CombatCat2 started following Goodbye
-
It was a cold winter day. I was on the way home from school, conversing with a friend. I dismissed the conversation at first, but later that night, sitting at home, it came back to me. I quickly opened my computer and shot my friend an email about possible names. An hour later, when he didn’t respond, I decided to choose one. I opened the site, clicked “Fight” and typed in “CombatCat2.” My career was born. That was on December 2, 2013. Hard to believe it was almost two years ago. Quite a bit happened between then and now. In the upper Sergeant ranks, I bought my first M1, Smoky. By the time I was a WO4, I had 6 decent M1s: Firebird, Isida, Smoky, Railgun, Hornet, and Mammoth. When I was in the mid Second Lieutenant range, I bought the Stinger kit (M2 Isida, Hornet, Fracture), giving me 2 M2s. Then, in June, as a Captain, I bought M2 Railgun. In mid September I ranked to Major, meaning I’m still less than halfway done (xp terms, not ranks) over two years of playing. It’s been a wonderful time, but I think it has come to an end. This may seem abrupt, but as my 2000th post, I’m officially announcing that I’m leaving Tanki. I can expect some questions, might as well get them out of the way: “Will you ever come back?” Honestly, it’s entirely possible, but not likely. “Are you still going to play once and a while?” I would say maybe. I will log on every few months or during a big sale. But for the most part, I’m done. “Are you quitting just the forum, or just the game?” At this point, probably both. Again, I might log onto the forum or game once and a while, but I won’t be at all active anymore. And probably the biggest question, “Why?” I have several reasons for leaving. By far the biggest is school. With school taking more and more of my time, it leaves me with less time for games like this one, ones that require a lot of time to maintain or improve skill. Besides, a good education is far more important than a videogame. Another reason is the updates. Ever since the removal of crystal drops, the game has gotten less fun and more business like (profit based). Yes, I could start naming bad updates, but I’ll spare you and just give the big one. Unity. One of the best parts I liked about Tanki was the graphics. I liked that it was fictional and not realistic. There are other good realistic tank games (like WoT and WT). But with the new Tanki showing more real-world graphics, in addition to the fact that Unity Web Player doesn’t work on my computer (and I see the flash Tanki falling apart after Unity releases), it became a “quit now or quit later” decision. I chose now. Most of you probably don’t know who I am, and I’m ok with that. I’m not posting this for recognition, just to tell my friends that I’m leaving. Which I guess I should do right about now: -To (what was once) my parkour club: I wish you all the best of luck. Keep up the good work! -To all of the friends which I have found here: I will miss you all and will think of you when I see or hear of Tanki. Good luck in everything you do! -To everyone else: Goodbye. Well, I promised myself that I wouldn’t make it too long, and although I already failed, I should start wrapping up anyways. It’s been an excellent 2 years, but after today I’m gone. Some of the highlights/best memories of my career can be found in this spoiler: So, I’ve finally decided to take the advise that every tanker has given at least once in their lives, and I’m going to go “get a life.” Goodbye everybody! :( ~@CombatCat2
