Viking is the most versatile tier 2 hull in Tanki Online, suitable for all game modes (and especially CTF and TDM modes). Viking combines great performance characteristics with good stability, which makes it especially good under fire of enemy Twins and Ricochet guns. Want a tank hull good for close combat and having moderate speed? Viking is the obvious choice. Great performance characteristics combined with good handling and stability. There are basically two reasons not to buy Viking: you are a hard-headed caper (buy yourself a Hornet) or you are focused on playing Deathmatches (then Mammoth is maybe a better choice). Though if you're planning to focus on Deathmatches you better choose Mammoth. Choosing Viking for playing with Railgun will give you an opportunity to save crystals on this comparatively cheap and overpowered turret and upgrade your tank hull to M3, and then switch to tier 2 weapon. Though many tankers use it to mount Isida, it's not the best choice for using with Viking. Cos Isida requires maximum speed from your tank hull to catch up patients. Though there is an exception: if you're a drugger and you're playing against unskilled enemy team, then Viking + Isida combination will make you almost invincible. Viking is great for playing with any tier 2 weapon, be it Thunder, Freeze, Ricochet or Shaft. Pro: This tank hull has no significant drawbacks. Viking is the most balanced tank hull in Tanki Online. You can always buy a new turret without thinking whether it will suit your tank hull. Con: Versatility means that Viking is not always the best tank hull for attaining specific combat tasks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dictator occupies the place in between of tiers 1 and 2 hulls, which makes it the best tier 1 or the worst tier 2 hull of Tanki Online, depending on your point of view. All in all a high-end Dictator surpasses Wasp (and even its rival tier 2 hull Viking!) in its speed and equals Titan in its armor. Quickly upgrading Dictator to M3 you'll get a huge advantage! And loose a lump sum of crystals. When comparing Dictator to tier 1 hulls it becomes apparent that low-end modifications of Dictator are well underpowered, while high-end modifications are pretty expensive. Medium tank Dictator is almost 5 times more expensive than medium tank Hunter. Though when comparing Dictator to tier 2 hulls (especially vs. Viking) ist drawbacks are not so evident. So what's wrong with Dictator and why is it almost 3.5 times less expensive than Viking? Though its tech specifications are awesome and it looks like Dictator M3 has just 30 h.p. less armor than Viking M3, its less obvious drawbacks are: oversized dimentions (Dictator is much bigger and taller tank, which makes it an easy target); low stability under fire (especially when playing vs. Ricochet and Twins guns); offset to the back turret and hence long "hood". All the above results in overall poor handling, which means that sooner or later you'll end up in buying yourself a new tier 2 hull to play. So if you want to buy a decent tier 2 hull, why spending crystalls on Dictator? M0 M1 M2 M3 Price: 150 +500 +1500 +5000 Armor: 60 70 90 120 Speed: 5.0 5.5 6.5 8.0 Agility: 100 110 130 160 Mass: 1200 1200 1200 1200 Because Dictator lacks stability, the obvious choice is to use it with long range weapons and the ones that does not require aiming skill. Rail is maybe the best gun for using with Dictator. Of course it's a dead end, but buying and upgrading this low cost gun and hull you'll be able to buy expensive protective paint, or spend all your gain on consumables. Because Rail is meant for sniping, poor stability of Dictator is not really a problem. Just avoid close contact with enemy tanks. Though Thunder is a middle range gun, it's still good when using with Dictator hull. High speed and medium armor of Dictator combining with this awesome tier 2 gun makes it a very compatible combination. Just avoid close contact with enemy tanksm which is going to be much more difficult when playing with Thunder, than with Rail. Firebird and Freeze require no aiming skill, so Dictator's poor stability under fire is not a major problem. Which makes these combinations quite tolerable. Using Dictator with Twins or Ricochet is not advisible since its poor stability (and these weapons assume close combat and skirmishing). Using Dictator with Shaft is not advisible eather, cos this way revenging enemies will knock down your aim hence leaving you without a frag. Pro: Very cheap compared to tier 2 tank hulls. Second fastest hull in Tanki Online. With such a price you'll be able to upgrade it to M3 pretty soon and have an advantage. Con: Too expensive compared to tier 1 tank hulls. Very unstable under fire. Not sutiable for close combat fighting and skirmishing with high precision weapons. Though as opposed to all other tier 2 weapons it has no mass damage, Ricochet is still one of the most effective tank turrets for both DM and CTF modes. It inflicts massive damage to one target, easily steals frags from its rivals and it is perfect for fast killing both enemy tanks with any long range guns, and enemy Isidas and Freezes from safe distance. Ricochet also has two distinctive features: it has moderate recoil and huge physical effect on enemy tanks, and its charges bounce off obstacles. Combined with advanced homing system this gives Ricochet player a visible advantage. A perfect combination of massive damage and medium range. Ricochet is perfect for both DM and CTF modes. Medium range of fire helps Ricochet killing defending Freezes from safe distance and use ricochets for its own advantage in urban warfare. M0 M1 M2 M3 Price: 650 +2000 +6000 +18000 Swing speed: 1.3 1.45 1.7 2.1 Damage: 10-12 10-13 11-15 12-16 Shots per tank: 13 14 15 17 Recharge (sec): 10.52 10 9 8 Charges bounce off obstacles Firing range: under 60 m — 100%, after 80 m — 0% Ricochet requires high-stability tank hulls, which means that Dictators and Hornets are not the best choices. Viking is the best possible choice for designing an assault tank for CTF mode. Perfect for both capturing and delivering enemy flags, and for returning own flag. Of course Mammoth is not for attacking enemy base in CTF mode, but it is still good for Deathmatches. As for defending the base it looks like Thunder, Freeze and Shaft are better choices. Pro: Ricochet is versatile and obviously overpowered. The best tank gun for returning own flag. Ricochet effectively kills Isidas and Freezes from safe distance. Con: Aiming moving targets from a distance is tricky. You may run out of plasma at the most inappropriate moment. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Shaft is the best solution for snipers and campers on Tanki Online. It’s a two-pack gun: in scoped mode you can accumulate your charge and kill distant enemies with one perfect shot. In normal mode you can inflict comparatively small damage to enemy tanks, thus effectively stealing frags from your rivals or killing escaping enemy capers. Of course normal mode doesn't make a sniper gun rock in close range combat, but it really makes Shaft a hard target. Shaft is a perfect one-shot long-range killer. In Deathmatches Shaft is not only a perfect one-shot killer, but most importantly, a frag stealer. Hold down the firing button and looking at your target through the scope estimate the damage it takes. Than estimate the charge you need to accumulate to kill your target in one shot, and release the button. If your estimations are correct, you’ll get an easy frag. When playing DMs this makes Shaft hard to beat. The same thing with TDM – Shaft players naturally have high D/L ratio (which is important when playing TDMs). When playing CTF Shaft is used mostly for ruining enemy attacks and as a support gun for sniping down key enemy defenders. You don't really need a super fast or armored tank hull for mounting it. Such tank hulls as Dictator or Hornet are not really good for use with Shaft mostly because of their low stability. Which is needed when facing attacks from enemy Twins and Ricochet guns, which are famous for their strong physical effect. Low armor rating is another drawback of these tank hulls. Because of its high speed, good armor and high stability Viking permits quickly changing firing positions to support attacks on enemy flag and keeping enemy attackers at bay, thus making Viking almost perfect for playing with Shaft in CTF mode. Mammoth is maybe the best possible solution for playing Deathmatches with Shaft gun. Thick armor, high stability and aura of invulnerability makes Mammoth almost perfect for mounting Shaft. Pro: Shaft is the best solution for camping. Shaft permits killing enemies with a single shot. Best gun for stealing frags Con: If you're not a camper inside, Shaft is pure disappointment. What is better Freeze or Thunder?Well see after the battle! Freeze is a great gun for both DM and CTF modes. It inflicts massive damage from short distance and immobilizes enemy tanks, killing them in mere seconds. Moreover the same as its predecessor Firebird it inflicts mass damage to all tanks in the firing cone, which makes Freeze player a serial tank killer. Just choose groups of tanks standing close to each other, sneak up close and kill 'em all! Massive damage combined with freezing effect leaves enemies helpless till they die. When attacking an enemy tank try staying out of its line of fire. Immobilize the enemy tank and circle around it, rotating your turret after your target. Avoid frontal attacks, save your health points. M0 M1 M2 M3 Price: 550 +1700 +5000 +15000 Swing speed: 1.45 1.63 1.95 2.55 Damage per sec: 20 22 26 32 Consumption (sec): 8 8 8 8 Reload (sec): 20 18.86 12.5 10 Freezing rate (sec): 6 5 4 3 Firing range: under 15 m — 100%, over 20 m — 0% The faster your tank is the faster you'll reach the target and get your frag. Hornet is maybe the best choice for the player who wants Tanki Online to be played as fast as possible. It is also a perfect combination for a caper in CTF mode, cos Freese is a perfect weapon for freezing all enemy defenders at the flag and leaving the base in a blink of an eye. Want more protection? Like to play Deathmatches? Viking is an excellent choice for playing with Freeze. Its moderate speed permits catching up most of your foes. Like drug wars? Need a tank for taking gold boxes? Choose Mammoth and you wouldn't be disappointed. Moderate speed when under Nitro and the largest bonus from Double Armor and First Aid kits makes this combination perfect for both DM and CTF modes. Pro: Freeze is the best turret for defending the base in CTF because of massive damage and freezing ability. You don't really need to aim or control your camera much. Just point Freeze in right direction and hit the button. Effectively kills Isidas from safe distance Con: 20 meters of firing range isn't much, especially when using with Mammoth. Freeze has no recoil or physical effect on other tanks. You'll not be able to use recoil to jump from heights nor use Freeze to throw enemy tanks off course or flip them over ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thunder is the first tier 2 tank turret available in Tanki Online. Because all tier 2 turrets have approximately equal power, and Thunder is the least expensive of them all, it is a great choice for getting reasonably priced tank turret. Because of splash damage ability, to get the most out of Thunder you should focus on attacking groups of enemy tanks and stealing frags while keeping the distance. Thunder turret has one major feature - splash damage! In CTF Thunder is used mostly for fire support and for killing enemy capers from the distance. Being a caper with Thunder is not a good idea mostly because of self damage. Even low-end modifications of Thunder guns are awesome, though having insufficient experience with it you'll probably be disappointed with the performance of M0 and even M1 modifications. So a general advice will be taking Thunder M0 at first opportunity for everyday practice, and to continue using an M3 tier 1 gun for winning prize crystals in long battles. Thunder has the most realistic appearance and principle of operation among other tier 2 tank guns, so all of you guys who like "realism" in sci-fi arcades will definitely love it. So if you already have Dictator M3, than Thunder is a good choice. Though its drawbacks (Dictator has oversized dimensions and bad stability) sooner or later make you replace it with true tier 2 tank hull. Hornet is not the best choice to play with Thunder because it lacks armor and stability. Though playing Hornet + Thunder combination is fun. Especially if playing against unskilled players in CTF or TDM modes. Viking is maybe the best choice for playing in CTF and TDM modes, where you need maximum speed to respond to moving scenarios of team games. Mammoth + Thunder combination is maybe the best for playing Deathmatches. Mammoth also gets maximum bonus when using First Aid kits, Double Armor and Protective Paints, which makes it the best choice for drug wars. It is also a good combination for defending the base in CTF mode, effectively damaging enemy attackers on the way to your base and killing enemy capers from the distance. Pro: High damage combined with splash damage makes Thunder one of the best Tanki Online guns. Thunder is great for camping, damages from great distances with minimum penalty. It is the least expensive tier 2 gun. Con: Not suitable for capturing enemy flags on most Tanki Online maps.
