Okey okey, I got it  But the main purpose of this post is not banning this player, but to draw attention to the flaws of the violation report system. I edit the post and replace the image with a link to it to make it less relevant :D

OK, you convinced me about that the picture is not a good proof :) (though the nickname IS seen, who else could have taken that flag?) But the rest of my post still stands, without a log system (that exists in most MMO games) the violators can get away most times. (And this stands for chat too... )

But he was, belive me... and how the hell do you get up there :D ? (And my post is not about that single case, to underline this...)

The name of the player is obivious, and his rank can also be seen on the game log. I do not see why they should see ALL player's rank and nick in this case, but I was happy I could make this single screenshot. Printscreen does not work for me while holding Tab.

Meditation on the Hackers and why they get away most times.
godot11 replied to godot11 in Meditation on the Hackers and why they get away most times. Archive
Dear developers and moderators, Hackers are a serious problem in MMO games. Most of them, however, can deal with them, or at least effectively filter them out. This is, however, not seems to be true on Tanki: I have never faced any serious hacking in other MMOs so far (though I play many), but I often find players using fly- or speedhack in this game. So, why is your moderator system ineffective in my opinion? Let's see what I can do if I find a hacker: Option 1: /vote him What is the problem? if I call a moderator in a battle, he can not see any previous action of the player, (also, he may arrive like 5 minutes later when the battle is already over). Many hackers know this, and hack smart: they fly only 1-2 times when it is really neccessary, thus mods only catch the notorius hackers, who hack for trolling, not for in-game advantage. But these troll-hackers also know this, so they play on several accounts, so banning one of them will not affect the amount of them. The really annoying hackers usually get away without punishment. Option 2: report him on the forum This sounds more effective, yet it is less. The reason is the neccessarity of proff, and the level of obiviousness moderators demand. Face the fact, you have to be lucky to even screenshot the hacker while hacking (and forget about invisibility hack now...), and most players (I guess) don't even know about the usage of printscreen button*. "The best proof is a video which clearly shows the violation", moderators say. Now I ask, what do you think, how many players even have a game recording software installed on their PC, and how many of them are actually records their gameplay? I would be suprised if this would be bigger than some thousandth. So, most of the players have to stick to screenshots. The problem is that the moderators require so obivious proof, that even a clear case gets rejected. This is my example (and the occassion I am writing this now): This is a clear evidence of flyhack (but say it if you disaggree), and I have seen the violator jumping even higher from the column, this was a clear case. I /voted him and nothing happened, despite the fact he was jumping a lot of times before and after the report. I posted this picture on the violator report section, and, to my suprise, it got rejected (http://en.tankiforum.com/index.php?showtopic=311233) (this case was extremely annoying, it took like 4 minutes to get that flag down from there.) I think you really should make some changes in the hack-filter part of the game. The most effective would be logging the curent matches, so moderators could replay them if someone got /voted. Also, the reported cases should be investigated more carefully, and maybe shorter ban times could be used on such cases that (somewhy) not seems to be 110% obivious. Thank you for reading this. godot11 ---------------------------------------- * usage: printscreen copies the whole monitor to the clipboard, that you can paste in Paint (or any image editor) and save. -

Unfortunately, your proof is not sufficient to take action. The best proof is a video which clearly shows the violation. Quality of the video must allow moderators to easily understand nicknames and ranks of all the players. -
Surely. If we get more crystals, we will not have to buy them, Tanki will have less income, its economical situation will lose stability, developers will be sad, and sad developers develop worse game, ruining the game. Oh, wait.

I would say a "f** this game in particular" loud and stop playing for that day... :-D W2YDI this was the last day of your life?

Umm... this would make sense as a new layer of strategy if the players should not wait for minutes for the garage to load... maybe load the reduced version of the garage along with the battle to access it immediately.

Well, for me so far this new "feature" is only a capitalized FAIL. The setting does not appear in Firefox. And I faced an isue I have never did before: stucking keys: with Shaft it is impossible to aim now since it moves up or down by itself and you can only stop it moving with the opposite key, and sometimes my turrent starts spinning around on its own. So I tried Standalone Flash Player, only to face the same issues. However, the option appeared, so I gladly turned it on. I shouldn't have done it because from that point I was unable to move the turrent with any key, not mentioning the mouse control. This needs a tons of working. I think the developers shouldn't have released this in this status of development, maybe only for the test server, because this is barely even in beta status. Or if it is, well, then I am really afraid of this game's future.
