Now that the premium issue has calmed down thanks to Damn_Slow, I would like to point out that the new R button display over the tanks ruins the element of surprise when sitting behind or coming around a corner. I learned quickly that if I repeatedly tapped R throughout the game, I could identify the location of the majority of enemy tanks very easily. The words hang around corners and appear above buildings, giving me a small, yet effective advantage to sneaking up on someone or defending myself from a stealth invader. When the distance issue is resolved for long range turrets, the idea of sniping will be completely turned on its head. From across the map you will be able to locate all of the enemy snipers with one press of the button. Suggestion - no longer show the protections and tank configuration over the tanks in game. Only show it on the scoreboard. Otherwise, a huge element of the game (stealth) will cease to exist. Thanks!

Thank you Damn_Slow. This is a perfect example of how someone should handle the situation. Respect and acknowledge the complaint, let people know that their concerns have been raised to the right level and keep a level head about it. There's nothing personal here, just facts and acknowledgement. On a side note, I think it's absolutely hilarious that people with ridiculous nicknames are having such a serious debate. At least that has been giving me a laugh throughout this.

Wow. You just told me to deal with it. What a stupid, moronic, immature thing to do when having a reasonable, adult discussion. You are a forum moderator in support of the community? Well that's just a joke. Way to alienate the people that pay for the existence of Tanki. And no, I don't remember when it was added because I didn't play 8 months ago. Don't make assumptions. Tanki sold me something that included protection. You keep making the argument that premium players complained that they couldn't use the paint because it didn't have protection. So what? Why didn't you get rid of the paint instead of adding protection? That's not here or there because that decision was made in the past and there's not send arguing over what happened 8 months ago. What you just did was insult someone that has put a reasonable amount of money into this game across multiple accounts because I enjoyed the game and thought that it was fair for me to put some money into it. Now you are so callous to tell me to deal with it. What a childish slap in the face that was. Thanks Mafioso for showing me and other premium tankers how little the you and the devs actually care about the people helping to keep you in business. And let's not forget how awful the lag is. I would love to talk about that but you'll be quick to tell me it's someone else's problem. If you are going to represent Tanki in this forum, take accountability for everything. Otherwise, stop asking for feedback and stop telling us we don't deserve something we paid for. Much like P_U_N_I_S_H_E_R, I have said my peace and no longer have the energy or inclination to discuss this any further.

No, it doesn't make one bit of difference. The analogy is valid because the music service was providing an advantage to paying customers that they came to expect and now they have taken it away. It makes no difference that there are other benefits left over for premium paint. The issue is that something we paid for, something we have been receiving as part of that payment is suddenly taken away. No refund. No discount for extending premium. Just less than what we had before.

What was free about it? I paid real money for it. Last time I checked, that wasn't free. This attitude about something SO simple to fix that will make a lot of people happy and quit complaining about this update is fascinating. What is Tanki going to lose by providing some protection modules to their paying premium members? Nothing at all! The problem goes away. But instead we have a number of unhappy supporters of your game. PAYING supporters. We even have players that typically dislike buyers sticking up for us! The other premium paints were allowed to get protection modules and how did those people get them? By being active members of the community in some cases. Right? Adding value to the game? Isn't that what the paying players did? Added value? It's shockingly absurd that Tanki devs won't go for the easy fix here and be done with it. Seems like they want to stir the hornets nest for some reason that I can't understand.

Hang on. The premium paint was meant to be just a "status" paint which doesn't give any advantages in battle? Then why did it give advantages in battle? This is a weak argument for taking away something that your paying customers relied on. There's a difference between what it was intended to be and what it actually was. You sold premium accounts with the added benefits of double crystals, increased exp AND protection from all turrets. Tanki provided this, so as far as I am concerned, the added protection WAS intended all along. I have been a premium account holder since I joined Tanki and never had to buy other protection paints. Now I have no protection and have to spend crystals that I have been saving for a turret on protection modules. This is absolutely ridiculous. Let's look at this another way. Let's say you pay for a music service and by paying for that service, you get commercial free high quality music 24 hours a day. Non paying users get to listen to high quality music for 30 minutes and then a commercial comes on. I'd say that was a deserved advantage for the paying customer. Now let's say that service comes along and says we never intended for our paying customers to have an advantage over non-paying customers and therefore you now have to listen to the commercials every 30 minutes, but you sill get high quality music! Does that seem fair for someone that is paying to support the ongoing development of the music service? I don't think so. Do the right thing and support your paying users. Give premium account owners protection modules. It doesn't have to be all turrets at 15% in one module. Break them up into groups of 3, but provide enough modules to include all of the turrets. A smart business is one that doesn't punish its paying customers for being loyal. You need to make this right.

What a shame about premium paint. I know there are premium haters out there, but what premium accounts do is help fund the game. I don't mind paying for premium because I enjoy the game and it allows me to progress faster to enjoy more challenging battles at higher ranks. Why take the protection away from players that actually pay to support the game? Part of the attraction of premium accounts was the added protection it provided. I understand it may be a bit OP in earlier ranks, but as you progress, that paint becomes less useful as others would have stronger protection. Couldn't there have been a more reasonable approach to this update for the players that are willing to pay money for the game? Why did the premium protection have to disappear entirely? Maybe it could have been broken up into groups of 3 or 4 protections? That was a thoughtless change by Tanki and one that leaves me scratching my head as to why they would want to punish the people that pay to keep their game going. Like I said, I understand some don't like premium account buyers, but without them and other buyers in the game, Tanki would be long gone by now. The devs/product managers should reconsider this unfortunate change for premium before the lose the financial support that the buyers provide.

Sorry if it's clear and I just don't understand, but tankers that have premium accounts and therefore use premium paint with 15 protection against all turrets will lose all of the protective attributes of that paint? The protections won't be converted to protective modules as will happen for all of the other paints in the game?

The July 11th Tankopocalypse Saga — Aftermath and all details
CaptainItchyButt replied to theFiringHand in News Archive
This is really nice of the devs. That's a lot to give us tankers. Well done. The premium account days that will be given out from July 14th - July 17th won't benefit premium account holders. Will those days be added on to the length of the premium subscription? -
