Old Man Logan: Broken

 Share

Recommended Posts

Sleep eluded Logan. This particular night, his fight with Punisher simply didn’t leave his mind. He was not particularly eager to go back to his life of hacking apart people. He much preferred hacking apart roast chicken now. Something about all his years of fighting had started to take a toll on him.

“Get up Logan, we’re here.”

“Where exactly is “here” Anderson?”

“You know, our secret base. We’re also bringing in the others, but while we do, we’re gonna try to amplify your healing factor. You see, we have some blood from Deadpool. Using that, we synthesized a special serum which can accelerate your healing factor.” As Anderson finished his sentence, the helicopter gently touched down on what looked like grass. Anderson’s voice was replaced with the roaring engines of the helicopter as the door of the helicopter opened and Logan and Anderson stepped into the warmth of the sun.

“Please follow Mr. James, Logan. He’ll take you to the lab and inject you with the accelerator. Also, we prepared three doses of berserker rage for you. I won’t bore you with the details, but they’re for emergencies only, and within a few seconds of entering your bloodstream, they will forcefully send you to a rather violent berserker mode for a few minutes.”

“You said you wouldn’t bore me with all of the details, Anderson.”

“This way, Mr. Logan,” said a short and stout man. His blond hair glistened under the sun like a diamond. His eyes were as sharp as an eagle.

“Hello, James. Let’s go then.” Logan sighed. The two of them proceeded towards the lab. Along the way, Logan noticed lots of weapons casually decorating the walls. The base was massive, but the lab area was a very confined space with lots of different vials. James motioned Logan to lie down on a bed like structure and tied Logan to it.

“Just a little prick Mr. Logan. Nothing you’re not used to.”

“How much time till I’ll be able to tell the difference, James?”

“A few minutes at worst. Instantly at best.” James flicked the injection and pushed it gingerly into Logan’s arm. Within minutes, the signs of wear on Logan’s face were replaced with energy.

“Nice. I didn’t expect it to work, but I feel almost new now!”

“Yes. Let me see how well it works.” James walked towards his desk and pulled out a gun, and promptly emptied the ammo on Logan’s face. In a few minutes, Logan got up, claws extended, and almost slashed at James, but James managed to conjure the words “It was only a test! Please don’t kill me!” Logan slowly retracted his claws and sat on a chair.

“This serum really works.”

“Seeing as it healed you from taking 10 or so shots to the head,” James slowly got up, “I’d say so too.”

“I feel amazing.”

“Let’s go tell Anderson then, shall we Logan?” James brushed the dust off his clothes and the two walked to Anderson as though nothing had happened between them. The two of them walked to the main room and stopped briefly at the door.

“I just remembered, I forgot something. Go on Logan, I’ll catch up with you.”

“Where’re you going?”

“Just there.” James pointed to a dark corridor.

“Alright, I’ll see you there then.” Logan continued to walk towards the base. When he got there, a strange sight greeted him. Blood stained the hallways and corpses decorated the floors.

“What the hell happened here?!” Logan was not used to seeing corpses of people he didn’t kill. From the shadows emerged a figure. It was a tall humanoid figure, with a rather disfigured face, glasses on his eyes and two metal horns forcibly put on his head. The man gave Logan a disgruntled sigh and walked towards Logan, extending metal claws as he approached Logan.

“What are you?” No response. Who or whatever this was, it didn’t seem very friendly, nor did it seem to speak. As it got closer, Logan extended his claws, injected himself with the berserker serum and charged towards it. It seemed clear now that this was none other than weapon Twelve. The claws and the horns made it explicitly clear to Logan. The man yelled and ran towards Logan. Logan fell to the floor and slid under its legs, cutting the legs of his enemy on his way off.

“Ahhh!” the behemoth exclaimed as it almost fell to the floor. Even still, it got up in seconds as though Logan had never touched it.

“Why do governments always have to do something stupid?!” Logan yelled, exasperated. Logan punched it and moaned from the pain. Weapon twelve picked up Logan and threw him at a wall, breaking the wall in the process. Logan curled up in agony. He managed to lick his wounds and raise his claws just as weapon Twelve slashed at Logan. Logan felt a prick, and then nothing. His left hand’s claws were replaced with stubs.

“Alright, if you wanna do it that way, I can go!” Logan jumped on weapon Twelve, ripped out the stubs of his claws and jammed them into weapon Twelve’s face. Weapon Twelve reacted by punching Logan through another wall. Logan got up, and with his remaining claws, hacked weapon Twelve to unconsciousness.

“Anderson!” Logan yelled in pain. He had forgotten about his relationship with pain, but pain hadn’t forgotten Logan. He managed to get into a small box and then darkness took him.

Approved.

-Minor grammar corrections.

-Rephrasing.

Perhaps next time, you could simply refer to Weapon Twelve as "Twelve". Sounds much better and makes it a lot easier to work with while you're writing.
