The email you're asked to provide in the form doesn't have to be linked to any account. The tech support asks for an email so they can communicate with you and help you solve your problem.
That's very important, if you want the tech support to get back to you, you need to write your email address in the following box (see in the spoiler)

As for your case @coconuttree , the articles in the Newspaper are made in a private section. Once they are ready to be published, the Newspaper reporters approve the articles and move them to the main section which is why you don't receive notification for them.
As for you @SHREYA88 , We made a few tests, and we did receive notifications in the newspaper section. Yet, some notifications are delayed.

Giveaways are alright, as long as they are fair and square.
