I tried it out for you; I joined an ASL match (red team). I didn't take the flag, the only thing I did was killing the opponents and I got a star.

All you have to do is to earn score in the map, it doesn't matter how; Kills, assists, flags - everything counts!

You don't have to be. If you don't know how to record a video, try using Bandicam; It's very simple and doesn't require a gaming PC to get 60 fps with it. I also think the new method hurt the game. The devs need to release a new big update, something that will bring many players (old/new) back to the game. I'd love to see more than 100k players online on daily basis as in 2015. :)
