing points.

Then it's just the enjoyment and combos. I'm finding that almost any mid to long range turret is great with titan. Every turret works well with viking, but I like my isida viking combo. Gets me xp in teams battles easily, in DM i can turn it into a beast of a machine.

With the addition of new turrets in my garage like rico and thunder, I'm actually replaying all maps just with these turrets, and trying to find all of what they can do. Rico in my view is one of the most skill intensive turrets in the game. I'd almost want to add magnum into this, I'm sure I'd be almost incapable of using the turret, but despite difficulty with aiming and knowing the percentage and ranges, because of its wide blast radius sometimes even when you suck at throwing shots, you will easily do well with a magnum when you stay hidden.

But let's get down to the pure facts of my map selection. The new addition (in my mind they are new?) of bobruisk and bridges are just splendid. The terrain is interesting, it allows for all kinds of turrets and gameplay is interesting across the board of ctf, cp t dm dm i mean these maps with my combos of rico, twins, isida, vulcan, thunder, just all of them. You can't not have fun. Those are my new favourites. Kungur is just such a well established solid map I think it should be in everyones top picks. CTF cp t dm dm its all there. Molotov, barda, red alert I also enjoy for their length. It's got a good depth in those maps, but cross length ways, some really interesting passages. and lines of sight. I think in my mind thats the other batch of new maps that really impress me. Kolhoz I abhor with its length and seeming sniper advantage. But those maps that enable the small hulls and short range turrets to play with the big boys is a big joy.

Silence is a dream in my view for many turrets above magnum. You give any long range turret a seat camping on high ground on opponents and they will get a bunch of kills. Lots of runways and hiding spots.

I;d ask what maps rico is super good on, I'm finding angles everywhere I just had no Idea existed. Everyonce in a while, I'll start to think I might actually be ok in the future with it, cornering an opponent so he is hopelessly ill equipped to offer resistance to me. My shots bounce bounce bounce tip they track him down. Thunder is also a very intuitive gun that some maps like alex and barda.red alert really bring alive. So one thing I found out with thunder, is I can aim at the top of a building, and it will hit the guys down below. I just never realized that sort of game play existed. So now every high ground spot that can hit a tall building can hit the ones underneath. Admittedly it is a small percentage of overall damage. Likesometimes doing 2-300 damage. But still. When guys are trying to hide, bang bang give me time and you are dead. When on the bridge in alex, with the repair kit on it, and a guy is by those blue buildings behind where the armour box is and he tries to hide in there, you can just light him up with splash damage. It's so fun.

Bad maps are ones again that are too big and give snipers too much power. esplanade i think has the variety needed to make things work. But highways ugh. And I hate brest, and chernobyl. I think if brest was given some underground tunnels that would bring that map alive.

There are also many old maps I would love to see brought back witht the current game style. But they are gone only to pro battles. Sigh.

Silence is still viable in a decent number of games thanks to the tunnel system. But I always go into that map expecting to see many of those stupid magnums.

Lost Temple is horrible for CTF, simply horrible. For CP or TDM I'll play it if I have to complete a mission and nothing else is available. Otherwise fuhgeddabouddit.

OTOH I find Bridges to be one of the most fun maps. Smoky on the central mount can wreak havoc on the foe.
