OK, we agree on some things. 1. Yes, mammoth was nerfed WAY too far. More below. 2. Have you ever tried to approach a twins? If you are near a twins camping on a flag in defense, you have to keep moving. You are in the enemy spawns. You can't always wait for a strategic way to attack a mammoth like in a DM. The other spawning enemies will kill you. 3. That wasn't sarcastic. Seriously my main is nearly at the rank with the symbol of 4 gold diamonds(I don't remeber the name). Do you think M2 rico is worth it? It is OP right now. I currently use M2 isida, which does work OK. But it won't be half as good three ranks from now. As for "why not just balance the game". The devs could completely balance the game, all tiers, all weapons, all hulls, tomorrow if they wanted. They won't, for the reasons in my above post. Guns and hulls wouldn't need to be rebalanced except when a physics update or something happened, and then they could easily get it right within a couple weeks. They don't want to. They want to preserve the current system, which makes more money, at least in the short term, with less work. It is easier to nerf the previously OP weapons occasionally to force players with the previously OP weapons to lose or buy, then to continually develop a good game. Human nature won. [EDIT] It just occurred to me that everyone who bought that fancy moon silence paint with 22% rico protection is just laughing right now. M3 mammoth is an example. It used to be great and a ton of people bought it. But then these updates, which as you said went too far and nerfed it to the ground, occurred. How many players went and bought crystals to get M3 titan? I am guessing quite a few. If you couldn't get titan, you had a major disadvantage. The point of the constant "balances" is to force people to buy by nerfing the equipment they bought with the crystals they earned. Tanki made money at the Mammoth users expense. I noticed the censor too, that is really really, odd I don't think it is my computer.

I think you miss the point. Yes, let's discuss what is currently better and OP, but know as you buy it, that the next update will destroy months of work on your part, as tanki does another shortsighted rebalance. The trick here is more figuring out what will be OP after the next rebalance, or the one after that. Twins have always been OP. Maybe after this next "balance" they will be nerfed. Or maybe I am dreaming : ). An Anonymous Alt

    1. Mammoth and drugging like @#!*% are almost synonymous. Seriously, so far as I can tell most heavy tank users are hardcore druggers at the higher ranks. One of the actually good updates was the update that reduced nitro and gave the light tanks more speed. This was great because silence games were no longer chock full of drugger mammoth/isida/freeze/flame. That update turned drugging mammoths from nearly unstoppable attackers and defenders to just nearly unstoppable defenders 2. An assassin firebird can easily cripple it and damage several tanks neaby fatally. Well, if the mammoth has twins, freeze, or isida, it probably won't get hurt much. Second of all, the firebird dies after damaging it. Which is okay, because if this were a team game, I could approach from the other flank and take the flag and run. Unfortunately, I don't speak Russian, teams are full of mults/crystal collectors rather than people who would rather use teamwork, and finally, any good strategy will be ruined by one unlucky encounter with one enemy freeze. Tanki has replaced teamwork with drugging noobs stealing pots. I think it is rather sad that this game is built around paying noobs with no skill whatsoever (I have seen very high ranked players trying to figure out how to use shaft and scoping in to tap someone) drugging to steal pots from skilled people. 3. Yes, please, let's dissect invdividual ranks and stuff. Should I get M2 rico in my main? On an unrelated note, I think the "need for speed with guns" post has a point. The tanks used to be agonizingly slow. Finally the devs improved this somewhat with new physics and the nitro mod. Unfortunately, the maps are still designed for tanks with appallingly slow speeds. Yeah, if they would just balance the game, work on improving it, smarter and wiser players would consider buying. I could be wrong, but I think that the "so many do not wish t take the gamble of buying truck loads of crystals, with such an unstable set of parameters that can change at any time, making previous purchases pointless. and a waste of money." are outnumbered by people who buy crystals, have their equipment nerfed... and repeat their mistake. Unfortunately, tanki has realized this as well, and is doing these balances to make more money, instead of making a better game to attract more buyers. This game's days might be numbered. I wouldn't be surprised if unity went the way of Tanki 2.0. Very good points. An Anonymous Alt

DGSlima: "It's like they told me "Yeah, we know you spent a lot of time and crystals evolving your tank, but guess what, now your turret and hull are garbage.". Yes... Every recent "balance" tanki update has gone like that, starting with the original rebalance. Playing tanki you earn enough cry to get one set of hulls and guns M3. Each of these updates makes a different set of hulls and guns OP, so that non-buyers that bought a competitive gun before now have trash. And a non-buyer can't afford to buy another turret or hull. People, tanki devs never will "balance" the game. The weapons in a tier will never be equal, for instance M3 rico = M3 twins. Tanki is not trying to and never will balance the game. They make their money by swapping the OP equipment in and out to force people to buy to compete. I like tanki much better when they were developing the game, making things look better and work better. Now they are just repeatedly changing the balance so that non-buyers are screwed. The only thing you can do about this is buy the underpowered equipment now and hope that it will be the new OP equipment when they next "balance" the game... Except oh wait, if you do that, you won't be able to afford M3 according to the tanki devs, who say you will only be able to afford one combination to M3. I guess we are screwed either way. And yes DGSlima, freeze and particularly freeze mammoths parked on flags ruin CTF entirely. I leave a CTF team if the other team has multiple freezes. The tanki devs don't care about fun gameplay anymore, and won't fix this. An Anonymous Alt in Search of Old Tanki

What to buy? Which is better?

Yeah. Which is better post-rebalance, M2 thunder, rico, or rail? Does rail reliably one shot M1 hornets? Does a ricochet have enough shots to take out the medium tanks yet?

    What is your "old Tanki"?

My old tanki? The good old days? My main wasn't that far advanced by rebalance, and I saved when I should have spent and got a decent gun to be competitive. Saving ensured that, although I lost no crystals, I was without the means of getting any more. Enough of my noob mistakes. Old tanki was before rebalance. When the devs were creating an awesome, rapidly expanding game. One with graphics that improved, (I can remember a couple of updates to graphics), new equipment, better maps, all the players could play all the maps once they achieived a very low rank. I rediscovered and started playing some of the awesome maps of tanki, such as rift, industrial zone, and some others... A couple weeks before the shortsighted decision to move them way above my rank. Thanks devs. In case you were wondering, removing my access to cool maps did NOT increase my willingness to buy, just decreased it. Then came the disasters of rebalance, update 123, every "balance" since. Recently, tanki is easy to predict. The devs will never balance the game again. Guns will continue to be more or less OP with each "balance" so that you have to buy crystals to be effective. Pay 2 win. Personally, I think maybe the devs have realized that tanki was getting a bit dated and decided to just let it go, and milk the players for all they are worth with these "rebalances". It seems like real development stopped a while ago, and ever since all we have gotten is "balances" to make some fast cash. On the bright side, dynamic lighting is really good. But you never know, maybe they just need the money to develop the unity version and it will be awesome. Maybe they just don't want to work on this game when the unity version is coming soon. :) :tank: . PS. Seriously, why do the unity models look so stupid?? And unity is capable of phenomenal graphics, why don't the devs utilize that? PPS. Anyone remember tanki 2.0?

    Battles list bug

When I click on a battle, on main server or test, the selected battle switches back and forth between the battle at the top of the screen and the one I selected. If I select another one, it moves between all three, and so on. This makes it nearly impossible to enter the battles that I wish to. I could not find a similar topic on the forum. Tanki Future: Please read.

[EDIT] This is the second time I have posted this topic. The first time it was mysteriously "hidden". Not locked, or banned, but hidden. This topic is not against the rules. By hiding it, instead of locking it, whichever mod hid it is admitting the same. This post is true, and it does not break the forum rules. If you don't like this, mods, say so in a reply. Don't abuse your privileges. Are we clear? First there was: rebalance. Then the infamous 123. TThen microupgrades. Then another rebalance of shaft, twins, rico, etc. Then this. Except for maybe rebalance, none of these updates improved game play at all. These were not done with the players in mind. They were done to force buyers to pay more money to maintain their top equipment. For instance, pre re-balance, buyers(and non-buyers too, I miss my M3 : ( ) could and did get a full M3 garage. Problem is, once the buyers bought themselves all the best hulls/guns, they stopped buying. Well, instead of just waiting for new players, or advertising the game too attract new players, the tanki devs had a plan. They did "rebalance". Now all the crystals from the M3s... would hardly get you a good post-rebalance M-3 combo, if even that. Well, tanki devs must have been right. Having been ripped off by rebalance, the buyers promptly bought more crystals to buy the new "OP guns". Then 123. Someone noticed after rebalance, maybe because tanks killed faster/moved faster, that it was possible for non-buyers to rank up and earn crystals still. Not very easily, but that wasn't going to happen. Not on a tanki dev's watch! So they nerfed the economy to make it extremely difficult to earn enough crystals to get the guns as you ranked up. Basically, to force people to buy to be able to afford more than one gun, or even just that one gun. Eventually, due to the extremely slow rate of progress and widespread complaining(don't say it never works) tanki fixed this a little bit. Then Microupgrades. Microupgrades at M3 can take days to occur. Fully upgrading an M3 would take months of straight muing, no playing (playing to earn the crystals for MUing would have to be done with another gun, which players pretty much have to buy...). So from here on out I am assuming that players at M3 always use speedups. Fully upgrading an M3 costs millions of crystals. Yet, since it existed, a few players used the MUs, forcing many others to buy crystals to be able to be competitive even, much less retain that buyer equipment dominance. Once again: tanki makes it harder to be competitive to force more people to buy or previous buyers to buy again. These microupgrades are nearly impossible to get without buying, certainly not to M3.75, which would take literally years of straight gameplay. And then along would come a "rebalance" and the players who bought millions of crystals to upgrade a hull/gun now have an underpowered hull/gun Then these recent rebalances: Buyers/players buy the guns that are currently OP. So tanki massively changes the game. Most people can't afford to buy the new OP gun, so they either have to play with a less OP gun OR pay real money. The repeat buyers get ripped off yet again, as they rush to buy cry to buy the new OP guns. The other nonbuyer players are screwed, or set back by months as they try to get a different gun. The pattern is this: Devs change game. Players accomodate game by buying new "OP" guns, hulls, etcetera. Devs update game to make their equipment worthless(new guns are "OP"). Players buy new "OP guns"... But they have to buy crystals to do it. Remeber, the game according to the developers is designed so that at generalisimo you have enough crystals for 1 and only 1 M1, M2, and M3. In other words, after you buy a gun, if it is one of the guns that loses in the next rebalance, you ae screwed. You have to either give up on having enough crystals for M3 as a generalisimo and buy a different gun/hull, pay for crystals, or camp for crystals for months. If you don't like these updates, consider what happens when you pay for them. It just makes the next "update" more likely. The purpose of these updates is not improving the game, it is to make money. I think this game is dying. When a noob joins, they know they won't get to generalisimo. Usually, they get stuck in the high warrant officer rate it seems, based on the player rank/battle distribution. There seem to be noob-> warrant officer and generalisimo, with less and less in between. This game is dying as a result of these updates. And I won't miss it much anymore. Tanki used to be a pretty awesome game, and even sort of balanced game, before the original rebalance. It was even possible to acheive the best M3s without buying. And we have had some positive updates as well, for instance new physiics, better graphics, etcetera. But the repeated sequence seems to be, instead of improving the game or advertising to get new players and potential buyers, Tanki will do a "rebalance" which will never make the game balanced, just change which guns are OP so that players will have to buy to be competitive. This is why a refund is out of the question. Tanki is quite capable of giving a refund at any time, and as the game has changes in balance and moves to an entirely different platform, now would be a fair time to do it. But they won't do it. If players got their crystals back when the balance changed, they could get the newest OP gun instead of the now nerfed gun they used to have, thus destroying the pay-2-win aspect of the game. Hazel-Rah(Has anyone here ever read Watership Down, or is that not related?) has admitted that he isn't "balancing", he is "nerfing" and "buffing". So please, remeber that if you spend real money to buy the newest OP gun after this update, you are just increasing the chance of another one of these updates, where the devs will make your tank that you bought with real money useless. Tanki devs, instead of trying to repeatedly nerf your players' guns/hulls so they have to buy, please consider focusing on improving the game. Instead of this upcoming update which makes the tanks look like toys that were bent out of shape in strange looking worlds, try to add at least some realism. I don't want tanki to be realistic either, but the upcoming unity system just looks plain stupid as it is. Unity is capable of some seriously good graphics(I don't think I can reference other f2p online games, here but there are examples). I know, programming a game to make it better is harder than doing a "rebalance" to line your pockets. But in the long run, for the game to be successful, it needs development. Devs, instead of forcing current players to buy to win, improve the game until people actually want to buy. An Anonymous Alt
