Hey tankers, this is ShadowyNinja and here is my guide to the new map, Rio. This guide will mostly be about CTF but some of the tactics can be applied to TDM as well. CTF in Rio is great. Fantastic. I think it might be in my top 3 favorite things in Tanki. But anyway, this is a guide, so lets get down to business. I like to think of CTF in this map as four separate, but intertwined battles. If you look at the map from the beach side (with the blue base on your right and the red base on the left), there are two distinct lanes, on right in front of you and the other across the map, plus two more, one right down the middle on the ground and the other directly above it. In basically all the CTF battles that I have played in (totaling about 2 hours), the red team attacked mostly along the right side on the road with a fairy steady relay attack and the blue team usually had a heavy defense in their base and along the far corridor on the hill and an almost constant attacking drive along the top lane across the bridges. Now for the individual teams. Red Team: Midfield: This team is all about the midfielders. As there are only two entrances to the red base and not a lot of opportunity for the blues to shoot the red defenders, it is possible to pull off an easy win with only one defending freeze. If the midfielders are good. The midfield position is so important in this team because of the heavy blue defense and blue's extremely strong base position. Though the midfield position isn't particularly hard, it should be taken by rails and thunders (not shafts) because of the limited cover. The midfield players should also know which defenders to shoot at and keep busy as their goal is not to eliminate the defenders and have them rapidly spawn back in, but rather to keep them pinned down so they can't go after the red attackers. The midfielders should also assist with the capture of flags by following the caper and picking up dropped flags. There are three main positions for midfielders but positions farther up and down the lanes also work well. These positions are: Attacker: Attacking in Rio is really quite easy to do. I recommend coming in either on the lane on top of the buildings, waiting until the midfielders have cleared out most of the defenders, jumping off, grabbing the flag, and running, or coming in on the left side of the map, waiting, grabbing the flag, and running out in the direction of you nearest teammate as the defenders will stick to you like glue. Here are the main attack routes: Defending: Defending isn't easy on Rio, especially if you have less than three defenders. Assuming you have three defenders, all of them should be able to cover the flag directly. A formation that comes to mind for this setup is one defender for the upper and right ramps like this: Another for the left ramp like this: And the third goes here: This concludes Part I of my Rio Guide. Part II, on the blue team and its tactics, will be out in a few days. Thanks so much for reading and see you on the battlefield,

Player Redwall2 has been banned for a MONTH. Reason: not using the correct color in his post.

Hey Tankers, I am wondering if there are any similar ranked players on the forums who would be interested in playing together for an hour or two on teamspeak (if you don't know what teamspeak is, look here). I would preferably play with another rail user, a thunder, or an isida (i also occasionally use isida myself) but any weapon would work. If you are interested, contact me by PM or Skype (qak1999). thanks, shadow

read these articles in tanki newspaper (http://en.tankiforum.com/index.php?showtopic=172919, http://en.tankiforum.com/index.php?showtopic=169536, http://en.tankiforum.com/index.php?showtopic=166275&hl=) as for mines, I would never buy them. wait for them as daily bonus gifts and use them sparingly.

I am a good rail sniper using rail m1+hornet m1 and forester with 50k crystals but I am wondering what would be better. I am either going to save for m2 rail and hornet m2 or get a better paint. I would like to know what you think I should do and if you think I should get a paint, what paint would it be. thanks so much shadowyninja
