Viking is under no obligation to tell you his exact reasoning or method of choosing interviewees. He is allowed to choose his own interviewees as he is the reporter and it is his article series, although I am sure that he chooses the players who have an interesting background and would make a nice article for the newspaper. In addition, a contrasting line in RusyNail's final statement of the interview does not warrant the entire interview invalid or worthless. I quote from the start of the topic:

He had insufficient proof to attempt to disqualify an entry (you'd think if he could draw accurate bleed marks over an already printed design like that he would have to cheat with a tablet?) and then assume that an entry is an "intentional troll" Lighten up, mate

I'm from the uk too. If you have graduated from a uni you should have enough qualifications to apply for a full-time job, I have never seen anyone who then went on to do unpaid work

The more things you do the more impressive it is. Sure, volunteering there is nice, but colleges also like it if you do some work/voluntary service related to your course Also I do not know anyone who graduated and did voluntary work. Maybe you are referring to apprentices or interns? Apprentices get paid and interns usually do their unpaid work before graduating
