    [Issue 32] Developer for a Day

    Tanki Developer for a Day Many people play Tanki today; although, some people have quit in the past, but more join every day. When tankers are playing they have their own fighting styles. Some prefer long to mid-ranged combat, while others prefer to get in close and take a risk with close-ranged combat. Unfortunately, when the little glitches, and program rewrites, stand in the way of one’s success it is infuriating. Some problems that occur are weaponry malfunctions, misfire kills, and alterations in battlefields. Weaponry malfunctions are not common in Tanki online, but this does not mean they do not happen. Some players have discovered that when they press the key to fire, their tank does not fire. But rather a minute later a random shot would have been made. This is very annoying to those who have a Railgun, Thunder, and/or Smokey. This is because these turrets only have one shot rounds. As opposed to using the one shot on another tank, it is wasted on a random space. This problem can easily be resolved if the precision on the turrets are refined. When someone fires their turret and does not hit another tank, that other tank still explodes. This is not possible, unless one takes Murphy’s Law into account. These misfire kills take place with the Railgun, Twins, and Ricochet. The clear blue or orange blast, from a Railgun, will race past a player but still kill them. The Twins and Ricochet have a different problem. Once the two turrets start firing at another tank, the tank will still continue to constantly take damage from the blasts. The area for confirmed blast impact needs to be more precise. Alterations in battlefields are another important matter. In the Serpuhov there is a ledge at the top of the battlefield. This ledge is more commonly known as Sniper’s Point. From here players like to equip a Shaft and aim at opposing tanks that come along. Unfortunately, the pathway to Sniper’s Point has been blocked off. When players try to cross these barricades they are unable to do so because it requires a three man team. Many tankers understand the risk of going up there. A smarter idea would be to expand the range of Self-Destruct away from the ledge, or put more terrain down connected onto the existing ledge. Another possibility would be to put a couple of signs with skulls and cross bones as a precaution. These are better alternatives then excluding a popular area on a map. A player’s fighting style is unique. It is very hard to use unique fighting styles when the ability to do so is taken away. The glitches in the game are very frustrating to both players and developers. For players play the game and the developers have to test the program. When one has faulty weaponry, dies from a misfire towards them, or cannot go somewhere specific in a battlefield it is very difficult to achieve perfect success. These situations have been seen and experienced by players.
