    Let's Discuss Vulcan!

After the price increase in M1, M2, and M3, it's certainly not my best interest now; granted, the price increase was a fair and probably the right thing to do, but the lower price was one of my incentives for buying it. Unless they tamper with the price again, I'll probably have Isida and Hammer M3 before I buy Vulcan. M1: 12400 → 28300 M2: 73900 → 122400 M3: 231000 → 273000

[Issue 32] Ask the Community 8

Greetings, tankers! The eighth edition of Ask the Community (the fourth whilst in my control) has arrived. Once again, I've asked a myriad of people a different question concerning Tanki Online! The question for Issue 32 is: If you were granted the opportunity to bring one removed map back into the game, which would you bring back and why? @deadtoyou: I would love to have Moon Silence returned. The main reason I loved it is because it made parkour real and easy for me. Some of my first, and most memorable attempts were on Moon Silence, and I had lots of fun with my friends and family. It was, for a time, the only map I played on, I will forever hold it in my memory, and it will always be my favorite map. : If I had the opportunity to bring back one of the removed maps it would be Moon Silence. This map was only removed due to a number of complains that tankers were " Fly Hacking". This Map full of stars, sounds of space was a great map to parkour in with only one thing stopping it was the changes in gravity which could make you flip your tank over in many situations. Much like the normal Silence I feel like i'm in outer-space and without the map I feel like an Astronaut coming back to earth done with his finished mission. @LaserShark: I'd have to say 2013 new years map, the one with the large tree in the center. It was fun trying to hold the center point, gathering all the crystals until someone knocked you off. It also was a decent sized map. I don't know if holiday maps count, but I enjoyed that one. @Pow12345678: I would bring back Moon Silence because it has a very special place in my heart.. My very first gold box.. My first m1.. Everything important in my TO career has started in that map.. It was fun to do the easiest level of parkour with wasp and rico in that map with all my friends.. When it got removed, many of my friends from school stopped playing the game because they did not see anything fun left in here! I also stopped playing for couple months.. If i had the chance to bring it back, it would have never even been removed from the game. @KNELSEN4: Well, If I could bring back one map it would most definitely Deck-9! It was my favorite map because I have so many memories there before it was removed. I ranked from the warrants there, @code_root and I made one of our first YouTube videos there, I played almost every round in it before it was removed. I even tried to start a petition to keep it (Deck-9 Petition). Sadly it was still removed. If I were to bring any map back, Deck-9 would be the one. @deadmanrising: Canyon simply because it was dynamic, interesting to roam around and fun to capture flags. It was particularly for snipers too although the camping spots were limited. Railguns and smokies also had an edge in that map and there were so many tunnels to choose from. : Many others will agree with me with my choice, Moon Silence. This map was unique in its own way due to the fact that it has a galaxy themed background identical to Madness. Silence is one of the most popular maps in the game, many tankers love Madness, and many were more than excited when Moon Silence was released. Unfortunately, hackers ruined it for all players, which was a huge disgrace to the community. When it was in the game, it was a regular for me. Most battles I spotted in the battle list were Moon Silence battles. Its interesting physics with gravity were quite interesting also, a simulation of space with tanks. It would be prodigious if developers could rework the physics of Moon Silence like they did with Madness to have it back in the game. As a Facebook Moderator, I see many players on the Facebook page requesting Moon Silence to return to the game, and it would be nice to tell them it would be returning, but unfortunately for now, it's gone forever. : I want bring back map Deck-9 cuz its small map easy to caputre flag in and its easy to catch gold + parkour on map is so cool i always join Deck-9 before it removed @NewbieCake: I really think Moon Silence would be fund. I could only imagine the no gravity, it would be so much fun. But it shouldn't be available to all ranks. It should be like WO1+ because I would doubt anyone on any rank higher would risk their account for a fly hack. Especially ranks Major+. @dogm45: If I had to bring back a map it would be good old Farm CTF. This was a tight well laid out map for close combat. Back then I called it " You can't run and you can't hide map." Although you could setup some type of protective station to battle from it would not last. I had many long punishing battles in this map. A group of four on both sides would square off against each other till the very bloody end. You had to battle your way in and out of one opening. The map would force you to constantly push till the battle ended or the other team surrendered. It was a great map to learn how to work together as a team. M3 Mammoth's at the time pretty much ruled this map before and after rebalance. I met and battled against the best of the best in that map. You needed a good feeding M3 Mammoth Isida to make it in and out of the other teams side with the flag. It was a great place to warm up before going to other maps. You had to bring your "A GAME" because this map would expose your weaknesses. This wasn't a negative thing though. It helped you know what you needed to work on. This map taught me most of my close quarter battling skills. I know there are maps like this but they don't feel the same. This map could teach you skills that stay with you through your Tanki career. "Good old Farm you couldn't run and you couldn't hide." : Now I'm glad you asked this question. I would bring back Abyss. That map was very big and spacious and without a shadow of a doubt, one of the best maps for parkour. It was also one of those maps that had multiple ways of sneaking into enemy base and sneaking back out of enemy base in CTF mode. Abyss was one of my all time favorite maps and I hope it comes back into the game one day. @colonel314: Hmm... Well I haven't seen many maps go but the one I did like was Moon Silence. I joined around the farewell to moon silence event so I only got to play a couple of times but I liked it a lot. The lower gravity was cool as well as the different sky box. @mcmonkey25: There is only one possible answer for me, which is Canyon. Not only did this map have that awesome parkour ramp, which I failed to make the most of when the map was active; but it is one of the first maps I can remember playing in with friends. It was also the first map I used my M3 Light Kit in. I was very sad to see it go, especially as I still played it quite a lot. : Well, if I had the chance to bring back one map I'd say Crash. It was the first time we were introduced to the 'new props' along with gallery(Although gallery was more to show off the new props) And I remember so many people playing on it on the servers; mostly doing parkour. @okfighter: If I was given a choice it would probably be Canyon, although mainly because of its potential as a place for good Parkour. The map had great diversity, having multiple levels, which gave gameplay in the map a sense of depth. Canyon had many places where easy stunts or Parkour tricks where possible. It was in Canyon where I discovered my interest in Parkour. Little experience was necessary, yet you still got some sense of achievement when you completed the trick/stunt. However, the map was not only good for Parkour, as battling in it was pretty decent too. Gameplay in Canyon was exiting and full of action, it being a small map with lots of cover and lots of passages of attack. Nearly every sort of combo could do well in that map. : If I was granted the opportunity to bring one removed map back into the game, it will be, of course, Moon Silence. This map with less gravity was very popular and funny to play especially with Ricochet or Twins and Wasp. I also did parkours in this map. Don't remember that a game has to be funny and because of the flying hack, this map was deleted from the game and I am sad without it... @Phoenix-Warbird: Good question and what an honor! I would have to go with Deck-9. It was especially fun to play CTFs there and I never really found anything negative about it. I appreciated how both sides were different but neither was superior to the other, as PCOJ explained perfectly in The Maps That Once Were! II. Unfortunately I had only developed a liking for Deck-9 about a month and a half before it was removed, but based on what I saw during that short time, there was always a refreshing variety in the players’ turrets for some reason, which I didn’t quite see in most of the other maps at the time (that might not have been the case for higher-ranked players though). I remember some great drug wars there as well and didn’t plan to stop; it was simply a fun map. That’s when Tanki made a pretty sad decision. My opinion: I would absolutely love for Deck-9 to make a return; needless to say, it was absolute quality. It had incredible replay value, and as a result of said replay value, I had a lot of fun when playing with my friends in it. If two things are for sure, it did not deserve to be removed, and it will forever be my favourite small map of all time. What about you? Which map would you like to see make a return? Feel free to comment below!

[Issue 32] Vulcan: Players share their impressions

Greetings, readers! As you're aware, a brand new turret namely Vulcan took its stand in Tanki Online! I went around and asked a few members of our own community in order to obtain an insight of how we generally feel about Vulcan! @blackopspaul: I personally think Vulcan is a great weapon when matched with skill full players and supplies. When I saw that the Developers had a mass testing on the Vulcan, I was exited, when I finally managed to enter the test server I thought it was amazing! It reminds me of a War scene out of a war movie, it also reminds me of a real machine guns when it heats up. I think this weapon is a bit OP as the modifications move on. Its a nice weapon to use, but I don't like how its hard to turn the turret while firing. @justin_the_prosurfer: Vulcan. When i first used it in the test server i was amazed by it. I said to myself " I must have this gun in tanki online itself ! " . When more than 5 vulcans are engaged in a firefight is looks like a dramatic sense from a war movie. I tried vulcan, i then think about wasp and twins m2 trick , so i used wasp and vulcan, dam i did a 2x flip in 1 go , it even worked with dictator. AWESOME TURRET . but a little over-powered OP.But it rate of fire is to much for limitless ammo and no reloading required really. Good for medium range druggers, defenders, campers . @Sgt.Shultz: I like how the Vulcan needs to start its barrels rotating because it makes it more tactical if you are coming around a building you can start the barrels rotating and when you come around a corner you start shooting and give the enemy a surprise. But when you are firing it is hard for you to hit targets at close range so you need to use a medium/heavy hull and stay behind the lines. I also like it that the gun overheats and this keeps Tanki Online a dynamic game. : I better say that its so hard to control and the impact force . and yea the damage is also a bit low for the enemy tanks , and if its with wasp / hornet when both are shooting at the same time they may get flipped . and of course i say the looks are better , but the position at the aiming which is kept at one aim is difficult to move the aim towards an other enemy , the burning for the wasp and other tanks should be reduced and more better will be to remove that system @lovretos: Vulcan is a great weapon. With the amazing firing rate coupled with the ability to fire indefinitely, it makes the user fearless and the enemies defenceless. I like Vulcan very much but when it comes to short range combat its not that useful. its ideal for use with heavy hulls which are not moving so fast. time to overheat should be longer and damage caused by overheating should be bigger : Vulcan seem to be very strong and unique turret. About the force, it is so strong that it moves your turret when you move your hull, kind of messes your aiming. Therefore a better aiming is just don't move your hull a lot while shooting. I think Vulcan is a good turret with heavy hulls like Viking. About the temperature, your tank can be alive for a long time if you have Freeze and Isida helping. Vulcan is a long range turret, so I guess shooting from a long distance will be better from shooting in a closer distance to the enemy tanks. Vulcan's sound is awesome, it looks really good, and I think it is worth buying it. @Langlas: Vulcan, used correctly, can be a powerful foe or an invaluable ally. I first used this turret on the test servers, back before the modifications were made to its statistics. The first time I've used it since then was in game, a few hours after it was released. This is a unique gun which takes a great deal of skill and preparation to use. Learning how to effectively use the gyroscope, by far the most interesting aspect of the new turret, is something like learning a new language. When mastered it gives the tanker unprecedented control over their hull while firing. Its only real disadvantage comes with circling on light hulls. Speed and tight turns are not your friend while trying to keep on target at medium or even close ranges. While at first glance the gyroscope might seem like the perfect choice while using light hulls, in reality it can be much more complicated. One might think that you can simply begin firing on your target and dodge effectively at the same time, while this is possible it is among the most difficult maneuvers in Tanki. You have to be constantly making minute corrections, and if you make a tight turn you will be wasting valuable moments of firing time. Among the most important things to remember is the balance between halting fire and attempting to reacquire your target. The reload time, while quick, absorbs precious time. But there is also the heating effect to contend with; it may not seem like a big deal, especially with the right paint or a heavier hull, but the damage adds up. As for hulls, I find that this combination works best with a medium hull for versatility and a heavy hull for defense and in open maps. Light hulls work, and with the right skills you can dominate, however when paired with this turret they can do more harm than good. As keeping on target with the gyro can be tricky. They're definitely something to consider when you become a master machine gunner. Viking is my personal favorite, it's relatively easy to drive and fire at the same time, and you have plenty of health. An all-rounder for almost every situation this combo can cause massive damage to enemy defense lines very quickly, cover a retreating flag bearer, or defend a corridor to its last drop of health. Hunter and Dictator work similarly. Heavy hulls work well in the right map, although if a fast enemy gets close, he can tear you apart before you even begin firing. Slipping past and circling with a light hull is quite easy when facing a Mammy or even Titan. The slow rotation speed coupled with your hulls barely present turning speed and Vulcan's charge up poses a powerful threat and is one of this weapons primary disadvantages. I won't go into much detail about tactics, as new guides will be arriving from more experienced players soon. Overall I think this new turret can add a lot of enjoyment and allow you to try something new. I strongly suggest that you try it out, and perhaps purchase the latest modification when we get a sale. @snipe3000: Vulcan is a good weapon to use, but mainly at far range. At close range your shot hits everything besides the enemy tank. Vulcan would be a good weapon for Monte Carlo, Silence, or any other big maps. Vulcan wouldn't be a good weapon for maps like Zone, Duality, or Duel, but it all depends upon your taste. With Vulcan you can shoot repeatedly but when your energy runs out you start loosing health. If you have an isida or freeze with you they can heal and cool you down when you get overheated. The sound affects give the gun a feel of firing a real machine gun! I Recommend buying it @The_Little_Cousin: TO Developers has done a really good job in developing those Turrets and Paints "Their design are really nice and awesome" Vulcan is a very good weapon and actually the best combination Ive played with it is Vulcan- Viking , For a player to be able to play with this turret they must have some skills & experience in turning their turret while moving at the same time , but it is very tricky and difficult to play with this turret for new players and even some ranked players as many of them don't even know how to turn their turrets at Third Lieutenant "I hope that the new update for "Mouse" will help them a lot. Vulcan and Hammer are very good weapon and what I particularly love with those new Turrets are their sound effect for reloading and shooting as it help you too know when your weapon is reloaded for the next shot. (The weapon itself is really good for mid-range and defense). @metalcrusher: In my opinion, I think it is too over powered. Even if you still have a paint, you get killed to fast. But besides that, I think it's cool to have a machine gun in the game. @IronElves: I have used Vulcan a couple of times but it hasn't been one of the luckiest weapons for me.When I first brought this weapon I was really excited because it was new! When I first used it,I hoped for good technique and tried to learn the way the gun flows.I was finding it hard because: of the starting time where you have to wait, running' and gunning', so it isn't one of my favourite weapons and I didn't like the way of this weapon. So I joined a battle with my Vulcan and hoped to get a good score. The battle ended and I got a low score with only a couple of kills but a lot of deaths.Later I switched load outs to my normal load out which is XP,I went against a couple of Vulcan's and I figured that we all had the similar problem and that this is the way of the weapon. People have figured tactics that Vulcan would be best for defense with heavy hulls so that heat time would cause less damage. The importance of this weapon is quite great,in defense a 'friendly' isida can heal you all the time without you self-destructing which is quite powerful due to unlimited ammo. As a result I think that the Vulcan can be too OP in defense.Even if you have a paint you can still be easily killed but what makes it balanced is the rotation of the turret : Personally, I don't think vulcan is overpowered, with the protective paints now in game, it's not "overpowered". If you face a vulcan head on it's unlikely you will come off best, However because vulcan has a delay to start firing, you can dictate the terms of the engagement. In close quarters like on hill, or the tunnels of silence, you put an enemy vulcan into quite an awkward situation. It's almost like railgun in the sense you can trick them into firing, and unless the vulcan is willing to do self burn they will have to cease. Vulcan is definitely not an enemy to be taken lightly, It's impact force isn't as ridiculous as it was it was in testing, but it can still give you a hard time, especially if you're a light hull using a ranged turret. I do like the concept of Vulcan, and the name, I was skeptical about it at first, "How can a machine gun damage a heavily armoured tank?!", and i'm thankful they pointed out that tanki is sci-fi game in the video blog. One of my favourite things about Vulcan is it's sound effects, the noise when it fires, and the noise when you get shot by it. I'm also a fan of the textures, tanki's art department did a great job as usual. The devs did a good job of turning a turret that a lot of people expected to be OP into a great addition to the game. One more thing, Personally, I would pair Vulcan with Viking, Because Vulcan's gun barrel has a rather high mounting point, so using it with a low profile hull like viking is a good balance, for my play style at least. That's about it! : Vulcan with slight alteration may make it better in others words its not the best nor worst. I have "tested" it out, first of all it was AMAZING then as it slowly got into the game it made it hard for me to control vulcan and I didn't get the same scores as I did with railgun or anyother guns. Every turret has a weakness and a strength point, I think the weakness for vulcan would be the slight delay before it fires a bullet (as well as the over-heating), and the strengthness would be the unlimited amount of bullets. I would equip vulcan with a heavily armoured hull (e.g. Mammoth or Titan) because of the time it takes to shoot and the over-heating. I still haven't found any tactics with vulcan but I will learn (somehow), in many of the "photos" vulcan has been equipped with titan (or probably all the "photos"). Like many players I have a favourite turret and hull, and unfortunately vulcan isn't in the top 3 for me.Well, another good point about vulcan would be the way it moves hulls, the oppenent may miss a shot or just fall over. Every battle I take there is always a vulcan, if they were good enough with it they would come at least the top 5 (on the scoreboard). Like I said before it is not the best nor the worst... There you have it - what do you think of Vulcan? Feel free to comment below!

I understand - perhaps I'll wait for the Vulcan paints to come before definitely buying Tiger and Irbis; although Hunter M3 is certain.

    Let's Discuss Hammer!

Once thinking about it more, it actually is quite useful. Solid Isida protection (which are everywhere at this rank) plus great Hammer + Smoky protection; I no longer have to pick since I can have both. Although the reasoning is somewhat original, its necessity is there k
  12. Yeah, hopefully I get another one on a different map.

I'd buy it, but I can already envision the nerf coming weeks after its release. I'm sure Tiger, Irbis + the medium hull that works with every single turret will do fine.

    Let's Discuss Hammer!

Good choices, are you sure most of them are necessary?
  18. No, I mean common sense. You made the assumption that Deck-9 left us ages back, despite after saying you played it somewhat recently - hence, if you used common sense, you would have realized that Deck-9 was removed somewhat recently, hence why you PLAYED IT somewhat recently. And I'm not even going to comment on what's bolded - that speaks for itself. Finally, I'm done with this conversation, and you. Back on-topic.
  19. It left us rather recently - use some common sense.
