    Tanki: Dying... dying... dead?

Earlier this year, the battles seemed endless; well, never-ending. Log on most any time of day, you would find no shortage of people to battle and joust with. Servers in two, maybe three different nations or nationalities. Then a bunch of "EU" servers were unleashed, and to what? They're mostly empty, most of the time. Did people, players, users, finally move on? Is Tanki dying?
  2. Same problem using Version 9.1.3 (9537.86.7.8). Default size of the game screen is slightly smaller, but still no way to adjust it.
  3. I can no longer adjust screen size with the plus and minus keys. Entering a battle my screen is maxed out.

OSX 10.9.5 3.33 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon Chrome browser Version 55.0.2883.95 (64-bit) Thank you.

"No-kill" rule during gold box drop

There are many, many, many types of kills you can make in this game. But the absolute sweetest kill you can make... is the one where you sit above the teeming mass of tanks--the "scrum"--trying to get at the gold box. And then you just kill, indiscriminately, anything that moves. I'll even boot up a double damage out of my stash, just so I can kill more. And the kill that you make... taking out that one tank, just as they are about to receive their precious little "gold box?" There is no better feeling in the entire game. Ending the game at the top of your team, highest number of points? It pales in comparison to denying someone the gold box. So please, Pretty please, with sugar on top. Chase after the gold box. Run for it. Type into chat, over and over and over again, "WAS GOLD?" Nothing I like better than an easy target. :D

Does The Gold Box Prayer Chant Actually Work?

"gold box pls" "admin gold box" "gold box" "gold box!" "drop gold box" "admin gold box now pls" "gold box?" "has it drop yet?" "gold box drop?" "drop box gold!" "drop gold box" "admin gold box now pls" "gold box pls" "admin gold box" "gold box pls" "admin gold box" "gold box" "gold box!" "drop gold box" "admin gold box now pls" "gold box?" "has it drop yet?" "gold box drop?" "drop box gold!" "drop gold box" "admin gold box now pls" "gold box pls" "admin gold box" "gold box pls" "admin gold box" "gold box" "gold box!" "drop gold box" "admin gold box now pls" "gold box?" "has it drop yet?" "gold box drop?" "drop box gold!" "drop gold box" "admin gold box now pls" "gold box pls" "admin gold box" Question: Does anyone believe this actually works???? Am I/we really to believe that there is a live person, sitting and watching every game... finger hovering over a mystical keyboard key that will drop your life's dream, if only you chant and pray enough? I'm in a team battle, thinking, "We could be exchanging ideas about strategy, helping each other..." And all I see is the litany above, like drunk Druids swaying under the silver moon of the Winter Solstice. Call me a skeptic. Call me a Doubting Thomas; wait, no, call me a Doubting Tanker.

A few stereotypes about Shaft I wish would die

With a little skill, daring, and luck... one can have a lot of fun with enemy shafts in CTF... especially Highways CTF!

    CONFESSIONS OF A "USER"

Thanks for the input! I think this is a good example of how supplies are abused, rather than used. Supplies can be an "edge" to your game, give you that slight advantage, help you out of a tough spot. They're perhaps meant to complement your skills, but not be a substitute for them. Your "RicoNoob" will eventually, I believe, hit a ceiling that no amount of supplies will get them past. Only skill will work at that point. RicoNoob could probably save themselves a lot of supplies by just learning to drive and turret and shoot simultaneously. Maybe RicoNoob has tried this already, can't get the hang of it, and is using supplies to compensate for a lack of skill. Well, if they're on a tight budget, it might be one way to burn through the savings and college fund for the kids. On the other hand, if RicoNoob is a hedge fund manager, or the child of a hedge fund manager, then there's money to blow, and there's nothing any of us can do about that. If I've mentioned this already, it's worth mentioning again: There are no ads during gameplay. There's no little banner distracting you at the bottom of the screen, and the game itself is offered free. It seems like I've noticed some new maps/battlefields in the past month or so. Those take time, people, money... to create and develop. I suspect revenue from crystal purchases helped fund those new maps. But I could be wrong about that.

    CONFESSIONS OF A "USER"

Hhhhmmmmm... I'm not sure I understand your comparisons of this game to the "real world." I mean, think about it: We're in a forest/town with maybe 20 other tanks. We have infinite, unlimited ammunition. We have types of weapons that, to my knowledge, don't exist in the "real world." When we shoot at buildings in the game, we might see a black smudge, but the building itself does not crumble or shatter. And best of all.... I don't remember reading accounts of tanks and their crews--during WW2, for example--that "resurrected" back onto the battlefield five seconds after they were destroyed by the enemy. "Real world?" Uuhhhmmm....  ... okay.... You know, whatever you have or have not been doing... you must be doing something right. You've achieved the rank of lieutenant colonel. Even with your "one tank" that you claim to have. According to the Wiki... your current rank requires an accumulation of 455.000 XP. Assuming a ratio (and I have no idea what a more accurate ratio might be, please chime in if you have an idea!) of 1:1... that means you would also have accumulated 455,000 crystals. But then you claim that you never had more than 5,000 or so in your account? Who's cooking your books? I won't argue your point about "one tank," although I do think you're exaggerating a bit. I have maybe six or seven turrets in my garage, maybe for or five hulls. But as it has panned out... I have one turret/hull combination that I use in 95% of my battles. I rarely change equipment in the middle of a battle--it's not worth the time or effort. It's easier for me to scout the map/battlefield a bit better. Watch the other players, how they drive. Someone who rarely or never pivots their turret is a sitting duck, IMHO. I also choose my map/battlefield carefully. There are some that I hate, and some that I love. I love Stadium!!! Great combination of sniping opportunities, and that big, open field to run around in. (If you are a beginner reading this: Open up Stadium and use that field to practice simultaneous driving/turreting/shooting. Limit the battle to only two players, and when someone enters, explain that you're just practicing--they'll probably let you be.) I love going out onto the Stadium field and race, spin, skid, "donuts"... great fun! It's kind of like a tank rodeo. And when was the last time you saw a tank rodeo in the real world?

So when was the last time you went into a team death match and said..

"Hey, anybody want to go solo? You know, on our own? Shoot any and all tanks?" Exactly. So what's the deal with going into a Death Match and pleading, "Who wants to team...?" Team battles (all three flavors) are for team play, and DM is for individual free-for-all. Or am I missing something?

    CONFESSIONS OF A "USER"

Hi. I've been playing Tanki about six, seven weeks now. And I've developed... well... a habit. I'm a "user." You know. Power-ups, Extra armor. Repair kit. Supplies. If you want to use that other word... that word of disdain, dislike... go right ahead. Spit that little epithet out as many times as you like. I'm going to avoid it. I've bought things in this game. I've used real $$$$. PayPal. And I want to be clear... really clear... about something. I'm. Not. Sorry. We can talk about, oh, the economics of game development, growth, maintenance. We can talk about why I have a Paypal account, and you don't. Maybe because, well, your parents don't want you to have that just yet. Tough noogies. I wanted a new Camaro for my 18th birthday--I got a used Pontiac. Way of the world. How much $$$$ have I spent on this game? As much as I think is reasonable for me and my budget. It's probably a little more, or a little less, than you've spent on beer... cigarettes... movie tickets... iTunes... your Xbox or Playstation games. Fact is, I used to play this other tank game on my phone called "Iron Force." It sucked. I mean, really sucked. Imagine you and a few other tankers, corporals and sergeants, go into a battle and there are two or three 5-star generals driving M4 XT rigs. And you're just ducks on the pond. That's "Iron Force." Oh, and your turret is fixed... you can't move it. So, one of the reasons I have given some $$$ to the Tanki folks, bought some of their product, is because (radical notion, kids, hang on)... I like what they do. Same reason you order Pizza Hut instead of Domino's (or vice versa). Some of you, I've had on my friends list. If you get me into a team game, I'll bust my hump for your and the team. I'll hold the points, I'll block your back when you're carrying the flag, and carry the flag the rest of the way if you're taken out. And I'll occasionally use my supplies to do these things. If it's a DM game... you're hamburger. Toast. Every chance I get. And I'll occasionally use my supplies to do these things. So... if you're reading this, and you've bought things, too. If you use supplies when you play. If you're getting tired of the whiney comments, the sneers, all that stuff.... go ahead and post. Sound off! Purchasing and using supplies, upgrades etc. in this game is not illegal. It's not against the rules. It's not a crime. If you ask me questions, I'll answer them. If you give me grief in the middle of a battle, I'll give it right back. Deal? :)

Premium Accounts are in the game!

Thank you for sharing this! Granted, I had to stop @ every 90 seconds or so and Google some ultra-nerd acronym or phrase. If you wanna see a great example of "gold farming" and "whales," check out a tank mobile game called "Iron Force." It was originally developed by Chillingo, and bought out be EA soon after. That game has plenty of whales. I could be wrong, but Chinese top the list, followed closely by the Russians (I wouldn't be surprised if the Russian Mafia is well represented!) Chillingo attempts global tank battles over mobile networks. Lag is atrocious most times, and there are no attempts to segregate players by rank/experience. It's pretty common to go into a game as one of five or six corporals or sergeants, and watch everybody get mowed down by one or two "Generals" driving what would be the equivalent here of M5 tanks. Jared Psigoda does illustrate one cold, hard reality, though: Our children and grandchildren will probably work for Chinese companies, drive Chinese cars, rent Chinese-owned apartments. That's not an indictment of anyone, just a look at what the numbers are likely to be like (assuming there are no major wars, natural disasters, etc).

Premium Accounts are in the game!

I think I'll have to disagree with that, based on my earlier post. If I buy a Premium account... I will always see the red banner. YOU only get to see my red banner if I want you to see it. I can pass myself off as a "non-Premium," if I want to. I still think the battles should be segregated. One of the reasons I've loved this game so much, is that, unlike "Iron Force," you generally fight people within your own "rank neighborhood." You're not going to have a general roll into a battlefield with his M4 rig, and shoot up all the corporals and sergeants in their M0s or M1s. I wish a developer or representative of Tanki would have the cojones to come in here and answer some of these questions. Ignoring this thread certainly isn't gaining them any respect, in my book.

Premium Accounts are in the game!

HERE'S ANOTHER DISPARITY... It looks like there's a checkbox in your profile... that shows you whether or not other players/users are "Premium." So... two or three "Premiums" could go into a non-Premium battle... and "clean house." Ducks on the pond, we'll be. Screw you and your Premium accounts, Tanki!

Premium Accounts are in the game!

Bingo! We have a winner!! The 100% multiplier was what kept me playing. For those that have not yet done the math... At the rate of $10/month.... that's @ $120 for one year At the rate of $28/90 days... that's a little more than @ $112 for one year Granted, I tend to lean on the younger set quite a bit, especially for all the lame "R U a girl?" questions. But I kind of have some sympathy for them, now. Unless they have a decent job, or rich parents to line their pockets... maintaining a Premium account is going to be tough. Hell, it's even tough for some here that might have spouses, children, mortgage/rent, car payments... etc. I see, so far, one very, very small possibility for "saving" Tanki... and that is that battles will be segregated, between "Premium" and "non-Premium" users. Today, it looks like battles are flagged/marked if there are Premium users playing. This is a good thing--and it needs to remain.

Well, I don't know about "World of Tanks"... but I would definitely mention my choice for scourge and sçum of online and mobile tank games... and that is Iron Force. I came here as a refugee from "Iron Force." IF is plagued with lots of horrible problems. The place is overrun with criminal elements (IMHO) from other nations that hack the game, max out their tanks, and then go into battles with major, major advantages. Imagine if this place allowed a couple of "Generals" to go into a battle against a bunch of PFCs and corporals. That's "Iron Force." I've made one or two crystal purchases since I've started playing... and I've been thinking about another purchase these past few days. No more. Now I'm going to go into battles where I will be outmatched by "Premium" users. My only hope for "keeping up" will be the ongoing subscription and crystal purchases??? Congratulations, "Tanki"... you just became another sad "Iron Force" money pit.
