I’ve been playing this game for years now. I decided that I thought some of the newer players who either don’t know about the existence of the Tanki Online Wiki (great thing that… it really is super useful), or simply cannot be bothered to check it might like to learn something about this wonderful game of ours. A brief history of me playing: I started playing Tanki wayy back in 2011. My very first account (@Francis62619) was started on the 19th of November 2011, but the account itself was probably a few weeks before that. I did quite well on that account, eventually acquiring about 5 M3s by the rank of WO5, and then I was banned about halfway through 2012 because I was young and naïve, and believed the “this website will give you free crystals!” Trust me, that kind of thing is never worth it. It never works, it’s just a way for scammers to get free accounts… Always remember the saying “If it looks too good to be true, and seems too good to be true, then it probably is too good to be true.” I started my current account, Kaisdf in 2012, also “wayy back”, and slowly chugged through early ranks, getting the odd M2s and M3s. Also in 2012 was the Queen of Great Britain’s diamond jubilee, during which Tanki updated its logo: One more thing from 2012 was the Crystallizer competition: a forum competition where you had to post a screenshot of the highest battle fund you had ever received, and there were some truly astronomical entries: Then came some major, major updates. The graphics update (1.10), the rebalance (update 114), the crystal economy update (update 123, in which all crystals were multiplied by 10), and the addition of the CP game mode (also 1.10), ranks beyond Marshal, supply box drop zones, and the removal of the crystal box. The same place in Polygon, the parkour route to get there now non-existent, before and after the graphics update… (and yes, I did have twins M3, hornet M0 at WO3, and given the 57 kills, you can tell how good twins used to be. Especially considering M3 cost 500 crystals…) At the time, I recall, I was saving for railgun M3 (which cost an astronomical 3,700 crystals.) Other “pre-rebalance” trivia There were rumors of a red, 50 crystal Gold Box, and although there were pictures floating around the internet, I never saw proof. Gold boxes then were, in large part, luck based. There was no global announcement of one dropping, or a drop zone anywhere. In fact, I was once skyping a friend whilst playing, and I remember saying “Oh wow! Mate just drive straight backwards. Literally straight backwards, and there’s a gold” Silence I & II As well as this, Silence used to be one of the most popular maps, and there were 2 different versions of it, imaginatively named Silence I, and Silence II (and of course in 2013, there was the famous “Moon Silence” map, which was basically Silence I, but with low gravity. This was later removed due to hackers abusing the lack of gravity.) Moon Silence, a.k.a. Silence I - source: some random photo from google images Note the lack of wall on the far side of the blue base, as well as no platform in the right of red base, and no gallery on the very far side. Of course, the low gravity mode was not new at this point. It had already been in an option in the madness map for a while, and although fun, it was a pain because every time you dropped to get the flag, it took about 5 minutes to get to the bottom... Silence II Note that the wall goes all the way across, and you can see the very top of the tower on red side. My best moments Having played for ages, I have had some wonderful experiences in the game. My personal favorites were catching a 300 crystal gold box during the 3rd (?) round of Euro 2012 - very, very few people can say that… Another was a fantastic Silence I game with Viking and shaft M0. This was before the rebalance, when you needed WO4 to buy the shaft, and so I was pitched against lower ranking people who were all terrified as they had no idea what the shaft was, just that it was amazing. This was also before the shaft had a laser pointing where it was aiming, and so, several times in fact, I single-handedly held hordes of enemies (about 3 people) on the big ramp to the blue base. No one dared come up, even though half the time I wasn’t even scoped! That was a fantastic battle, first to 333 flags, and no time limit. Luckily for my team, less so for the opposition, a hacker joined and captured about 300 flags in 10 minutes. In the end, I received 984 crystals, which was a lot in those days. (2/3 of the cost of rail M2, so probably about 60k now.) My most recent moment of epicness was when I ranked up to 1st Lt. on Tanker’s day 2016. In one life, I ranked up, got a gold, and captured a flag, all in a normal battle. In the next life, I bought both rail and ricochet M2s, taking advantage of the very convenient 50% sale at the time. Conclusion I hope you have enjoyed reading this as much as I did writing it. I started it with the intention of teaching people, and ended with some serious nostalgia and a bit of emotion. I’m sure that a certain amount of this is on the Wiki, which I really recommend checking, (and not but I thought that it probably wouldn’t have such a personal feel. I hoped that, by writing this, people would be able to relate, connect to, and maybe even relive the “good old days” with me on my trip down memory lane.

Admittedly the last time I saw it, it was all in Russian and I joined a clan with a developer (not sayin how tho :ph34r:) As in suspended from chat, or the game...? Basically, it's common knowledge that clan WOW have a suspiciously similar application form to us, and now they have just created an identical leaderboard system to us... ​P-Shooter/gnat/anyone else, PM me if you are interested in buying the Clan licence thingy... ​

It was from that rank to WO5, and there were some verrry heavy druggers in it... ​It was to 999 flags, no time limit, and I joined (the winning team) at 170-970 ish, when there was a 70k fund. After 25 minutes, server restarted with score at 174-991... 600 xp and 2k fund! Not bad for half an hour's work! ​(I had the quote, but page 1206 is also broken and so lost it...:(

I went to visit Spartans of a new age, and (with permission to start doin it), I inquired if they would be up for a friendly (off the records) war, ranks WO4 to Lt Colonel (or WO5 to Colonel) ​If the former, and I rank up, I'm gonna have to get my alt on the clan page...
