Waited 15 minutes... at least under the old system, you could see what was available, play whichever suited the missions you had, and avoid the dead wait - oh, if you switch to the chat, you can view it, but you can't use it. Mattchmaking is a massive downgrade, the match you get after all that is generally pretty rotten, and it's lost the ability to choose something suitable like a "thin" CTF when you need to cap flags

Standalone Client or Browser version hangs at progress bar if in battle list mode. Got in witrh a browser I hadn't been using, and had to take a match the other way. Wait time - HATE IT. No choice of map - HATE IT Got awful match (which is why I always use battle list) - HATE IT I have bought once, but don't expect another penny while matchbreaking is on

HORRIBLE! Balance: AWFUL Map selection: AWFUL The some **** they did to TANKIX Come on guys, peple have favourite maps, favourite setups for each map, and you rip that choice of map away, other than for private battles that don't count for the missions. Absolutely hate this, maybe it's time I bailed, and I think it's a flat out NO to ever doing another buy... just before I got to M3 level (the second time)

CP is my favorite, in both single and multiple point format... really miss the old Polygon CP battles, nonstop action with everyone converging on the point or shooting up the point takers / holders from the high point. The flip side of CP is multiple point, particularly on a convoluted map like Madness. Favorite CTF map: Rift, fairly short routes and lots of them. TDM? Hate it, maybe I should get a magnum and just trade artillery with the camped enemy, because if you go near the enemy base, you're toast! Only time I do TDM is for a mission.

Once upon a time, there was never any problem finding a reasonably matched battle of the right type, though some less common maps could be a problem. Now, it's very hard to find battles to meet mission requirements, though maybe in part at the moment due to the takeover of Happy New Year AS, and if you don't need that one, bad luck indeed. When you do find one, you often have to face those not hugely above your level, but who benefited from earlier availability of M3 equipment - I wish I'd taken that M3 Isida in a kit when I had the chance, now any M3 is a long way away. To be fairer, downrate already obtained M3 to M2 until the new level requirement is reached. And then face the curse of the quitters, leaving your side hopelessly unbalanced

Yep, played a few times, so unbalanced toward red team it's ridiculous. If they wanted something other than straight CTF, then each side should have a flag banking base, with flags at random locations

Guide [Issue 55] The Mid Ranker's Handbook: All About Crystals
Mattz_GT replied to Zenyth in Newspaper Archive
One thing to remember, you get one free mission swap, use it to try and bag another crystal mission - or to dispose of one you really hate. Hulls: Probably need no more than 3, a racer (Wasp / Hornet), a brick (Mammoth / Titan) and an intermediate, though you could get by with leaving out one of those . Guns: For a few maps (Camp is one case) only a Shaft will do, maybe also a Railgun, as the two camps are connected by a narrow path of fatal no-mans land, and with the opposition suppressing movement by long range sniper fire, the only way to beat them is to join in sniping them when they show. Monte carlo is another map dominated by long range suppression. Typically, you would deploy Shaft on your heaviest hull, while Rail also goes ok with a lighter hull for hit & run. The short range weapons (and you may only want one in that class) generally go better with the "racer" hull, as you need to be able to close on a target. Kits are your friend, can often effectively get you a free item, its doubtful if its worth buying paints separately, and unless you are desperate for a fancy look or believe that camouflage works, the protection module is more important (paints & protection now being separate, but together in kits) -
I was thinking "exploding gold box" for April fool... The other thing that would be good, would be box drops at ALL locations, but only one real - that would actually make it more luck, instead of "beat the scrum"
-
Great, but hopefully to avoid abuse, ther will be a timeout before it changes. Maybe an "extend battle" option would also be useful, so annoying when a battle ends during gold drop countdown.

Hohloma out of position in paints list
Mattz_GT replied to Mattz_GT in Hohloma out of position in paints list Archive
Checking on a couple of next level up kit contents, found that the 108k proced Hohloma paint is misplaced, appearing between a couple of 90k priced paints in the list = had trouble finding it, as I was looking further up the list. Is it just me? -
Seen some good and bad play, I confess, often playing in need of Happy New Year map xp, I'd be running out to grab a DD and go hunting reds. On red, often ran Isida behind the flag carrier - then try and take out as many blues as possible. I want kills, I want crystals, but wanting crystals dictates that you DO need to do the right thing for the team, as the bounty is bigger on the winning side - though if the team is hopeless, I'll go completely kill greedy to make the best of a bad lot.

I was wondering why sometimes I stopped, as if I'd just stalled my tank.... I was driving, turning, rotating the turret as well, then trying to snap a shot - result, I stalled. Why? Because more than 3 keys on my old keyboard = NO KEYS Now I have a gaming keyboard, only a cheap one, but it has anti-ghosting on the gaming keys, so now, I don't stall. You don't have to be playing huge multi-GB game releases to benefit from a gaming keyboard, you need one for best performance in Tanki

I've found a favourite mining spot... Iran map - when on a good high point, mine the approach, stops you getting your butt kicked by someone creeping up the ramp

Is the CP pot bigger, or is it just the constant stream of kills in Polygon CP with everyone piling in the centre or shooting from vantage points? Can't think of any map & battle type wher the action is as nonstop
-
Was getting low framerate when playing through Armorgames, though I usually fullscreened to get rid of all the junk. A lot smoother now playing on the Tanki site, and I can leave it short of going fullscreen without distractions (monitor is 1280x1024)

Got and AMD Phenom 965BE (slighly OC to 3.6) and HD5670 graphics. Now in the current (Flash) Tanki, how much difference does the graphics card make? Not keen on upgrading the CPU, as it means going pretty expebsive to find one that is actually a worthwhile upgrade, but got my eye on a few graphics card possibilities. I'm guessing that Graphics may make more difference in TankiX, as it uses a more game-tuned engine

With 1 free swap, always dump a non-crystal mission - and my dump preference is DM. Ideally, if you have a map mission and type mission, you can kill two birds with one stone, but sometimes you cant find one that covers both. For CP & CTF, I prefer one with only a few opponents, and for CP, one with multiple CP rather than Polygon's continuous battle for the single CP. CTF, on some maps, I really hate, as it can be hard to find your own flag point on some maps. DM... advantage, everyone is your target,.... disadvantage, you are everyone's target - slack tactic, find fights and take out the survivor - must get hold of a Thunder as it might take out BOTH.
