Thank you Canadian_Eh! Some seem to try to pick as confusing a name as possible, so reporting them is more difficult, especially if in a different language. I have to wait until they show up in the scores and click them there. Could the game not be made so you can report them simply by a right-then-left click on their name in the actual game, rather than in the scores? It would be quick, easier and you would not have to give up so many of your own lives hunting them down! I've been working on an idea for a while now, Perhaps it has already been discussed, or perhaps others could improve it? I have noticed that many players seem to pick on the smallest and weakest, to improve their scores. I don't see much of a challenge in that, so I often go for the really big tanks. Of course my score is not as good as the others and so I do not get as many rewards - But I believe I learn more by attacking those who are bigger, more powerful and who are more experienced. So I was thinking that if stopping the blue boxes is seriously considered, how about a reward (experience and/or crystals) based on the "tonnage" of tanks you destroy? Or possibly something like the tonnage of each tank, times the rank of the owner of that tank, divided by 100 (so it would technically be a percentage) as your "score" for each tank you destroy? Does anyone think there might be something workable here as an alternative to the boxes dropping? If your experience points were dependent on WHAT you destroyed, it would also solve the problem of those tanks that are script-driven and just drive around aimlessly, simply building experience points and not actually playing any part.

I am in the minority here, playing mainly in non-team games, but so many of the problems reported here occur there as well. However tonight when I voted on one cheat, a little while later a message came up saying that a moderator had made a decision and suddenly that player was no longer impossible to beat. Not only that, but some messages in Cyrillic that I was not able to read went past in messages. Then all the players seemed to stop cheating. My points being that firstly the message from the mods is a GOOD IDEA! It lets you know that at least someone has LISTENED to your vote, even if they do not agree with you. Secondly, I have to disagree that you have to "catch" everyone cheating in a game, they warn each other when a "Reporter" is in the game and actively reporting cheats. If moderators back you up, only one honest player can clean up many games. If any of you know about the arguments for having Police patrol and area, the argument goes that it is a deterrent - Just seeing the Police in the area deters crime as you never know if they will be passing by when you do something wrong. So PLEASE stick with this, we seem to be making a difference and that is what Tanki needs if it is not to degenerate in to a cheating-only game. I do play some team games and I have been lucky enough to find some really nice people there and in Parkour / No Kill games. I actually like the idea of these games as it allows me to explore the area without being killed and lets me experiment to get used to a new tank, or upgrade. Having a smaller tank, any change in speed or weight really affects my tank a lot and the handling characteristics do change noticeably. I find I have to get used to the change and typically I crash in to things like a n00b, or someone on the receiving end of intentionally-introduced lag!

Can we possibly add those who can SEE the gold box dropping and see where you are hiding, or which direction you turn in, round a blind corner? I am currently in battle fffffffc0518bd7b and it became obvious that they could not guess where I was with 100% accuracy - They can see you. Then I found a website called hackerbot dot net that for $5 will sell you the hacks to just such a thing and many others. So I have posted a new topic on the game violators section, but I am unsure if it will be accepted as I had to mention that the moderator appearred to ban someone from the in game chat, but nothing about the obvious cheating going on. I don't want to ;leave the game, as I've collected over 2,000 crystals and will soon reach 100,000 battle fund with 120+ kills. This is really getting annoying now, Tanki HAS to do something about all the blaten cheating going on.

Olfen, you put into words so well, what I am finding I am feeling myself already - I'm quite new, only found Tanki a month ago and I find I'm playing it less and less now. The fun just is not there. For example, today I reported perhaps a dozen or so players. One game had 17 out of 19 players leave when I said I had reported one and was going to report all cheating. How much cheating is going on then? This was not a team game either. Just now again I got a barrage of obscenities for saying in chat that I had reported one player for being a cheat. Oddly the game got MUCH easier when I stopped the cheat doing that. Most were using unnatural speed and also entering and leaving instantly, with no 10 second waits to self destruct. Not only that, but again when I was destroying another player, it was coming up as them "self-destructing". So I believe I've been cheated of perhaps 200,000 crystals in one month alone. What is the point in playing? thankfully I have not dragged any friends in to the game, or I would be ashamed of the way they are being treated. Instead I have had to start warning my friends to avoid it like this. I think it will improve in time, but I just hope it can survive until it can sort out the cheats, I don't think I will.

Sorry to post again, but I am staggered at what just happened. Someone killed me through supposedly a solid berm of earth. I asked in chat how someone could do that, wondering what sort of replies I would get? NOTHING in chat, but they were all using previously the Cyrillic alphabet, so I posted the link to this and guess what? 17 of 19 players left immediately, seems that word is spreading that cheaters are being reported, lets hope the mods do take some action over our reports, or we are going to be toothless and the game will decline further. I did report that player before I posted the "question" in chat, as I did the player who tried the flying hack to try to get the gold box last night...and oddly enough it was nor me who suggested it, but one of the other players said if we all used the /vote command, the mods might pay attention to what he did?

I cannot speak for others, I speak only for myself here... But I am "disturbed" (concerned more like), because of the level of cheating going on now. Can you imagine how any system put in place might be open to abuse if it is not designed robustly? I am letting some go that I think are cheating as it is, because I do not want to be falsely accusing someone - If you like, I doubt that some will be as conscientious as us. How would you feel if you were banned when someone became disgruntled and complained, thinking you were more than lucky, or just out of spite? I imagine you would not be happy, I imagine anyone falsely accused would be happy, or would you consider it was just everyone for themselves?

I agree we need to do something, see my posts in the other threads for what I have been doing. My problem is that there seems to be no reaction when I report someone, like there are no mods listening? So what good is videoing them, taking screen captures, etc. I've just caught about 12 tonight alone cheating. That is a lot of work for me to compile all that video and screen caps, then upload them, then post about them, only for there to be insufficient proof. They have learned how far they can go without the mods stepping in. Perhaps instead of bans, they could be downgraded in equipment, rank, crystals or whatever? A bit like being "reduced in the ranks" in a real Army? Having to play for 6 months in a basic tank will really teach them a lesson - ASSUMING they don't cheat and try to buy a better turret or tank. They would need to be LOCKED into whatever punishment is deemed necessary. Swede1 I am TOTALLY in agreement with you, they are getting away with driving people away from the game. I have watched the video and I saw how Tanki have faced serious threats to the game in the past and have bounced back, I hope they can do something about this latest one, because I am close to quitting after about one month of playing the game. The only thing is, that I realize they are probably working hard to get on top of this, and they need to. Why buy crystals when you can just cheat? I realize that I must be twice as skillful as they are, since I am just about winning most one-on-one fights now and I DON'T EVEN CHEAT! If we can win as many battles as we do, against so many cheats, then we must have more skill than they are ever going to have. I am also a little concerned about, how do I phrase this delicately? - "Cultural differences"? between players. An awful lot of players from one particular country seem to not only cheat all the time, but do not see anything wrong with it either. I guess it must be more acceptable there. Recently I was in a parkour game and several players, all clearly good friends came en masse into it and started destroying everyone in sight. It sickened me as one player, who sounded quite young, possibly a girl and I think she was from Sweden, kept asking again and again, plaintively "Why they killing us?". I tried stopping them, but the leader had a tank that completely outclassed mine and I could not stop him - But I tried many times. He mocked me in chat for asking him to stop and kept calling one of more of the players "b****" (a sexually degrading term for a female dog). I think it was aimed at the young girl, but I could not be sure, as I was busy trying to use the /vote command on as many as I could, while trying to stop them from attacking the others - And then the battle ended before I could record anything. Now it seemed to be fun for them, and I suspect that violence is quite common and accepted in their country, but if the girl was from somewhere like Sweden, then no wonder she did not understand them enjoying destroying everything on them. I think they all left when the game ended and so did I, sick that I did all I could to help, but ultimately powerless to stop the wreckers and having to see the original players getting very upset. I did all I could think of a the time, but does anyone else on here know of anything else that I could do if something like that happens again?

Well yet again reporting players in a battle seemed to get no response from the mod, BUT saying they had been reported in chat got them to stop - And me a real torrent of abuse! - Which I told them had been reported as well. I also gave the link to this article, so hopefully word will start to pass around that more and more people are willing to report them, whether team games or solo battles. Funnily enough, after I posted the link, about 1/3 of the players left the game, showing just how much cheating was going on.

Thanks Canadian_Eh (great name by the way). My concern it that while you recon you are well-versed in spotting gold box grabbers, remember if you are encouraging lots of others to join in, they may not be as skillful as you, or as careful and it will turn into a witch-hunt / vigilantism. Or worse, be used falsely by some as a reprisal for loosing a battle. PLEASE don't get me wrong, I am NOT saying it is a bad idea, it is a really good one! I just want to ensure it is workable and then hopefully we can get something done about cheats. Yet again this morning, I reported several cheats and nothing was done (apparently) about them. I have started saying in chat their name, that the have cheated and that they have been reported. It is odd how whatever language they speak, they seem to understand those words and I am learning so many foreign swear words in the attacks in chat against me! There is a (new?) moderator in chat on the non-server page. He / She seems REALLY good last night, banning lots of people for foul language, etc. I sure hope they stay on top of it, I actually complimented them, let them know at least ONE person appreciated what they were doing. Now I have realized from the "Loading Adobe..." splash screen at the start often being in Russian, that this game must be Russian - But it does seem that the games where most people are chatting in Cyrillic rather than English, are the games where reporting someone seems to be ignored - Like the Russian games are the ones where a greater level of moral flexibility is tolerated? I guess the reason there are not more official "guards", is that it would cost too much? Tanki seems to be funded by selling crystals, so I suspect that getting high-quality volunteer moderators who can spare so much time and for day-after-day is really difficult. I think they are doing well, but clearly not well enough for some battles. I think we do have to do something ourselves to help, or too many people will leave Tanki as it stops being fun when so many cheat, or are "unsporting". So even though it makes me a prime target in battles, and in battles forever after, since they keep a look-out for my name afterwards...I DO REPORT every cheater I suspect and usually put a warning in chat that I have reported them. I did wonder this morning, if it might help if all supporters of this idea, changed our names to WE_REPORT_ALL_CHEATERS-00001, 00002, etc.We can change our names can't we? And if so, does anyone think that this might help remind players that they never know when a "reporter" might just be stopping by their battle?

Hi, I think you need to clarify this a bit, it is sounding like you are setting yourself up as both judge and jury. I mean I am often sniped at by someone I have not even seen and it takes me several lives to find them. So just because a player comes out of hiding to try for a gold box, it does not necessarily mean they have only just joined. Attacking innocent players is not going to help, so you would have to be very careful in who you decide is cheating. I used to watch the list at the top right, for people joining, but some seem to join without it saying so (a cheat?). Broadly I agree with you very much, I am sick of reporting cheaters who appear and disappear (using speed). Some mods are very good, others seem unmoderated, or willing to accept such behavior as nothing gets done and I have to play out the rest of the game with them zooming across the board, obscene comments directed at me in chat if I say anything. worse still, when I do pin them down somewhere where their friends cannot come to their rescue and I have almost killed them, they LEAVE the game instantly, or instantly SELF-DESTRUCT, no countdown. Once or twice it might be a co-incidence, but it happens so often to me, that it can not be possible to all be coincidences. Remember it robs you of your total and crystals at the end of the game when they loose and you don't get credited with the kill - Especially if you gave up easy chances to single them out and try to teach them a lesson. Talking of which, I've been noticing that sometimes when I destroy someone, it is saying at the top right of the screen that THEY destroyed ME, when their tank is gone and I am still driving around... Another thing that seems highly suspicious is people using amazing quantities of mines - At 50 crystals each? I actually posted in chat "Does anyone else enjoy driving over mines, knowing they cost 50 crystals each to replace?" only to get one reply saying who needs crystals to get them, like I was a n00b... Are the cheats for unlimited crystals still working? Only if they are, then it makes the game unplayable as there are mines everywhere and if people can get them so easily by cheating, an honest player has no chance. Also, after reading in chat about one player who had been cheated by someone introducing lag, I looked it up. Now sometimes the game is unplayable, how can anyone tell if this is server lag, or intentionally introduced lag to give them a smooth screen and you are down to >2fps? I don't often play on teams, but Desert and Polygon seem to very frequently have cheaters in them. Another thing that spoils the game, is "undeclared" clans. You join a non-team game, only to find there are a team of "steamers" in there, each helping each other to more crystals and attacking you as a gang, so you can not play that game against a gang. Finally, I have given up on gold boxes. Great big, heavy tanks with massive armor just sit there, blowing away several others with one shot and no one can get them, so they get the gold box every time. I have noticed this week that action may have finally been taken on this as now the gold boxes seem to be being dropped in more places than they were before. This at least gives you a chance of being in the right place s at the right time by accident sometimes, although it has not yet happened to me. I have only ever got two gold boxes and both of them were in my early games. As I go up the ranks, I seem to be getting forced out of the game by better-equipped opponents, including one I noticed, who's turret was more advanced than his rank would allow. That must be another cheat then. I keep getting very odd things happen, but only while playing Tanki - Like sudden "fatal exceptions" and the tanks and ground disappearing. Funny how it never happens with other flash websites. I guess that could be a genuine glitch, rather than intentional disruption of opponents, unless someone knows better?
