I am a mature Tanker with 17 years experience working in the computer and network support industry. I have 2 years experience playing Tanki. I have several accounts at various ranks and play nearly all servers. Over the years, I have eliminated as many performance bottle necks as possible and am very familiar with any local issues I may have. My computer has not been a problem since my 2nd month of playing.. My ISP is an ongoing collection of issues, but is fairly predictable. I start each day's battle session with a fresh router reboot and then test performance with network tools and real world observation, such as Youtube video streaming performance. My gaming computer is set up with a dual boot which is finely honed to run Tanki using an optimized (stripped down) install of XP. This install does not load any any type of auxiliary programs or security software. The total ram usage is 186MB of ram after boot. Dell Prescision 670 Dual 3.2Ghz Xenon processors 4mb cache each 2GB ram Nvidia Geforce GT 620 graphics adapter Wired network connection Well maintained: temporary files are dumped weekly, partitions defragmented bi-monthly Adobe standalone flash player 18 with caching set to "unlimited" ( I do not use any web browser, ever) AT&T 1.5Mbp DSL. usually tests at 1.2Mps - but this is an inaccurate real-life measurment as AT&T developed and uses "Intelligent Throttling" to thwart abuse.. raw file download speeds are often capped at 175Kbs) Located in the US I frequently enjoy Tanki at 45-60 FPS with 60-75ms pings. Average performance is typically around 25-45 FPS with 70-115ms pings, and of course there are those bad days of 12-25 FPS and 100-300ms pings ** However as of Tuesday, September 29, My gaming experience has been untenable. ** I feel that to label these new experiences as "Lag" is a inaccurate. "Server Service Interruption" is a far better description of what we have observed over the last week. I often play with buddy who is located near me, but has a different ISP. We battle using voice chat (Mumble) and these service interruptions happen to both of us at the same time. This illuminates at least a regional problem, if not a global service issue. What we observe when the interruptions occur: All players experience the interruption at the same time All tanks stop, (except my tank) All turrets rotate I can not destroy or push any tanks I can not pick up any assets (Flags or supplies) Flags are often dropped if they were being taken before the service interruption. Lasts from 15 seconds to over 1 minute often occurs 4 to 5 times in a 15 minute battle I believe and accept that lag is inherent in Tanki and that it is nearly impossible to have 100% laggless battles. Personally I am amazed that Tanki works at all, as it is extremely difficult, if not impossible, to sync data streams to and from 20 globally distributed Flash clients running on a wide variety of hardware, operating systems and ISP's. "Lag" would be better used to describe typical poor game performance due to individuals' performance issues. Like anyone else, when my (or other players') ISP or computer is misbehaving, I typically experience lag issues as : Typical episodic / intermittent lag: tanks move strangely, "moving rapidly back and forth and/or up and down Can be destroyed by rails or shafts when safely behind buildings Observe Isida's running around with "cotton mouth" unable to heal or damage Slow interface load Slow battle load Failed battle loads Battle loads with initial high pings / low FPS but improves over time Battle loads initial partial participation: I can not kill or pick up assets, but can be killed. As soon as I destruct or am killed, I usually have normal game play. What we are experiencing is interruption of data flow from the server.. much worse than lag. Was there an update that introduced a bug? I certainly don't know.. I would think that the frequency and severity of these service interruptions would be fairly easy to illuminate, troubleshoot, and resolve. I could easily suspect that these service interruptions could be indicative of larger problems than server glitches.. such as the results from DDoS (Distributed Denial of service) attacks affecting various ISPs, global internet backbone routers, the hosting facility.. or even hosting facility problems in general. Over the years I have utilized network analysis tools (AnalyzePath & Path Analyzer Pro) to help troubleshoot my historic ISP problems. However I am surprised that my testing consistently reveals that the longest response times of all hops involved in my typical path to the Tanki servers are not in my ISP's immediate network, rather located inside Leaseweb.net (The hosting facility in Amsterdam from which Tanki leases their servers.) Though not alarming, as this could be indicative of network security features such as anti-DDoS packet inspection behind the gateway, I still find it odd that the slowest response times of my global network path to Tanki are typically 3 hops before my traffic reaches the game server. Good luck figuring this out. peace

Let's discuss the updated system for earlier battle finish

The early termination system is resetting far too easily / frequently. I find that the Klaxons are invasive and entirely disruptive to game play. Please make them stop. I have been in multiple 30 minute battles in a row that where slated for early termination and which reset constantly, even though the dominating team continued to dominate. Thanks and kudos to the Devs! -

Thx Pauleta, good to know - Friends list is much faster fix than refreshing. -
Intermittent Keyboard issues - Tab, Delete, and F stop responding

Good day, I would like to thank the Tanki Dev community for all of you hard work. I have a small yet annoying issue that I wish to make sure gets reported. I and many other players have been experiencing intermittent keyboard problems. This started 2 weeks ago.. but have been more frequent in the last 4 days. This tends to occur about 1 time every 2-3 hours Description: The Tab, Delete and F keys stop responding. Drive, turret, and view keys continue to function. A refresh or restart returns normal function Typical Tanki care and maintenance ( cache clearing etc) have had no lasting effect. So far I have been able to establish via chat that this issue: happens to players all over the world affects all browsers and the standalone flash projector Neither I nor any of the folks I have talked to have been able to define any action that causes this anomaly.. I am a seasoned computer tech, use the standalone flash projector, and have a rocking PC. Thanks in advance
