your railgun may have shot your opponent with minimum damage. Railgun minimum damage is 390. when double damage is activated, Railgun minimum damage is 780 which is less than hornet health of 1000. By the way, unless you have the M2 shell stabilization alteration enabled, Railgun will always do random damage towards the enemy which usually deviates from the average damage which is 600 for M0 by a small to moderate range. However,if you are lucky (or unlucky), you will do damage that is nearer to the max or min damage.

Micro upgrading from M2 to M3 will cost the same as buying M3 directly. I would suggest buying another kit or hull as light hulls are not really useful in normal battles. Railgun may still work in normal battles though double damage and the alteration that increases damage is recommended.

Learn to play in large maps. Railgun and hornet works best in large maps.

Should I get Thunder M2 or Hunter M2 or other things for April fools celebration or should I continue saving? The only combo I have right now is XP M2. I need a combo to effectively compete in non pro battles.

Try ambushing those shafts from behind or camp at an area temporarily to kill them. After all, shafts at lower ranks tend to be on heavy hulls where they just sit at their base and spine at others.

M2 rail is a great turret but it will not bring you far in non format battles unless you use double damage. I play XP/BP at M2 and it is quite fun although it is three shots on both M2 and M3 hulls and M3 rail can two shot a M2 hull. If you like XP/BP then I suggest that you buy tornado kit as it contains M2 hornet and M2 rail or mosquito kit which contains M2 wasp and M2 rail.
