  1. She somehow missed the notification (I only realized about half an hour ago that I'd won at all) and is unsure if the job offer still stands after two weeks of silence, but will hopefully be taking it if possible. :)
  2. Confirmed: Daily Missions to be cut by 50% In a controversial decision yesterday, the Tanki administrators reached a consensus: the daily missions would now be available for half as long. “It was hard,” one top-level official admitted to me in an exclusive interview. “There’s a real culture that’s built up around these daily missions, and we’re not sure how people are going to take this.” But not everyone is as doubtful. A long-time administrator who has asked to stay anonymous says that “we feel that Tankers around the world might benefit from this decision. I’ve heard several concerns expressed that infinity is just too long for a single mission to last. Half that just makes much more sense.” When the news was announced yesterday, hundreds of Tankers took to the online forums to express their opinions. “Half is too much,” one wrote, adding a frowny face for emphasis. “There should be a low, incremental adjustment period. I don’t want to wake up in a few billion years and find my daily missions gone with no warning.” Other Tankers agree, some expressing concern over there not being a listed number. “I Googled how much half of infinity was,” another Tanker wrote in expressive light green, “and even Yahoo! Answers couldn’t tell me. I personally keep my favorite missions. I don’t like knowing that Missie’s lifespan has just been halved.” “The cost is also a concern,” top economist John Smith wrote in a blog post last Tuesday. “In order to halve infinity, they’re going to have to stop it. That’s going to take a few hundred grappling hooks, several fishing poles, and at least one harpoon gun. And even then, where are they going to find a cage big enough to keep it in?” “And what,” as an anonymous commentator on Dr. Smith’s blog asks, “do you do with the other half?”
  3. It's not "like" they don't. And, as it happens, they sort of have a point (they do need to get money somehow). But they've handled this, PR-wise, very badly.
  4. No, tailoring missions to users is a bad idea. To drive an economy there has to be incentive. The rewards should be valuable enough to make non-paying players want to play, but not so large that people won't pay for diamonds (speaking in TO's best interest; obviously I'd prefer a model in which no one paid).
  5. I'm not sure what you mean by this post. I may have used a slightly more bitter tone than I should have, but I was certainly not lying, and I resent that accusation. No, not everyone has high-powered weapons. That was an exaggeration I used because I was upset when I typed that. I thought it was clear that it was hyperbole; I apologize for the misunderstanding. I would hate ads in the gameplay, but when not in an actual battle, I wouldn't mind ads (considering the stability they'd bring). If TO needs money, ad-support is a much better solution than charging people. I think it's too late now, though- ads would be (rightly) viewed as a last gasp attempt to save TO from going bankrupt.
  6. Why do the "daily missions" not vanish after a day, anyway? Thanks to the people who told me what drugging was... I always ignored those things; it never even occurred to me that other people must be using them. To be honest, I don't understand how the TO economy isn't already in shambles. The pricing doesn't make very much sense, nor does the ranking system (yay, I'm a higher rank... thanks Tanki, now I have access to yet more high-powered weapons that I can't afford but everyone else has). It's time for MMORPGs to understand that no one's going to pay for them- at least not enough to keep them running. There's a reason almost all of them have shut down. To me this all signifies the beginning of the end- it'll be harder and harder to get crystals without paying real money, until finally TO collapses completely. I've seen it happen in almost every other "free" game I've played, and I expect to see it here too. This method of gaming may very well soon vanish.
  7. I feel stupid, considering how long I've been playing this game, but what's drugging?
  8. I agree that difficulty VS diamonds was messed up... but they've gone about it all wrong. They should have made harder missions with the same amount of diamonds and introduced easier missions. This way they've just made everyone (including me) annoyed about the loss of the diamonds. Also, 50% is a lot. Maybe enough for me not to care about the missions.
