Contest [Issue 38] Can you Contribute to Tanki's Finest News Source? Returns!

May 2015: Semyon Kirov slouched at the absurdly vast Tanki HQ conference table on a rainy Friday afternoon at 4:30, discussing with the developers about the current state of the game and how to improve it. That is, if looking at the clock every three seconds and yawning constitutes “discussion.” Bored out of his senses, Semyon mumbled “Hey, we could, uh...get rid of daily gifts...” Two minutes later, the developers jerked up (hey, like I said, this conference table is really long) Confronted by such a preposterous idea, they gaped at him like he’d just asked them to let Fen-Harel play in a developers vs. players basketball tournament. Startled by their response, he added “but we can replace them with missions instead!” The developers blithely jumped on board with this scheme, introducing said missions with great fanfare on July 13. Players were ecstatic, raking in mounds of crystals and getting great gear. Soon, however, now that many players were so rich, they saw no need to pay for crystals. The devs panicked and, in secret, reduced all the reporters’ salaries to balance the plunging budget. The cut was so drastic that Hogree was now in abject poverty, and no longer able to afford chicken, the entire reporter team plunged into despair. Even worse, since Hog accounts for 60% of chicken sales on the planet, investors bailed out of all the poultry companies, tanking the economy and starting the world on a precarious path towards death-by-lack-of-chicken. Appalled by the repercussions of their foolish decision, the developers halved the daily mission rewards and returned all staff to full pay (except for Fen, who always got half), righting the economy and sending KFC stock soaring. Moral of the story? Never mess with chicken. Bad things happen. 296 words. -

[Issue 36] Combo of the Month (Twins/Hornet): In Practice
Legolover3 replied to Kevred in Newspaper Archive
Hm....even more embarrassing - I LOVE Isida on my alt, but I don't even have it M0 on my main. *Illuminati confirmed* -
Yes...boom! Old sitiuations: Big-size rewards, but Crystals don't come all that often. New one: Small rewards, but lots of them are crystals :D So now I will have more crystal flow from missions than when they were in their nascent brand-new state! Yummy.

Semyon explained in the V-Log that XT items are identical to M3s save in looks. So even if I had M0 Hornet and Rail, if I completed the super-missions I would have XT equipment that would be M3. XT items are separate from regular Hornet and Rail.

Review [Issue 37] Combo of the Month: Hammer/Dictator
Legolover3 replied to Kevred in Newspaper Archive
Well, the point of using a certain combo is to use it in an environment that suits it. In this case, that's pretty much all medium/small maps. A combo is bad if it doesn't work well anywhere or only in extremely rare situations. This combo can be used well on the right map, i.e. NOT large maps. Using Dictator-Hammer is violating the rule (in my mind) of no short range weapons on heavy hulls on large maps (unless you're a defender sitting on the flag, of course). -
Review [Issue 37] Combo of the Month: Hammer/Dictator
Legolover3 replied to Kevred in Newspaper Archive
Bro. Get M2 Hammer and M2 Dictator. Try again on a small map. Pick up the splattered remains of your brain from the floor where you dropped it after getting 100 kills in 15 mins. :D P.S. M2 1-shots M2 hornet with DD. And no, I don't have M2 Hammer OR Dictator. I speak from experience with a heavily MU'ed M1 Hammer. And I've seen plenty of people excel with Hammer-Dictator in Poly CPs. :P
