Team captain mode for TDM battles

So the way this works is that each team will have a "Team Captain" and the objective is to kill the enemy team captain more times than the enemy team has killed yours. Credit goes to @sensei_tanker

 

Now, if the time runs out and both team captains have died the same number of times, then it will be a tie.

 

Now you're may be thinking "oh, all I have to do is find their team captain and kill them? Easy!" But, not so fast! :D

 

Each team captain will have the following boosts in their stats during that time:

- double the amount of their hulls health.

- double the amount of damage their turret deals.

- 50% increase in their hulls speed and turret rotation.

- 25% faster reload in their turret.

 

Add the fact that the team captains can also use supplies like any other player, and killing them will be easier said than done.

 

When a player kills their opposing team captain, the kill will add 3x as much crystals to the battle fund as it would if you kill just another player of the same rank.

 

A new team captain will be selected after each round, however I don't know to whether have it:

 

A. Select a Team captain based on their last battle performance.

 

OR

 

B. Randomize the selection.

 

I think I want you to decide how a new team captain will be selected at each round. :)

 

The team captain will start off with whatever they have equipped at the moment, but can can equipment whenever they choose just like any other player. Credit goes to @sensei_tanker

 

Only the team captain themselves will know if they are the "team captain", which means that there will be a need of communication and teamwork. Again, credit goes to @sensei_tanker

I feel like it's not that interesting to be its own game mode. Maybe as an option for PRO battles, but I doubt devs would make something like that specifically for PRO. Besides, there will soon be the Juggernaut mode, which is a somewhat similar concept, but more fun (imho), since it actually gives every player an opportunity to be the big buff tank.

 

Also, in order to have a better chance of winning the team captain would have to sit in the corner of their base for the whole game, and where's the fun in that?

Basically, it's a game mode where two players on each team is the VIP and the objective of the game is to destroy the enemy VIPs more times than your VIPs die. Everytime a VIP dies, a point goes to the opposing team. Winner is who has the most points in 10 minutes. 

 

The VIP is given 2x the normal health, but however 2x less damage. Isidas may or may not have reduced/no effects on friendly VIPs. VIPs can be of any turret/hull combo because some VIPs may need a quick hull to escape enemy attacks and be hard to shoot at while some VIPs may aim at the strategy of being a big tank, which is harder to kill but much easier to hit and much more difficult to hide. 

 

A possible feature of this game mode is that no one knows who are the VIPs. Only the VIPs know that they themselves are the VIPS. For example, if you are selected to be a VIP (which may be random or chosen by the highest scorers of the previous rounds), a sign says that you are a VIP at the beginning of the match, however, no one else except you can see it. Therefore, it takes teamwork and communication to identify who are the VIPs who need protecting. 

 

This game mode will feature all weapons because close combat turrets will do well at attacking people who are in their hiding spots, medium turrets are versatile, and camping guns can effectively snipe VIPs from the distance. Magnum will not be a huge problem because VIPs can hide where Magnums can't get them, which is probably what will happen. Only concern is for 9 isidas healing their own VIP, which I ask for reduced/no effects for Isida healing VIPs. 

 

I think this game mode will be pretty fun because it's sort of like Search & Destroy with live players while you have infinite lives. It's different from CTF or TDM because the objective is an object that can move and shoot back.

Interesting how you posted this almost identical idea just two days after the first version. I like your version better, it actually gives the captain/VIP player an option to move around and play, rather than hide in the corner to avoid death and instant defeat.

And if that was the way it was going to be, the debs could just have it be a tank sized, futuristic looking box, rather than a tank.

I think this is awesome, but I have my own version:

 

-The captain status is given the same way as you can throw a ball or a flag, so everybody knows who the 2 captains are.

-When game starts, random player will be given the "ball" or "hat" of captain. If he is destroyed, then it goes to the player with best score.

-Captains receive no "double hitpoints" or else by default. They are a normal player who must be careful. Otherwise giving a captain too much power would make them unkillable and have 0-0 games. Is just a player with no extra bonuses.

-Destroying the captian gives extra xp as capturing a flag would.

 

 

-Please give the captian a hat instead of a ball :p

-And the game mode name I'd rather put as: Find the Captain.

Lol? This is a joke right

No, this is serious, right now, there's no motivation to play TDM battles unless if it for missions. Other than that no one will play it because all you will really do is just kill the enemy team unless if you were an isida, and it's not interesting to play in. DM battles got the juggernaut feature to make it more interesting, so why not add team captain mode for TDM battles?
