    Changes to micro-upgrades

This is another in a long series of changes aimed to use up crystals faster and thereby motivate players to pay real money to buy more. Previous suspicious changes include making boxes expire nearly twice as fast as before (which makes us less willing to buy more); "upgrading" hulls, and especially turret knockback power, so that tanks flip more easily (more self-destructs = more wasted boxes); "upgrading" the lethality of different turrets at different times (and introducing new ones) in the hope that some players will pay for additional, and expensive new paints; and increasing the power of the cheaper, short-range turrets favored by lower-ranking players (including at least twice strengthening Firebird, or as I call it, "The No-Skill Thrill") to raise destruction rates and thus the number of boxes wasted. (And don't forget too that crystals are much more expensive than 18 months ago.) I understand T-O is in part used as a test bed for a PC or console version, but nearly every change would also theoretically encourage spending of real money on T-O. Judging from the decline in play over the last 18 months the changes are having the opposite effect. Is T-O paying attention?
