[Issue 61] [Other] The Ethics of Tanki: Being a Good Tanker

Skills and supplies aside, there are many other things that makes one seem even better. Ranging from the most minimal tasks such as healing others to incredibly hard ones, such as coping with Save The Gold mishaps do make an impression upon others - to make a good impression, well, read on! _________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Be... ...brave Don't be that weirdo that sits on the flag 24/7, or rejects 1v1s. Be brave, get a hold of yourself. Think about it, and then believe in yourself. Go get some flags, capture some points, stand up to people that betray or insult you but of course, in a proper, civilized manner. If anyone is teasing you in a battle, either make them understand or simply use the 'Ignore' option. If someone challenges you to a 1v1, accept it rather than arguing about it. Most people that were challenged to 1v1's simply say 'I don't 1v1 laggers.' or 'Cry cry cry nub', which is in my opinion, not the best way to go. Outcome? Both the sides kept talking for like thirty minutes straight, even after the round ended. So, accept those challenges - doesn't matter if you lose or win. ...punctual Time is probably the most hardest element to work with. In Tanki Online, timing plays a crucial role; it not only affects your personality, but your well-being as well. Make it to clan training's, clan wars or any other special events on time. Start prepping yourself before the event actually starts - get a hold of everything you need in that event, such as snacks, water etc. Let's consider the Daily Events, which are regularly being organized by Event Helpers via Facebook. The Mine Hunt is in fifteen minutes; I grab all of my needs and sit down in front of my computer. I refreshed the Tanki Online Facebook page many times and eventually, the link was there, in front of my eyes. I quick copied it and posted it into my browser's address bar. What happened next? I wasn't able to make it on time. I was about to rage quit and smash my hands onto my keyboard but then, I grabbed a hold of myself and saved my pockets from draining a couple hundred bucks. ...noble Showing high moral principles and ideals is a pretty hard task to do, but if you manage to show your nobility, people will give you respect and spread your reputation. You will become popular all over Tanki Online for your nobility. Well, the question arises: How can you be noble in such a game? First of all, help others. If they need help in Daily Missions, be the first one to say 'Me!'. Turning off invites and notifications is a sign of arrogance - being arrogant literally destroys your personality. It just shows how self-centered you are and how you think yourself as the most superior of all. ...loyal If you deem the Administration, the Staff, clans, duelists, parkour clubs, anything basically good enough - which you should, you should show full support and stay loyal possibly forever, or let's say as long as you can. Recently, a group of determined tankers joined forces to make a Tanki Online tournament website namely Tanki Online Star League. You can visit this website here. When I first saw the thread it was being discussed in, I was hyped. But then, as I read on and on, I got a bit disappointed. You see, this is one of the major steps a player took to make tournaments in Tanki lively again; but all I saw in that thread were two people constantly fighting with the makers of the website, because they were too pro. I for one, even my clan and I am sure a lot of other clans too showed full support to TOStarLeague and offered them any help if they needed it. Lesson learned? Be loyal, it's the best you can do. ...helpful Being an Isida on your team doesn't mean you are of foremost important and are the main cause for the flags your team is bringing back to base. Sometimes, Isida's don't really care about the surroundings and may drive on and on even after they have spotted an injured teammate. They stick to only one person or they don't heal anyone at all! This is absolutely unacceptable. As an Isida, you have a responsibility to heal anyone even if he loses less than a quarter of his health. If you have to drive long distances to heal someone, do it. ...trustworthy I can safely say 90% of Save The Gold events are ruined by that one 'lagger'. First they gain the trust of other defenders, making sure no one doubts them. Then, they may/may not lay some mines and finally, they take the Gold, make some excuses and leave. I mean, c'mon, you can't even MU a single step with those crystals. Be trustworthy, be someone who can be entrusted upon. Help others, even drop the Golds yourselves. You should always be trying to act in such a way that everyone who meets you, trusts you. ...ambitious Generally, in a long battle, especially those which take more than 2-3h, people become tired and lazy. Their original K/D starts to drop and they being to miss shots. It is at this time they need to take a break, but the battle's still a full fledged war. How can you take a break without actually pressing 'P'? Simple. Sit back, relax. Sooth your eyes for a few seconds with your fingers and do some upper body exercise while sitting in your chair. Be ambitious. Have a desire to finish that battle and granting your team the win. Be the player who makes a team win. If you think you can't play this battle anymore, don't quit. Keep playing and for future reference, don't join such battles. ...generous Being happy is the key to success in life. Owing to what I said, you should always be happy in real life, as well as in this game. Don't get too aggressive when someone insults you, steals your Gold, trolls you, blocks you or whatever; be happy. Ignore them - if they keep doing what they do, take some appropriate action. Becoming angry on such moments can have disastrous effects on your personality. Moreover, in CTF battles, try to pass on the flag to dedicated defenders because they are the ones who are responsible for your flag and their team's win. Send gifts to one another, share Golds, help each other. In the end, 'regret' will not be present in your dictionary! ...appreciative The most bad thing you can do to people in a battle is be rude to them, especially if they has bring inappropriate equipment, insult you or are of low ranks. Everyone knows the 'Majors in a Generalissimo battle are noobs' myth, which isn't quite true. I was once a Major myself, having little experience in XP/BP. Now however, with over 500 hours and around 600k experience in the format, having an alternate would be deadly. Nobody would know its actually a Generalissimo behind the tank. Be appreciative - appreciate people who are trying to help the team. Encourage them to attack or defend with you. Once there was this Predator kit in an M2 battle I was playing in with my alternate. I had the Juggler kit back then and I was doing just fine - second on the leader-board with over 50 kills. He died quite a few times and suddenly, people went haywire in the chat insulting him in every way possible. I immediately switch from being an attacker to a defender. I encouraged him to defend with me and trust me, he increased his K/D from 0.4 to 3.6 just by sitting and shooting at people while camping near the flag. At times, he would even go attack and bring the flag. What happened? When there was no one to support him, I stood up and made him do something he had never done before. ...flexible Be ready to adapt to any changes occurring in the battle. I have personally seen many people sitting on our flag, defending like crazy. But what happens a few seconds later? The enemy grabs our flag and somehow escapes. They don't even bother to go attack and just sit there thinking 'Never mind. They won't grab it again'. Be adaptive, cooperative and tolerable. If such a situation arises where you need to change roles, do it. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Evaluate yourself on how you did through the article. [Issue 61] An Alternate - Cranking The Engine!

I have always wondered what low-ranked tankers think when they see a kit-user in battle, especially one which is constantly using supplies, turning the turret and skillfully pounding holes in the map and other tankers. Worry no more, as these secrets shall be revealed! Introduction: So, let's get this started. I made an account named a couple months ago, played on it for a while, and then it got completely neglected. The only thing I remember though is that I took a gold box on that account in Sandal - literally that's the only thing I remember. A week ago, I brought that account back to life. It was a mere Corporal, with nothing special but the Commando kit. And so, it was given a fresh start! Cranking the Engine! A Fresh Start: After a long break, I was finally active on this account. I started to complete Daily Missions, do my daily goals, which at the time was simply gaining 10k experience points a day. That meant I had to play lots and lots of CP and CTF games per day. The situation was terrible - My overall K/D was 0.76; plus, I had no supplies and all M0s. I was at the rank of First Sergeant. It was also the rank at which I caught my first Gold box: A few days later, I was being pulled away once again. Out of determination, I decided not to give up and keep playing on this account. In fact, from sheer willpower, I started to no-life. After three days, I was at the rank of Sergeant-Major. I had to make a major decision on this rank - there were a lot of kits available and all I had were M0s. Yes, I had to buy some crystals. I bought $40 worth of crystals with DCC, which increased my crystals to almost 300k. I then purchased some items from the Garage which really, really helped me to increase my K/D and increase my tank up a notch. Playing Battles: The battles at that time were relatively easy. All I had to do is go full-supplies mode and capture flags again and again. The use of supplies was absolutely necessary as it helped me to get a bigger advantage from others. Considering I used Ricochet and Hornet M0, the maps I played in were relatively medium sized maps, such as Rio, Tribute, Polygon and Noise. Sometimes, other people with kits did get ahead of me in score points as well as in number of kills, but that didn't bother me at all! The average fund I was getting from each battle was around 500, which isn't that much. It was time to make another big decision: buying Premium, which of course, I did. Now with huge number of supplies and Premium, I started to gain 5k points in just under 1-2 hours. Then, I ranked to Sergeant-Major. I still had some crystals left from the big purchase I made not long ago, plus, the Matrix kit was in the Garage. After comparing stats of Matrix with other kits, it became my final decision. I was kinda worried what will happen because first of all, I had never played with Thunder nor with Viking. After playing some battles, the kit started to show its potential. I joined a Madness DM and before I knew, I was spamming my supplies as fast I can. This way, I gained so much experience, I ranked to Warrant Officer 1 the very same day! Three days later, I was a Warrant Officer 3. At this rank, I started to see M2s. It was time for another kit. This time, it was Osaka. Isida M2, Hunter M1 and Sakura. I was literally shocked over the results my faithful Isida was giving me. In one particular battle, I was at 1200 score and first on the leader-board. The second person however, was way below at 450 - spectacular. Premium was helping a lot at this time because of the points Isida gives when it heals teammates and just like that I was at Warrant Officer 5. After reaching this rank, I started to fall behind - it was time for another purchase. Tanker's Day was arriving soon - the sales were here. I purchased $70 + $40 once again and had 700k crystals in my Garage. In between the sales, I bought the Tornado kit, which gave me XP M2 at a very low rank. Remember what I said about the Premium? Well yes, after no-lifing for the whole day, I ranked to Third Lieutenant. Now, I had to make a third decision: either purchase another kit and save a lot of crystals or wait for a really good kit but waste crystals. Apparently, I went with the first option. I bought Freeze M2 and the Juggler kit. Believe me, if you want to buy a good kit, buy Juggler. Man, this kit was amazing, nearly perfect! Results: Remember the Madness DM I played with my Matrix kit? Well, apparently this happened: Osaka you say? Maybe even Freeze? And now, XP: Last but not least, the very OP Juggler kit: Product Kits: - Commando Includes: Thunder M0, Railgun M0, Vulcan M0 and Viking M0. Price: 1000 This kit served me really, really well. First of all, Viking. Viking is such a great hull; it has good maneuverability, good speed and just enough health-points to get one going. Railgun for long range fighting, Thunder and Vulcan for medium and small ranged combat. A perfect combination - I would rate it 9/10. - Matrix Includes: Thunder M1, Viking M1, Pixel and Panther D-D M1. Price: 48 950 Another example of those OP kits. I am sure the result above shows how well this kit can do. Thunder is a good turret for M0-1 ranks, as well as Viking. Panther D-D has protections from Twins and Ricochet - two of the most used turrets in low ranks. To conclude, this kit is a must-buy. I would rate it at 10/10. - Osaka Includes: Isida M2, Hunter M1, Sakura and Grizzly T-C M2. Price: 75 580 To be honest, I was kinda surprised that M2 modules are available at such a low rank - serving 25% against any turrets! That's ridiculous. Isida M2 can leech the life out of any given hull, while Hunter has good speed, health-points and height. Grizzly T-C serves protections from Isida, Hammer and Vulcan; so I was safe from Bulldogs, Exterminators, Harvesters, other Osakas and so on. Overall a great combo - I'd rate it at 9/10. - Tornado Includes: Railgun M2, Hornet M2, Spark and Lion T-B M2. Price: 164 185 A cheap ticket to XP/BP battles! The speed and drifting ability of Hornet combined with Railgun M2s incredible impact force was ASTOUNDING. A great module for melee-short ranged combat, too. 10/10! - Juggler Includes: Ricochet M2, Hunter M2, Digital and Griffon T-B M2. Price: 163 515 I was quite nervous about buying either Juggler or Boar. Well, the final decision was Juggler, and I am proud to say it was a great decision. Firstly, Hunter works great with Isida - as I experienced before and secondly, the module. The module was amazing: Smoky, Railgun and Shaft. Miraculous! It deserves to be rated at 10/10. Conclusion: Conclusion time. I managed to reach Major in just under one month, courtesy of Premium. But to truly understand ratios and numbers, let's head over to my profile. D/L At first, when I gave this account a fresh start, the D/L was a bit low: 0.75. I managed to take it up to 1.45 in under a month. That is quite a good ratio. Kills, Deaths I currently have 15 000 kills and just under 12 000 deaths. Achievements: So far, I have unlocked 49 achievements. While going through them, this one shocked me the most: Looks like, I just gotta win, win, win, no matter wha- Most used combo: Hunter-Ricochet-Spark equipped with Griffon T-B M2. Future Plans: Well, I really don't know about what should I do in the near future... Maybe the Jam kit? Maybe even Simoom? Anyways, I will need to have Premium activated all the time, since it is because of this dude that I managed to pull off such results. Plus, supplies. No supplies means little experience gain; after all, I need to hit Major before I can join XP/BP battles, which will definitely make crystal gain much easier. As for the far future, I think I might buy Glaze, Dictator M2 and the Atlas kit. Then Bulldozer, Healer and Jackhammer. After that, I don't know, let's just reach Major first. Yes, a nickname change is planned too :P So yeah, the first part comes to an end. Feel free to discuss the topic below - any suggestions on which kits should I buy in the near future are highly appreciated. See ya! ✯ ✯
  20. The only solution to this is: Wait till the number of players drops to ~1000 and then go onto the Test Server. One more thing, once you buy an item, wait for to be actually 'seen' on your tank in the Garage. If you buy both the items and then close the Garage, you will lose your crystals for nothing.
