The only complaint I have regarding this update is the nerfing of Striker Uranium. It already provided enough challenges with the increased lock time and slower speed of the missiles. Now cutting the missiles in half (2) will make it basically useless. It will become sort of a slower version of Hunter alteration x2. You might want to rethink this one.

Guide The Gaussian Distribution: A Guide to Tanki's Newest Turret
Sniper1954_the_dark replied to LOLKILLERTOTHEDEATH in Newspaper Archive
Excellent article!!! Especially liked the mathematical distributions and explanations. -
Murphy's Law is as follows: "Anything that can go wrong will". The addition to that is "And at the worst possible time". This article had me laughing so hard, because I have had so many of those gaffs happen to me. Tanki is like playing golf. You can have one battle where you play like a champion, doing everything right and killing everything in sight, and then turn around the next battle and have every possible thing from running off of cliffs and flipping over due to lag to getting killed and re-spawning in the same area multiple times in the same area only to be killed again. Awesome article. :D

Update - Maps, Balance, Challenge/WAR extended.
Sniper1954_the_dark replied to theFiringHand in News Archive
Overall good news and fair re-balancing. Good new on the maps as well. As far as WAR, I think you guys were a bit ambitious as to when we would get to 6 million, I mean some of us are grown ups who have jobs we have to go to so we can't play 24/7. Just saying! -
My question is where are the faction paints. I am in the english community and checked both in the shop and the paints section in the garage and there are no faction paints to be found.

Tweaks to the balance of Overdrives and Gauss, and more
Sniper1954_the_dark replied to theFiringHand in News Archive
Overall, I think this is a fair Tweak. The Mammoth overdrive was a bit too long. It became a rolling juggernaut that was unstoppable destroying everything in it's path. Allowing the OD to kick in sooner is fair and also shortening the OD period is fair. The tweak to Gauss, it also fair. Now it is competitive. The difference is slight, but noticeable. I hope they don't nerf it. -
After playing with it for a bit, it has it's pluses and minuses. I have had a few 1 shot, 1 kill, but mostly takes 2-3 shots. Reload after sniper mode needs to be faster and could use a bit of a buff in sniper mode. It's sort of like a love child between smoky on crack and thunder with a little side action from shaft. I am sure they will tweak it, I just hope they don't nerf it. I am still trying to decide if it was worth over 200k in crystals. I am still partial to my thunder.

I jumped the gun on this, I found out I was having computer issues and now all is running well, that being said. The turret is not bad, but not as awesome as I expected. It remains to be seen as to whether this was a good investment or not.
-
I can't believe I spent 200k plus crystals on this piece of junk!!! So far, I have not had 1 kill. I don't know if it is a glitch or what, but I haven't even been able to kill a hornet with it. According to all the hype, this was supposed to be a death turret. So far, more like a pop gun.

Balance changes for Turrets, Alterations and Overdrives
Sniper1954_the_dark replied to theFiringHand in News Archive
Overdrives has added a new dimension to the game... some of it is good, and some of it not so much. However, I really wish you devs would get your act together. I understand that from time to time rebalancing may be necessary to correct unfair advantages but it seems like you are doing a rebalance 1-2 times a month. Figure out what you need to do and quit dinking with the turrets, hulls..etc. For example, the Hammer duplet was initially unfair. The rebalance made it pretty fair. But now, you are going to make it a waste of crystals. Also, I think it was a really bad move to stop allowing players to test alterations through rentals. Now it's a crap shoot when you purchase an alteration as to whether it will work with your playing style. Overall, I am not a fan of this constant tinkering with the game. -
I have to admit, at first I was skeptical about overdrives, but after having played a few battles with them, I have to admit it is fun. Yes, there will be a learning curve and you will have to rethink your strategies, but it makes for a more lively game. Love the new animations when you use supplies. The new overdrives will make you dust off some of your older hulls and make turret/hull combos you previously hadn't tried. So far I am pretty impressed.

Update - Changes to turrets and alterations
Sniper1954_the_dark replied to theFiringHand in News Archive
You guys need to quit messing around with the turrets!!! One time the railgun was a beast, then you castrated it but made it fire faster, then you produced an alt (large Caliber rounds) which we had to pay for in precious crystals to put it back to where it was at first. Then you made Isida op then nerfed it and who knows what now and the story goes on and on. Leave well enough alone! -
True that! As they say Caveat Emptor (Let the buyer beware). I will add, watching alts in action is not the same as playing with them as we all have different skill levels and strengths in our playing style. What may work for one person may not work for another, hence the rentals were a great way to help you gauge whether an alt was right for you or not.
-
Exactly, but that is my point! You can't be sure if you absolutely want it unless you try it out.

Personally, I think Tanki should be ashamed of the way they are treating us (their Customers) with this release. We spend a lot of time saving up crystals, many people pay money, and they offer you products without the ability to test them out. Let's say you buy an alteration for Striker at 200,000, and find out it's not going to work for you, now you have just been fleeced out of those crystals as there are no refunds. Before by allowing rentals, you could figure out if an alteration was going to work for you or not. So basically, they are taking your crystals and/or money and basically saying Sorry sucker....see ya next time.
