TANKI is becoming unplayable again... GLITCHES
GRIMM_TERROR replied to GRIMM_TERROR in TANKI is becoming unplayable again... GLITCHES Archive
Is anyone else experiencing the following glitches? #1 Relative Frozen time issue Sometimes a game will be going along smoothly, then I realize time is frozen relative to me (yet if it is a timed game, the game clock still ticks down) What it looks like to me is I can move, shoot and drive around but everyone else is stuck in a "last move loop"... if the other tank was turning, they will go in a circle. If turret was turning, turret will spin. I can drive anyplace but I cannot pick up any crystals or boosts or flags or kill anyone. If I hit re-fresh (F5) the game will re-load/re-fresh and will be fine for a while. This is the #1 glitch that could make me stop playing the game for ever. It is really frustrating. I used to think it was my network connection, but now I am not so sure. Is anyone else seeing this one often? It happened to me twice in the last 20 minutes prior to writing this post. I have given up for the day. Some days, it never happens. Some days it happens a lot. #2 Long game loading time I used to have long game load time, but then it got ultra fast, now it is slow again. I clear my cache all the time. Nothing on my PC has changed. Same PC and browser. #3 The "Velcro Tank" issue. When you re-spawn (regenerate) too close to another tank, the two tanks combine and get stuck together. I have also seen this when you are trying to push another tank, either enemy or your own team. The tanks become bonded together. I understand the re-spawn, but not the pushing part. This is annoying. Pushing other tanks is a MAJOR tactic, and is not possible when they stick together. This may go hand in hand with the #4 issue... if 2 tanks are heading to occupy the same grid space, then there is some position update when the 2 tanks do occupy same space, then they bond. #4 Non-Fluid movement and repeat movement (Jerky movement) More and more often, I watch a tank drive forward or make some kind of driving move. Then, it disappears and repeats the exact same move from the same start point. Then, sometimes a tank will be moving in a straight line, and disappear for a second, then re-appear further down the same line of travel. This is super annoying when tracking an enemy in the Shaft Scope. Almost impossible to take a shot. It was really good when they sped up the FPS at first. It was very fluid. Now it is fluid in bursts. It think this was from some major code change. Anyway, if anyone else sees these glitches please post a concise comment. I play from the USA on a high quality high bandwidth DSL line. I am starting to wonder if there could be some GLOBAL band with issue due to the Olympic Games this summer? I read that they want to stream most events but some network specialists predicted that there is just not enough bandwidth in Europe to do this. If everyone in the world watched an Olympic event at the same time, the Internet would grind to a halt. Anyway, just a theory. Regards, GRIMM -
More testing done: P4 Dell running Chrome Stock graphics card high speed DSL Adaptive FPS set to ON 3-5 FPS Adaptive FPS set to ON makes it slower. Biggest speed increase is making the viewport smaller. Running it in full screen mode makes it VERY slow. This game is un-playable if FPS is below 10. Using same connection as the other PC which is faster. My conclusion so far is that the graphics card makes a very big effect on speed.

I hate RAIL guns, because when you get hit, they do a lot of damage and usually spin you around knocking you off target or off of some object or platform. Even if you don't die, you usually land upside down. Second, the FREEZE gun. If you manage to fly in and grab the flag, and there is a FREEZE gun there, you cannot get away! Both are very frustrating!

I am thinking that it is a combination of hardware/browser. BOX #1 - HP Pentium D with NVidia high end graphics card. Running Firefox - Good results, but Firefox is glitchy. Running IE8 - Control instability In either case, FPS is 10-18. This may be due to my ISP. BOX #2 Dell P4 with stock graphics card. Running Chrome - Good graphics, good control, slow FPS. This may have something to do with my graphics card. I have a bunch of different hardware laying around. I will try to optimize my set up and will post results.

Thanks. Installed Firefox and this did fix the control issue, however, Firefox 7.x is not very stable on XP. Also tried Chrome but it is too slow to play (3-4 FPS). I will try Chrome on a faster PC with a better GFX card. Thank you for the advice. GRIMM

AIMING AND CONTROL OF TANK GLITCH
GRIMM_TERROR replied to GRIMM_TERROR in AIMING AND CONTROL OF TANK GLITCH Archive
There is some kind of bug regarding the control of the tank. When using the arrow keys to steer the tank, sometimes a one tap of the key gives a fine movement of the tank. Sometimes that same tap will turn the tank 90 degrees at onece. Same with the turret controls. It makes driving a fast tank very difficult to control, and makes fine aiming (movement of the turret) for long range shooting nearly impossible. If you get lined up for a shot, and need to make a fine adjustment of the turret before shooting, the turret moves 90 degrees at once and you are now off target. Is this error built into the game on purpose? Can you explain this?
