Typically when I see gold boxes dropping it seems that most people respect the no kill rule until the gold box is sighted, then it seems to be a free for all. Personally I only shoot people who shoot me, but after the gold box is caught it's fun to hit the pile of tanks with Thunder and see how many kills you can get at once!
